I think Kirbyville will be stronger and will give all the 2a teams problems. the numbers game favors the Wildcats and this is 2a football. remember their  last two years in 2a football that they played for state championship. jmho

my problem with all of this is that the school board didn't hold the two kids (they wouldn't get back on the bus)that made the problem to the same standards as the coach. Fire the coach, declare the two kids a liability to the school and students. kids doing harm without  having punishments for them to fit the crime or attitude shows the school board wants NO accountability .alot of times, small towns especially vote in school board members that have no business sense. School is a multi-million dollar business and should be treated that way. Teachers should be held to higher standards but students should have a higher standard than just being able to breath.jmho

I think Newton was in this dist in 2005 when they won state or several teams of this dist. was in the same dist with them.

Coach Barbay decides West-Orange is good enough to open things up with passes, play-action passes and even a reverse pass-run option for the win. Coldsprings 14-10 West-Orange. good luck to both teams and pray no injuries.

one DCTF editor picked Newton to get beat by Tatum in the fourth round. the other editor picked Newton to get beat by East Chambers in the fourth round and East Chambers to lose in state finals to Wall i think. I'm not positive on state div 1 game prediction .Lets play some good football dist.10-2a div 1. I am still pulling for them eagles all the way.

I hope East Chambers, Newton and ? (probably Woodville)all play well  It would look good for dist 10 2a div 1.I could see any two  getting to regional finals and maybe deeper. You have to be good ,stay healthy, and get lucky to get 4 rounds deep or deeper. I also see some other teams that could do the same from other districts.

DCTF rankings mean absolutely nothing. Two years ago, if my memory serves me , Muleshoe wasn't ranked and won Div 1 class 2a.  last year , I don't believe Idalou was ranked all year,and won the div 2 championship.( I could be wrong ). Anyhow,the play-offs will take care of themselves. I don't want Newton to get ranked, they seem to get the big head which is a quick exit in the play-offs because we don't get overs.

Newton last missed the play-offs in 1993. I believe it is 17 years in a row. so from 1994 up to now.

East Chambers got a good coach and I think Newton got a good  one also in W T Johnston. I believe time will tell about  this year,s crop of new coaches. E. C. hopefully Will go a ways in the play-offs and hopefully Newton Will also. Good coaching brings out goood responsible young men more pr-pared for life full of ups and downs. They teach you that you are not entitled to everything, you have got to go out and earn your spot  in life.

i will take E. C. by 7 only because home field advantage is worth about 7. Could go either way but I don't see the Bucs losing at hom. jmo

I don't see how Newton should be rated higher than E. C. I am a Newton fan but Newton lost and shouldn't be ranked higher than E. C. . Worst case scenario would they be ranked the same. Just saying E. C. and Anahuac are 2-0 in district.

Great job East Chambers, you outplayed Newton from both sides of the ball. your game plan was well executed. I don't know what our game plan was. I do know from the past couple of week we cannot run up the middle on short yardage. couldn't against Kirbyville,Silsbee,Buna or East Chambers. I also saw Newtons defense needs help learning how to tackle one on one. Some of the kids thought you guys were soft, you showed them i hope  or they will continue to read how great they are and show up for games for teams to lay down. I just don,t see how you can get the big head before a game when the other team beat you last year. East Chambers play like you did last night as a team and physical like you did. East Chambers has a chance to be good. you have a couple of good runners and the offensive line was salty. Now a warning,anytime you go to reading things that  makes your head swell or listen to ole gas bags like me. Beware, you want be ready for the next game.It is just a fact proven year after year.

i never refereed to Winnie people as simple minded. I did say " I will put it this way and make it easy for a simple minded human." I never said Winnie people . I just thought using the tragedy of Hurricane Ike and the months of agony you all went through would let you understand that the kids at East Chambers wasn,t as football focused as the other years. When Hurricane Ike hit you guys my heart went out for you all. My wife and I went to High Island and did what we could.We didn't do enough but did what we could. anyway, think whatever of me ,it really doesn't matter.

We had to try to play through a big loss last year when Curtis Barbay passed away. You don't lose someone like Curtis  without a big effect on everything.

[/quote]                                                                                                                          You guys won last year but DON'T try to understand the facts of last year. When my friend passed away suddenly last year I was in shock, a sense of loss, to many emotions to put in any post and I am 64 years young. The kids lost their head coach ,probably most of the kids lost a father figure and I a sure they wanted to win for their coach and loved one. however,they had no leader, only practiced one time that week with there mind on everything . I will put it this way and make it easy for a simple minded human. How long did it take the Winnie people to get over Hurricane Ike and could you really expect the kids to concentrate on football as in a normal year. You won last year and I don't want sympathy ,just some understanding because we lost a great friend,leader, coach and so much more for different people.

hope our Wildcat neighbors play up to there capabilities and get ready for district without any injuries on either team. My brain says West Orange will win but my heart is pulling for Kirbyville to win at home.

Newton by 28  this team reminds me of the 2004, 2005,2007 and 2008 teams. They can run and pass and they have a solid defense.

Truthfully, the first half Buna matched up much better than i expected. First half was a lot of hard hitting and Buna was  pretty physical. I think they will get in the play-offs if something terrible doesn't happen. I don't think we are better than everyone else in 10 2a div 1. We have talent but way to cocky for a better than average 2a team. Good job Buna, you fought till the end. Good job Newton,the second half you  played as a team.
