So you are telling a high school coach to make sure he has players that can shoot? U do realize he only has the players that are available to him right? He doesn’t offer scholarships lol this is comical

Yea, man, shooting is a skill and it can be taught.  What's comical is you saying coaches only have the players available to them when the guy you are referring to apparently has all of Beaumont available to him.  Work on shooting or do a better job recruiting shooters!

He was not there. Out of town.

So LCM goes into Lumberton and wins without their starting point guard?  That's big for them.  I heard they'd lost some kids from last year and early scores showed it.  Maybe they are coming around, maybe the district is wacky.

Lumberton will be fine.  I always like to pull for Josh Mitchell.  You can tell he is living and dying with every possession.  Some coaches just sit there.  Or play stall ball.

The question that you people who love this game so much are missing is. Why do you think one team is allowed to “stall“? Well I’ll answer it for you. It’s 100% because the opponent refuses to play man to man defense. “Stall ball” would be obsolete without teams sitting in zones. Since we want to outlaw “stall ball” should we outlaw zones as well??? So who do we blame for “stall ball” the offense or the defense? Before you judge someone please become knowledgeable of what you are talking about.

I blame the offense.  Good coaches teach their teams how to play against multiple styles of play.  A team sitting in zone is no less playing basketball than a team in man.  Holding the ball for quarters at a time isn't playing at all and it's non-competitive.  Saying that we're not good enough to score against zone so we're not even going to try sends the wrong message.  Especially in preseason/tournament games when you should be working on this stuff.

However, I think there are situations where it's wise like holding the ball for the last shot of the quarter.  I also like how Lincoln used to do it.  They'd hold it, draw the defense out, and then carve it up.  None of this dribble in and dribble back out crap.  Compete!

  4. So who is racist?  Is it Orangefield fans or admin?  Is it the officials in the game?  Is it the people who think Rideaux is breaking rules?  And who's making that accusation?  I heard it was the coach himself, but I hope not.  There are obvious outliers and exceptions, but athletics tend to be a medium where race doesn't matter at all.  I wishfully think that kind of accusation is unfounded, however I know it is divisive and dangerous.

ol believe me gray had nothing on Mike.  I knew gray as well.   Let me just say this. After the first few home games During timeouts we had to pick up our chairs and move them 20 foot onto floor due to complaints from fans sitting behind our bench. I could go on and on but I actually like Mike deane and don’t want to paint a negative picture of him cause off the court he was a comical and fun to be around guy.

    Jekyll and Hyde.

I'm kidding.  I agree that coaches should coach however they like.  But coaches also need to know that if you yell at the kids, the scorer's table, the stands, the refs, etc, you probably don't get to coach at all for very long.

Gees guys or girls can we get back on topic. This has gotten ridiculous.

also to set the record straight coach Gerald parr in the late 90s and Coach Kenner early 2000s. Had 20 win seasons.

    former all state alum.

also both of those coaches would get in player’s faces and let them know when they screwed up.

as a whole too many dang softies.  Learn how to take criticism. Kids gotta learn how to deal with things without parents softening up and making excuses.
mamba mentioned college and real world. You think high school coaches are too hard shoot college coaches can down right get nasty.  I played for Mike deane.... need I say more.

Im glad to see Hf back to winning. Good job tigee.

Mike Deane must not have made you guys go to writing classes.  Don't know anything about him as a coach, but no way he compares to Gray Giovanni.
