  1. It was a scrimmage and both teams played better than the officateing was and if I were a coach, I would make sure I never-ever had them. a total embarrassment to the officateing profession.officals that are biased are nothing but cheats, and if you will cheat you will probably steal. I could say a lot more about them but can think of nothing positive. as for the boys, both teams played good clean football .  Like it or not this is the way I feel.JMO
  2. just got to mention Newton defense, salty in 1998 shutting out Daingerfield for state championship , pretty salty defense in 2004 & 2005 allowing only 54 yds rushing ave. per game. last year ,they were pretty salty.I believe  they were pretty salty in 1989, the year they missed going to state when they missed an extra point  ???? after time had expired.  JMHO
  3. Newton has  a chance to win, slim but they have athletes. Just like during football Kountze had a chance to win, slim but they had some good athletes. with that being said Kountze is #1 and well deserving of it. If we play sound basketball I will be proud of our team. If they score the Hundred let their band play TAP's  like they did in football in the late sixties.
  4. I don't know who we could have beaten in AAA but playing Jasper, Silsbee, and West Orange win or lose gets you battle tested. Truthfully Bridge City was a descent team, Liberty was supposed to be descent but who knew their Star quarter-back was going to move to Shreveport, La to play for Evangeline Christian and that Orangefield's head coach would quit coaching due to health. I wish we would play Jasper, Silsbee, and West-Orange or at least two tough ones but Jasper and us got in to many fights on Thursday night. Silsbee played a pre-district of AAAA teams. West-Orange played a tougher schedule. Sometimes you play the hand you are dealt. Like i said, i do hope we go back to playing Jasper, Silsbee, or West-Orange. I do believe it would be great but I believe we would lose more than win. Just a fact when you play a step higher they will be better. If you can get battle tested, you can lose a game (even a couple games ) and it prepare you for the play-offs.The Eagles of 1998 lost to West-Orange and came back and won it all!!!JMO
  5. sometimes,it just aint your day, when we would have had the safety if not for the face mask penalty. if his hands would have been a few inches higher Newton would have been up 10-0 instead the next play  Cameron went 79 yards for a touchdown and it is 8-8. a ten point swing basically on one play . we committed the foul but i know  the boy that face masked sure didn't mean too,  but for a second you could see the air taken out of the Yoemen. would have, could have and should have don't cut it . It happened and was a big swing for the Yoemen. They won fair and I hope they win it all! JMO
  6. Cameron 39-Newton 22, Cameron came out pretty much as I said on def Eight in the box but we didn't pass but a couple of times in the first half (haven't figured that one out yet) I told my wife that if Newton didn't have a 20 point lead by half time we would probably get beat. Our defense is so aggressive that we tend to wear down after 3 quarters. probably some from not having to play over 3 quarters this year and its hard to be that aggressive for any longer with -out rotating these kids  in and out some for a breather. The kids left it all on the field tonight and they played one heck of a game. I hate to see it end for these guys but they were awesome this year. Cameron's defense  had a great game plan holding our offense to only two touchdowns. Cameron's offense had a great game plan mixing the run with the pass ( the slant pass and the deep pass) You kept our #2 and #3 running the whole game chasing receivers that were decoys. Anyone knows boxing, when your legs go, you are in deep trouble. Again I congratulate the kids on this year, heck of a run, heck of a game. We are proud of you!
