Sugarbear reacted to oldschool2 in East Chambers/Anahuac..... Could this be for the district title?
I heard that Anahuac has some legit skill kids.  Some kids that may or may not have come in from outside the district...which happens when you upgrade facilities.  Even so, it should be very apparent to any who doubted that East Chambers remains the team to beat within that local 3A district.  There obviously is a culture there that other schools should aspire to have.  A good friend of mine told me just last week, "Anahuac definitely CAN win because of the talent they have. The problem is that East Chambers usually doesn't know that they're supposed to lose".
Good win, East Chambers.  Unfortunately (usually), when a team with that mindset runs into them down the road it usually comes down to playoff winning experience.  Miracles happen, though (Texas A&M).

So I have a theory that I have developed over the years.  The United States was founded by individuals that lived during a time that required them to be realistic about their life and caused them to question things that didn't make sense like "why am I listening to (following rules of) someone that is thousands of miles away to determine the way I should live."  Well in order to destroy that philosophy you must first destroy the things that that culture developed in the course of their history. For example music, the sports they created, their language, and their faith are very important to their identification of their culture.  So to destroy this culture you have to get rid of it.
So here is my theory . . . years ago they introduced soccer to the United States and they said this is the most popular sport in the world and of course in the beginning everyone in the U.S. said "who cares we have our sports and we love them" and no-one thought soccer would ever amount to anything in the U.S. at that time and 40 years later it is still here AND growing.  I always thought that if you played soccer it was because you couldn't play anything else (I know that isn't true now but back then I did).  (anybody remember the phrase Baseball, hotdogs, apple pie and ___________?) Yeah my point.  No one is promoting anything U.S. very much anymore. I have watch professional football break down into what Terry Bradshaw said "we should be putting skirts on the quarterbacks."  If you played football and didn't understand how violent it can be then you are a fool and get out (now we have targeting rules) I mean no kidding someone may be looking to hit you, duh. Professional football has been watered down but that didn't ruin it, what has ruined it and other U.S. specific sports has be the politicization of all U.S. sports.  We use to come together in spite of our differences to play a game everyone loved and no one cared what your politics were and now I can't stand to watch the scripted equivalent of WWE in football, basketball and maybe even baseball.
Music is simple, does anyone think that "country music" today is the same country music of 40 years ago?  Well it's not in fact the instruments that made country music country music are missing. Our cultural music is disappearing and yet the slide began 40 years ago (and arguably longer) and it was slow but now if you listen it is nothing more than pop music.
Our faith, yeah anyone want to argue that a once Christian majority and tolerant of others is now under attack from those same people we were tolerant of?  Christians were tolerant of others because we were U.S. citizens and we had religious freedom so yeah believe as you wish.
And language, I will just ask this question: what pronoun do you go by?

These masked people in the store are trying to make the unmasked feel guilty and say they should wear masks to “protect and think about others”. No one thought about me when I needed toilet paper. The shelves were empty. Where is the mutual concern for me? Unless I have Covid, wearing a mask is useless, and I’m not sure that that is 100% effective.
People are so controllable…..all I have to do is start a rumor that there is going to be a ketchup shortage. Won’t take long for ketchup to vanish from the shelves.

My wife just bought ketchup.  Doubt there’s ever a shortage, the price was to durn high.  I think it was $4 for a freaking bottle of ketchup.  Those of us on a fixed income are going to be hard pressed to put food on the table.  Of course if we can’t eat, we won’t need to take our mask off.  😂😂🤣😂😂

Republican Senate candidate J.D. Vance hit back at Vice President Kamala Harris' latest argument against voter ID laws, Monday, reacting on "Fox & Friends" to the VP's claim that rural voters don't have the ability to make photocopies of their IDs.
J.D. VANCE: We have all kinds of crazy things in small towns in the state of Ohio and across the country. We've got electricity, we've got running water, we even have soap. And it's amazing that the vice president of the United States thinks that people can't make photocopies in rural communities. I mean, it's like she thinks that if you go to a small town in this country, you've got the tractor supply store, you've got the guys with the dueling banjos and there's nothing else there. And of course, that's ridiculous. And anybody who lives in these communities or spent time in them knows that.

Made perfect sense to me, but that’s one older person to another.  Younger folks have new vocabularies.  My introduction into this word game stuff came one day many years ago when talking in front of a couple of my G’kids - I said “cr-p”, which was the word we children used in lieu of the sh-t word (back in the day).  My daughter said, “don’t use that word in front of the children.  I stood there, mouth open, trying to grasp what she said.  Us old folks have a lot to learn.  😂🤣😂

So here is my 2 cents on this getting old thing . . . I am going to do my best to teach my grandchildren that there is a better way and to never be a victim. As a father I am 50/50 on that, my daughter is a victim and my son is not and he is the one with children at least right now. I wish I could have been 100% but I am also not responsible for the choices of another adult but still I didn't stop loving my daughter.  I will fight to keep my children free in a world where that meaning is blurred but here is the rub.  Using Fauci  as an example he said "people need to give up their freedom for the good of society." This is why I will fight for my grandchildren because FREEDOM isn't safe but it is a heck of a good time.    I hope this makes some kind of sense.

I’ll relate what I’ve mentioned to you before - how fast time goes by when you get old.  I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention Andy Rooney’s quote - “Life is like a roll of toilet paper, the nearer to the end you get, the faster it goes”.  My great example is my pill containers.  I have three of them that are for 7 days each, so three weeks worth.  I have to refill them every week & a half (at least).  I hate to blink, 15 seconds go bye.  A yawn, two minutes.  I use to think my eyes were getting bad, now I realize everything is happening so fast, it’s just a blur.
Anyway, as my feeble brain comes up with something, more rambling to follow.  😂

Manners are gone.  Common decency and respect for elders is gone.  The attitude now is say whatever you want (free speech), do whatever you want (defund the police), act however you want (it’s not your fault - it’s society, the government, your parent’s fault, etc).  As people continue to turn their back on God, and as our country continues to distance itself from Him we as a country will continue rolling downhill like a snowball headed for hell.

As I morph from old man to curmudgeon, let me share some poo.  Out last night and ran into an old friend.  He made a remark, “I hate to get out because people are crazy”.  Why bring it up?  My wife & I have been complaining about that, so at least others see it.  Drive like nuts.  Zero manners.  And cell phones - good grief.  I contemplate the possible suicide rate if all the cell phones were taken away.
Now, since my 300 or so TV stations are so bad, we were watching Dr. Pimple Popper.  Lady had a large marble size cyst in her hair.  She was concerned about having a bald spot up there when the cyst was removed.  Ordinarily, I could understand her concern, but this lady had a lip ring and a nose ring.  Heck, she could be bald and I wouldn’t notice it with Bubba’s Scrap Iron hanging out of every orifice.  What is it that makes a person want to disfigure themselves?   Guess I’m just getting old(er).

Anyone breaking into a home in this area, probably the whole State, is probably taking a 50-50 chance of losing his/her life.  Sad part most of us don’t think about is the grief of the homeowner.  I’d shoot them but I suspect I’d still feel some remorse at having to take a life.
