Observing all games, you could certainly tell that they had trouble reading the secondary coverage, they forced way too many passes, had many overthrows, and just about lead the state in throwing interceptions That is due to not doing a very good job of teaching QB fundamentals If you watched the majority of their games, you would have noticed that for the most part, they played like an HISD school I would say the reasons were very little talent and poor coaching
-
The 3 QB’s the last 2 years May have been the best they had. If that is the case then they didn’t have any good ones at that position and the coaching has been poor
-
So has Barrow coached the QB’s the last 2 seasons or someone else. Whoever has coached them has done a miserable job, because the QB’s the last 2 seasons have been about as bad as you can get. They be good players at other positions but they are not QB material
-
Yes the Bulldogs have had some good QB’s over the years. Two others come to mind Steve Stuart and Don Clayton The problem is the QB’s the past 2 seasons have not been good. They may be good at other positions, but they are not QB’s. They are also not being taught good mechanics, which leads be to believe the QB coach is not teaching these players very well. Their throwing mechanics are extremely weak
-
If you are going to get a good QB, you better find a coach that knows how to coach them I think the past 2 seasons, they were pretty close to throwing more interceptions than nearly every team in the state
-
Yes, he is a talented player and Anahuac had a nice season, however the topic is Nederland’s upcoming season Again you have Barrow and staff that continues to do a poor job of coaching, so we are looking at anywhere from 2-8 to 5-5 and sitting at the house again when playoffs begin Nederland’s administrators are not wise enough to see that the current coaching staff can’t get it done
-
Yes, I agree Another quality thought that leads me to believe that Lamar’s athletic office and administration do not care about athletics
-
The information that I have always received is that Davis refuses to let his assistants coach. The pitching coach may be a good one, but if the head coach tries to do everything himself it doesn’t matter Lamar needs to get rid of Davis, even if you have to buy his contract out and please get rid of Hooks also
-
It didn’t take the Cardinals long to head back home Another 0-2 conference tournament showing under Davis tenure 4 errors and poor hitting again Davis coached teams are now 1-8 in conference tournaments. His coaching record at Lamar is poor also It is time for Lamar to send Davis and Hooks packing. It should be obvious that they can’t get the job done
-
Well it looks like Lamar made a safe trip to Lake Charles, however someone forget to load the bats. The pitching was actually pretty good except for the starter, but the hitting stumbled As usual Davis teams are now 1-7 in conference tournament play and I look for them to be 1-8 after tomorrow and headed home for the summer The interesting question is will the new AD make changes in the baseball and softball programs or will they keep Davis and Hooks and continue to settle for poor performing programs
-
I will only complain if they lose 2 straight. I believe since Davis has been at Lamar they have only won 1 tournament game
-
Doesn’t matter, basically same coaching staff, so anywhere from 2-8 to 5-5. This is not hating, just truth and reality
-
It’s working
-
I agree with you. I don’t like the idea of the tournament winner outcome either. You play all of those conference games and determine the regional qualifier with just a few tournament games. IMO, the conference champion should get the bid and do away with the tournament ( at least on all the conferences that only get 1 team to regionals)
-
Oh thanks, I was thinking that it was Northwestern that Lamar had won the 1st series
-
Looks like. 4 seed New Orleans won the series vs Lamar and that is only 2 teams at 13-11
-
Yes nice series for Lamar. I am thinking anywhere from 3rd to 5th seed. If things go Lamar’s way today 3rd
-
Another nice win for Lamar. Now hopefully a seeep tomorrow to be 13-11 and at least move ahead of McNeese. The only one above 7th that they took series is Northwestern, so I don’t know if that would put Lamar 6th or better
-
Not haters, just facts
-
Very good coaching staff. That is why they played like an HISD school last season. Certainly they will be better, I don’t think they can be any worse Losses FFM, Dayton, PAM, PNG, TC wins GP, Willowridge WOS, Silsbee, SF big ? Marks also if a good coaching staff why is record not very good in years there?
-
Sounds like a big plus for the Bulldogs, however same coaching staff, so look for a 2-8 to possibly 5-5 season for the Bulldogs
-
Need 2 more wins and be ahead of McNeese and hopefully some others. Nice to see the bats come alive and some nice pitching
-
They need to win all 3 to avoid being 12-12 and tied with McNeese. A play in game vs them in Lake Charles would not be good. I do not see them being above 6th or 7th. They just don’t have the pitching. Do not be surprised if they go 1-2 vs HCU
-
Another lackluster performance by the Cards, again playing down to their level of competition and again poor pitching and not much hitting or runs we will see tomorrow if they split or go 0-2 hopefully they can win 2 of 3 from HCU

Who has the best chance to make it to state next season?
spidersal replied to lcm93's topic in High School Football
Another good season expected for the Raiders, however they will not make it to state, possibly 3rd round
