  1. Understood, you still have not revealed exactly what they did at practices that would qualify as "poor coaching". You keep referencing "what the players did" but you have not told us "what the coaches did" that they "should not have done". What "fundamentals" did the coaches "not teach"? Are you indicating that the coaches should have taught the QBs to throw? Do you believe that the coaches went through practices and did not work on "throwing"?
  2. How do you know the "coaching has been poor"? What part of the practice and which drills/techniques do you think they should have done instead of the ones they chose? Or, What would you have done differently?
  3. So, who should have been the QB other than two you mentioned? Who in the program was "QB material"?
  4. And following "back to back" McCowns.
  5. District 10 has 7 teams with a total of 154 starting positions. I wonder how many of the 154 positions were occupied by freshman? Maybe someone can pull the numbers.
  6. I guess we will find out in a few months.
  7. Westwood does have a good group coming through and will likely have the most athletes along with Coldspring. However, they (like Anahuac last year) will have a Freshman QB. Even though this particular FR QB is going to end up as 4-5 start recruit (also in basketball), he is still a FR and it will be a tall order to start at QB which is why I dont think they will win the district.
  8. Always amazed at those who are unable to process what has been said when it is written in plain text. No one has said anything about "unheard of". It is a "rare" and it is also "impressive" when it happens. The previous debate was to those trying to diminish the Anahuac Fr QB. Westwood will have one that will be in the 4-5 star range next year.
  9. Westwood will have the single best athlete in the district (likely the region/Terry Bussey type) for the next 4 years. That is why I have them 2nd. Not bad logic though on either district.
  10. I have heard the same thing for coaching regimes one year and then the next year everyone is praising the same regime. Some of the best coaching jobs are done during losing seasons.
  11. 100%. No team can win without the players.
  12. "Great" for a freshman.
  13. When the coaching staff was meeting at the beginning of the season and contemplating expectations for the team with a freshman QB, they were not thinking "9 wins and 2nd round" and neither would any coach in Texas. They most certainly were not thinking "we can win 5 games with our backup LG at QB". In fact., if someone told them "you will win 9 games with a freshman QB" they would have likely went and had a party.
  14. "Daddy ball" dont put up the numbers that the Barrier kid put up. EVERY coach that reads this fully understands what the kid has done and that he is a great player.
  15. Understood. So, you named "1" example? Also, "in that district" a backup LG could not win 5 games at QB. You have no idea what you are talking about and have clearly never coached at any level.
  16. If they have one just as good, I would put them back at the top. I have heard they have a good group coming up.
  17. I have watched several Franklin games from last year. Do you know which players are going to be back?
  18. Everyone has been saying he is leaving depending on where his dad goes.
  19. I probably need to change my prediction for District 10 since Anahuac is likely not going to have their QB. Top 3 changed to: 1. EC 2. OF 3. Anahuac The rest stay the same.
  20. It is highly uncommon for a freshman to start at QB at any level. It is also uncommon for freshman to start on varsity as freshman in other positions. You should do a roster check and see what the percentage of "freshman starting and winning on varsity" is for the area. I suspect it be in the range of 3-6% at 3A and close to zero in 4A. If you believe a "backup left guard" can play QB and go .500, you have revealed your own ignorance regarding football. We can let everyone else read your comments and draw their own conclusions.
  21. He had 9 "signature wins" last year because he was a freshman starting on varsity. Winning 9 games with a freshman QB is impressive (with no qualifiers). I doubt if anyone of the teams he played against had a "freshman QB". Name all of the freshman QBs that have won more than 9 games as a starter. I suspect he will be a starter at whatever school he lands at and it will not matter what classification.
  22. Or what is most likely, he will be great anywhere he plays. All of that rhetoric about "what he did" or "didnt do" was done by a "Freshman on varsity". For a freshman to perform at that rate on varsity at any level is exceedingly impressive. He is a "player" and will only get better as he matures. Wherever he lands will be set at QB including 1A-6A.
  23. In an effort to get some discussion going again, here is what I got for 2023 3AD1 predictions: District 9 1. Coldspring 2. Westwood 3. Diboll 4. Woodville 5. Shepherd 6. Crockett 7. Huntington District 10 1. Anahuac 2. East Chambers 3. Orangefield 4. Buna 5. Kirbyville 6. Hardin 7. Tarkington
  24. Yep, could end up with Trinity going into 9 and possibly Tarkington if they were to stay down.
  25. Understood. A scenario could go like this: OC- Can I bring my own playbook? HC- Yes, as long as your play book is what I want to run.
