Interesting observations. I believe BC has found a nice compliment to Shugart in the lefty Macfarland, he has thrown really well since coming back from an injury. He threw 5 innings of shutout ball in relief against HF and threw 4 innings with no earned against HJ. BC must have enough arms to be "competitive", check their record and strength of schedule.

As far as PNG goes I agree on the strength of their pitching staff, no dispute. As far as saying it's not even close between them and the next team goes that may be a stretch until they consistently hit enough to not depend on pitching a shutout. I do believe they are most definitely in the discussion as the best team in the triangle.

I've read this post several times and I just have to ask the question? What constitutes "dynamic"? Watched both these young men for a couple of years now and they are both the definition of "gamers", I like them both. Very equal in my opinion and a terrific 1-2 punch. Johnson threw a great game against BC, deserved better than he got, a couple of errors really hurt him.

Buna is a good team, period. They are solid and steady, nothing flashy, just blue collar guys who play hard and limit mistakes. They will be right in the middle of the district title chase. As far as saying "Silsbee has not lived up to the hype" I'd have to disagree. Take a look at the schedule these guys have played, it's basically been a "Pre district state tournament". Caldwell, China Spring, Diboll, plus several good 4A teams, that's a tall order for anybody. While other teams beat up on hapless nobodies the Tigers went out and scheduled a NASTY string of opponents to prepare for district and beyond. Real baseball people know the Tigers are for real and will certainly have a say in who wins 21-3A.

How about the guy from Tarkington who just K'd 20 against Shepherd.....and beat both Kolek brothers in the same game. That's a high school highlight one kid won't forget.

Same can be said for WOS. HF has been a thorn in the Mustangs side in recent years despite some great pitching performances.
Crucial game to start the season for both squads. Always have to watch the crazy plays that seem to happen when the game is played at "the box" in Fannett. Should be a good one.

I think Memorial is a long long way from going back to the drawing board! Coach Riojas has done an outstanding job with that
program and they are headed in the right direction. There are some really good athletes playing over there right now and they
certainly have a very legit shot at making the playoffs. I was very impressed at how well they swing the bat, against BC they hit several on the screws but just happened to be right at somebody. BC played a great game and sometimes you just have to tip your
hat and say "it's not our night". Give these guys some credit, they are a good team that can't be
taken lightly by anyone. Bright future over there for sure.
