  1. Coach Babin is a very nice well respected person.  I have really like him and he worked extremely hard at Lumberton  The majority of the players liked him and he increased the number of participants in football.  He will do well in his next position and I surely wish him well

However he was not very successful at Lumberton. He had a couple of playoff appearances, but if you look at his record it is slightly below .500. That should give everyone a good idea of how tough it is to win at Lumberton

  2. Nederland got beat by an over rated Lufkin team and only managed 21 against a PNG defense that is giving up close to 35 a game. I am thinking a repeat of last year where BH put a tail stomping on them. I love the Bulldogs but just don’t think they are very good this year

  3. Their teaching stipend has everything to do with experience the longer you have been in the teaching profession the more you make

coaching stipends are different. In football offensive and defensive coordinators get more than other assistants and varsity coaches get more than freshman or junior school coaches

in other sports the head of that sport will get more than the assistant

The problem is that the stipend scale at Lumberton is not very good

  4. Money is important, however lumberton ISD pay scale compares to smaller schools like Orangefield, Bridge City, and Hamshire Fannett.  Just about all assistant coaches teach in the classroom so their stipends are determined by their experience.  I think they can get a well qualified coach.  They need to make sure they get one ready to change the football culture.  I am talking about one that will get the OL and entire defensive unit more physical.  Also one that teaches discipline by eliminating mistakes and penalties. In my opinion, a strong defense has to be the #1 priority. A coach that will teach the importance of being successful in  athletics, the classroom, and life.

  5. Well I wonder why teams like Katy, Denton Ryan, Highland Park, Southlake Carrol, WOS, Aledo, and North Shore continue to always be successful.  I know they usually have talent, but I also know that winning is extremely important to every class.  They have a great desire to be like the winners before them.  I would certainly say that is a mental aspect. Do the Lumberton players want to win?  Sure they do, but they are so used to losing that  if they win, they are happy and if they lose, it’s oh well we tried.

  6. It’s fairly simple, they start getting that doubt as soon as they fall behind during a game.  Example: oh no here we go again. You are correct about parents and coaching being a big part of it. I agree that being soft is due partly to the coaching staff.  However , I also believe that winning must become very important to you as a player.  Basically the parents, community, coaching staff, and players are all responsible for a winning culture.

  7. Coach Babb did a very good job. He raised the participation numbers and  worked extremely  hard, He is a good man and cares for his players.  I know going back and forth to Houston on the weekends to see family got old.  Being with family was priority #1.  He also realized that winning football games at Lumberton is extremely difficult.  There is not much talent and the players are used to losing.  They work hard but just don’t have the mental aspect of what it takes to win.  Who ever gets the job is going to have to change the losing culture.  All the best to coach Babin and his family.

  8. As I always state, you must improve to continue to win. Got the win tonight but took a step back with no improvement will be at least a 14 point underdog vs BH. Hopefully will beat KP in 2 weeks to come in 4th, get a playoff berth vs FB Marshall and bow out at 5-5 which is an improvement from last years 4-7

  9. The Raiders started the season FRIENDLY and finished the season FRIENDLY.  It will be interesting to see if the new AD/head football coach they hire addresses the major problem of being extremely soft and not being competitive. There must be a complete culture change and completely different attitude if the Raiders plan on winning

  10. Simply according to how much Nederland improves from last week. They must continue to improve. Texas City, Dayton, and Kingwood Park games are crucial for Nederland since I don’t see them beating BH or Crosby. I simply think they must improve each week. Remember that Lufkin is overrated and that tough loss to the Indians really hurt, so these next games are crucial in my opinion
