District favorites for 2023 (any District)?
89Falcon replied to lcm93's topic in High School Football
Got it, just seeking clarification on your statement that "neutral Refs and neutral field" was the difference between the first meeting and the second. It would seem to imply that the Refs were "not neutral" in the first encounter. I would submit that the difference was that PNG continued to improve with the new staff over the several weeks between the two meetings, while FBM was likely more of a "finished product" earlier in the season. -
District favorites for 2023 (any District)?

So, do you believe that the refs in the first match between PNG/FBM were residents of Fort Bend or FBM alumni? Ended up with "non-alumni" refs in the neutral game? My experience has been that referees are very seldom from the town/community where they are officiating each week. Many of them drive great distances to cover matches. I am unaware of any crews that only officiate games in their hometown. -

That is about right for 2023. Dayton will taking the top spot for the next few years after. -
I expect Dayton will be seeing fewer HC games over the next few years than what has been seen in recent history.
-
PNG should be set up well for 2023. Dayton will maintain competitiveness seen this year while relying on youth but will be coming strong 2024 to 2026. Assume that FB Marshall will remain intact. Who knows how the alignment will shake out after next year.

Suratt will be retiring after his son graduates in three years.

Yep, you are "entitled to your opinion" as is, everyone else to be "entitled to their opinion about your opinion". If you want open your mouth, you can do so and alienate any fan base you choose. There are many who would like to enjoy a sport without the introduction of political narratives. PNG doesnt need to do anything other, "keep being a treasure to HS Football in SETX". -
***UIL State Championship Game Thread***
89Falcon replied to PhatMack19's topic in High School Football
Just curious about this observation that I have argued to the contrary on this forum but I am beginning to have a different perspective. I does seem to be an advantage to have the State Championship game as a home game each year. Is it settled that the State Championship games will be in AT&T forever from this point forward? -
Understood. Do the coaches in Vidor just not know as much as the fans? or do they intentionally lose? I have seen scenarios where the fans are the true experts of the community while the coaches who see the players in practice everyday and during workouts for the entire year generally do not know much.
-
After "you know what" this season, they will continue to say it. Prepare for more of the same for the next three years.
-
Yes.
-
So, Do Vidor folks seek "bad coaches"? Do they screen the good ones out during the interview?
-
What is Aledo's enrollment?
-
Not sure, but I will be there. We are driving up Saturday morning.
-
Agreed, they had a good showing for the first year in 5AD1. I wonder if they were among the larger schools in the division?
-
Trying to get some information. Has Aledo been in 5AD1 the same amount of time as Crosby? They seem like they may have had a better adjustment period than Crosby.
-
Guess I will be pulling for Aledo next weekend. I plan to be at the game.

Getting close to the win! You know I am here supporting you.

PNG is a perfect "real-time" example of what happens when a Coach implements an effective scheme game plan, combined with a group of players who buy in and commit to executing what they have been coached. PNG has progressed every week throughout the year and has become a completely different team than what started in August. PNG coaches put a plan together for each week and the PNG players embrace and execute the game plan each week regardless of who the opponent is and what the narrative may be. PNG are definitely a team that is easy to pull for.
