I’m still here just learned not to say to much on here. If your a fan of a team in Baytown it’s hard to support when you have a new head coach every two years and don’t have a true feeder pattern so it’s impossible to build a middle school-high school program. Add in all our best players playing at Crosby, North Shore, la Porte, deer park. It’s tough. I’m a loyal fan I still support Sterling financially and by attending games, and want them to do good.

texaslonghorn14 reacted to dBerrySports in RIP Blain Padgett
Not sure if anyone else saw this yet, but Grayson Padgett hit a walk off home run for Houston against San Diego in the 12th inning. Said in interviews and tweeted pretty much that he did it in Blain's name. Pretty cool story in such a tragic time for the Padgett family.

I have said it once and I’ll say it again winning cures everything. I hope BISD makes a big splash hire. But who ever they hire if he comes in and wins right away all the negativity will wipe away.

Coach Sigler and his staff were very complimentary of our kids and told them to keep there heads up. Also the players at silsbee were nothing but class after the game. Yes silsbee beat us but we appreciate the class

The district that they are put in, will make all the difference in the world. Being that football, besides volleyball, is the first sport to get things kicked off for the new school year, it is imperative that Ozen-Central starts out with a winning program. I say that because it will help the student body buy in to the merger. Everyone wants to be part of a winner. If they have 3 non-district games, 2-1 or even 3-0 is better than 1-2 or 0-3. Hopefully we can avoid North Shore and The Woodlands in district.
Is the right coach Nelson or Taylor? Could be. But if either is given the keys to this new car, he has to make sure that all coaches are truly on the same page with him. How do you do that in this situation? I don't know. The good thing is that most of the coaches between both staffs know each other and many have coached with each other. I still think they should open it up and just see who all applies besides Foreman ...
Basketball wise, give it to Mike T simple as that...

texaslonghorn14 reacted to Kegger in Realignment
Im guessing Houston ISD will consolidate there schools as much as possible to save money and create all HISD districts. They will probably opt all of their 4A schools to 4A D1 which creates an 8 team district. They will probably bump all of their 5A schools to 5A D1 which creates another 8 team district. So that will do some major adjustments to the districts in region 3.

texaslonghorn14 reacted to TradenupBH in Central/Ozen UIL situation
After Katrina hit my birth place of Port Sulphur, Louisiana and destroyed the entire area of Buras and Port Sulphur, they combined the two rival schools and made it the South Plaquemines Hurricanes. It's worked out for them. Hurricanes would be a good mascot, problem is the school name. I'm sure between Ozen and Central, they can come up with a name that represents both areas.

texaslonghorn14 reacted to WOSgrad in Kirbyville open Neece turns in resignation
As much as it might have all of us scratching our heads, to the person that really counts, Greg Neece, it makes perfect sense. One of the perks of doing the football previews is the chance to interact with the coaches about their programs. I can assure all of you that there are few coaches who professed as much pride in their program as Coach Neece. But something changed.....we don't know what and as much as some think they have the timetable down, we don't know when. Chances are good that we will never know. But that change inside of Greg Neece brought him to realize that he could no longer give his all as the athletic director of Kirbyville ISD and as head coach of the Kirbyville High School football team. Coming to that realization, he did the most compassionate thing that he could have done for the kids of the program....he stepped aside.
Of course, the move to a quarterback coach position at another school is quite curious. However, let's look at a couple of things.
Now what I am about to say is not is not intended to be a slight of the Kirbyville football program, or athletic program for that matter. It is an excellent program with a very enthusiastic fan base (I am probably going to get a reminder of how enthusiastic pretty soon). However, if you would canvass coaches outside of this area to take a look at the Kirbyville program and the Newton program, I wager that many more than we think would not view it as a backward move to leave the head coaching position at Kirbyville, an excellent program known well here in the area, to take an assistant's position at Newton, an excellent program that has some state wide prestige.
Even for those that do view it as a "backward" step, we can't assume that every coach will follow the same pattern of ambition. What prompted Bob Westerberg last spring to leave Allen where he has reached what many would consider the pinnacle of coaching in Texas, multiple 6A Division I State Championships, for Barbers Hill, whose last state championship appearance was just over 40 years ago? What prompted Larry Neumann, who told the Port Arthur News in September that loved coaching and that he had no intention of retiring, to, without a public word, file retirement papers with the Nederland ISD at the end of the year? We think that we may have the windows into these coaches' hearts and souls, but we don't.
Coach Neece, while we will always wonder as to your reasons why, good luck in your new position in Newton.

texaslonghorn14 reacted to cardinal66 in West Brook's Flanigan hired as new Tomball HS head coach
Coach Flanigan was looking to leave last year. He was finalist at Goose Creek Memorial, even though there is not much chance to win in 21-6a.
His comprade, Vince Seblow got the AD job at Tomball and that is why he headed there.

texaslonghorn14 reacted to Coach Klien in Dayton Broncos vs Crosby Cougars
Just as frustrated as the rest and no plank to walk. I see the talent we have an know that our kids are much better than what our record shows. I also know that with growth of young kids comes growing pains. I do suport the broncos that ia why i buy a ticket and go yo every game. So if my opinion of our program is different than yours and if that makes me a coward then so be it. Maybe i just see things that others cannot see.
