From what I’ve been told, Silsbee’s secondary is the best unit on the defense. Will be interesting to see how they handle Fuselier. I bet OL gets it going this week. Go Dawgs.

Jag86, it seems as if you know about coaching, you would be on the sideline. Talking about what should be done on a thread is probably much easier than actually being in the midst of the coaching arena. What does proper personnel to you mean “Coach”?  Also, I think it doesn’t matter where you come from, it’s where you’re at. Those coaches were hired undoubtedly because they know something about the sport they’re coaching. I’m sure you could do better though. These coaches are coming to practice everyday molding and guiding these kids. Spending day and night and even after hours trying to make sure these kids understand the game plan. They’re certainly not doing it for the paycheck. Those 3 “Outstanding Coaches” should apply for the job if they’re that “Outstanding”. Of course that’s only perception on your part. Additionally, what does a coaches height have to do with anything?  His football acumen and knowledge on defense would probably make you think twice. I’ll probably trust the coaches over someone who sits in the stands and find faults. Sports is a mini-life situation. A state championship in high school is not going to get these young me  a job or even make them better men. However, teaching teamwork, perseverance, consistency, trust, hard work, and resolve is going to make them better men. Winning is just and added bonus. Coaching is hard work. Being in the stands and pointing out what “you would do” is the easiest and most simplest thing to do. I encourage everyone to let the coaches coach, the players play, and the fans support. I also provided a link for those 3 “Outstanding” coaches who wants to coach and be on the sideline.

The reason why all hires are crap shoots, is because there is much more to factor, when evaluating the success of a football program, than just the head coach. Which is something that many on this site fail to realize.

Always convenient to play after a loss.

Yeah, some of you are definitely reaching by saying it's good for the whole team to miss the playoffs because of his actions. He's already been charged and arrested, he will be punished for his actions but the district definitely caved in to the media and punished the kids who were doing the right thing. "Making an example out of them" isn't a good enough reason to cancel the rest of those kids football season. They made an "example" out of reggie bush and USC but how many players have been either paid or given expensive things since then? This falls on the coaching staff in my opinion, they knew they had a hot head on the team but they were willing to look past that in order to field a more competitive team.

No one knows the details of the first incident other than the article circulating that says the student was involved in a similar incident during soccer. That’s it. That’s all anyone has heard. No one knows the actual severity. If the first incident was as similar as the recent incident, I imagine the coach removed the kid from the soccer program and the kid served a suspension. I imagine the kid was put on a growth plan to help the kid grow and get a second chance. I would like to believe the coach has felt the kid, up until this point, has obeyed and shown growth since the first incident. It is very clear the kid did not value and has ruined his second chance. The coach approached the situation with the mindset that he would like to put the kid in a situation where he had an opportunity  to learn from his first mistake. I know in today’s world people do not like to offer second chances, but I believe that is probably what happened in this situation. I have seen second chances work, where a kid returns to a program and becomes a model citizen. Which it seems a second chance is what this kid received. I have also seen students be kicked out of an extracurricular program and go down a path of crime, incarceration, or even death due to the lack of organization and discipline a sports program may offer. It’s a two way street. The coach gave the kid a second chance, the kid screwed it up. To me that’s the situation.

Now I have a major problem if the second chance was warranted due to his major role on the team instead of the betterment of a kid.

Horrible incident. Kid should be jailed. Kid should be expelled and removed from school. Players and coaches should not be punished because of the barbaric behavior of another 18 year old kid. Truly selfish and idiotic behavior of one student will be a stain on the school and it’s programs for a long time.

A handful of insiders doubted the coaching staff all year long up until this point. It probably feels better for that staff to prove the insiders wrong versus the outsiders.

Multiple wrecks across SETX area due to hydroplaning and wind, but sure, beat your chest about how Livingston had decent weather and game could have been played. I have spoke with multiple people from my area (Nederland), have also spoke to a few in Lumberton/Silsbee area who have received much more extensive damage than they received during Laura, but continue to down play it so you can ride your high horse. I imagine you will have a few people “like” your comment and try to down play the significance of the storm. Shame on them too. Must be nice to sit back and not have to worry about your community flooding or receiving hurricane damage, and poke fun in the meantime. People like your are sick, but I guess I’m just sensitive.

An eye for an eye. Great strategy. How about try to make accommodations to a community that could be possibly be under hurricane watch? You know, like every other school did. I am not sure Saturday will be available since the thing isn't making landfall until late Friday / early Saturday morning anyways. So now Friday, and Saturday could be out of the question. You also keep making your cute jabs, such as, "is Lumberton afraid of a little rain?" or "why Lumberton is so eager to get beat down a day earlier?" Both teams are coming off of a bye week, could Livingston not be prepared for the 1-3 Raiders, and need more days of preparation? Is Livingston scared to play the 1-3 Raiders in favorable conditions? Is Livingston hoping for Lumberton to be impacted by hurricane, so they can play the 1-3 Raiders short staffed, or potentially coming off of an evacuation? Quit being childish, and sticking up for an irresponsible decision that has been made. Hoping for safe travels to the Raiders, and a healthy game for both teams, whenever the game is played.
