If you want to talk about flawed arguments, let's look at the whole man-made global warming theory. The government says the Earth is warming at a catastrophic rate. The data we used to calculate this has been altered, manipulated and even pulled out of thin air, so no one actually knows if the Earth is really warming. We say the warming is catastrophic but in reality we really don't have a clue as to what the effect will be. Now that we have told you that we all agree on our doomed future, let's figure out the cause. Well...since we have no clue, let's just blame humans. Wait, what. What role does Mother Nature play in this settled science (gotta keep reminding the folks that the debate is over). What effect do volcanos play, thermal sea fissures, glacial sun glare, glacial movements, ever changing (and not understood) weather patterns. Hell, we don't even have a clue as to why lightning appears before and after earthquakes. What about solar flares and mass thermal ejections, sun spots, sun hibernation, changes in Earth's axis tilt, the moon's gravitational pull, and the other countless effects that might contribute to Earth's weather patterns. Forget about all of those things, the debate is settled. Now let's propose plans on how to reverse man's ruinous activities. Any suggestions. No. Let's just throw out some proposals, don't worry about testing them, and throw a lot of money at them.
Before anyone starts throwing money at a problem, there are a few things that need to be addressed. Step 1. Identify the problem. Step 2. Propose solutions to the problems. Step 3. Empirically test these proposals to find best solution. Step 4. Implement solution. The government thinks we are at Step 4, but anyone that has spent one hour or less of research can quickly ascertain that we are at Step 1. And even if we somehow get to the point that we all agree that Step 1 is reality, then we should move to Step 2, not Step 4. Hence, the crisis. Since this so-called warming is so catastrophic, we need to start implementing solutions that we have no idea what effect (good or bad) they will have on the Earth.
Before we uncover the effects of man-made global warming, how about we study why man-made global warming theories are at the forefront of this administrations' list of problems. One theory is that making it into a catastrophic scenario then Americans will be more willing to dish out a lot of money to help clean the environment. Americans will be more agreeable to stricter and stricter EPA regulations. These things will be beneficial to the longevity of man and earth, but to get them implemented we have to create a doomsday scenario. The ends justify the means.
Another theory, and one that runs congruent with the first, is that we need to spend tons of money on third world countries to bring them up to par with us. The American people will not agree to just give our wealth to these countries, so we have to create a doomsday scenario. Trick the people into thinking that the only way to save mankind is to redistribute our wealth to the poorer nations under the guise of saving the planet. The ends justify the means.
I don't have a problem with America investing money in keeping our environment clean. But I do have a problem with our government spending trillions of our hard earned tax payer dollars on a solution to a problem that has never been defined.

I almost voted for Carson. He has, by far, the most integrity of the candidates.  When I ask myself: 1) Who would be best to stabilize/repair the economy? 2) Who would appoint the most conservative SC nominee? 3) Who would the enemies of the U.S. respect and fear the most?
The answer didn't point to Ben Carson... While I genuinely admire and respect him, I  don't believe he would be the best president. Saying that, I honestly believe Trump, Clinton or Sanders would be much worse!

Reb, your posts and opinions are valued, and even if I disagree,  I would never be offended. Under no circumstances would I ever vote for Clinton or Sanders. If Trump gets the nomination,  it would take a lot of prayer before I  ever voted for him.

Your post indicate to me, while our views may not always agree, you are serious about your vote, and I admire that.  I'll just put my 2 cents in and I won't be offended if you disagree completely.
First, on all 3 issues, Bernie the Socialist is out on all 3.  1- economy, Trump the business man should be top.  2- SC, I suspect Trump would at least appoint moderates. Hillary very liberals.  And 3- just a guess they'd fear Trump, but if pushed, I think Hillary might respond.
    Good luck in your selection.

The foreign policy deal is not much of a deal breaker in my opinion. Unfortunately in the days of mass and instant media intelligence or ability has little to do with the presidency as much status and the ability to look good or fire up a crowd. I wonder how many of our former presidents (even some believed to be great) would have even gotten the office had the public had more access.
Out of the almost 2 million people that voted for Abraham Lincoln actually heard him speak? What dirt would they have on him that could not be told or gotten out to the mass public at that time? Would he have been a good debater with today's moderators?
A president has a cabinet of who he believes to be experts in given fields. A president doesn't need to know every detail of the military at all times. He doesn't need to know what diseases might spread this year or what flu vaccine needs to be distributed. That is why he has a cabinet that he can go to in order to get that information and then have them do his bidding. If the president knows it all, why ever call a cabinet meeting?
Carson is certainly smart enough (as are others) to understand the importance of a strong cabinet and would have surely appointed a strong Secretary of State, Secretary of Defense, etc. I trust his opinion once he hears what is on the table to make a reasonable response.
That doesn't matter however. It is how he appears that is the key.
Carson would probably have made a good president but he has no experience in politics. He does not know how to make the people like him for something more than his intelligence. Unfortunately that might be the most important qualification.
I am sure nothing above is earth shattering and everyone pretty much understands it. I just felt like saying it.

If i were going to affiliate with a political party, the Libertarian party would 100% be the party i'd choose.  It's socially liberal.  It's fiscally conservative.  It's perfect for me!  Except it sure seems like the libertarian party has trouble coming up with candidates that aren't nut jobs.  it seems like most of the libertarians who actually have enough desire to run for office are really only doing so to try and get marijuana legalized.  Oh well.

I'm about to leave work and go vote. It is disheartening... When there were 17 Republican canidates,  I was optomistic, thinking Trump was the joker on the stage and would force candidates to talk about real issues. I didn't see this coming,  but should have. The Republican party is reaping what it has sown, and this is what they have to show for it. The have completely spurned the Tea party and the working class. I will cast a vote for someone whom I  believe would be a good President,  but won't get the chance. On the plus side, even Trump should be a better option than a crooked liar or old, white socialist.

I'm certainly puzzled by lack of response by the left.  We're brainstorming here (me with what little brain I have left lol) and I have a couple of more ideas, but only things y'all already know.  But while pondering this, another question came to mind.  There's a book, Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus.  So, what planet, Galaxy, are ultra liberals from?
Joking aside, after being married close to 50 years, I can truthfully say that I understand women more than I do ultra liberals.

If Cruz or Rubio win the nomination I will happily skip down to the polls to cast my vote. For all others, especially Trump, I'll drag myself to the polls not to cast a vote for them, but to cast a vote against the Dem nominee.

Right, especially this one! Any college preseason polls will have the usual teams. Notre Dame, USC, Michigan and Ohio State, Bama and FSU will ALWAYS be there (with or without merit). Surprised to see Baylor in there so high, but then again, it is a pre-preseason useless poll. Only idiots like us pay any attention,  but at least we recognize it for what it is. It's gonna be a long wait for the next Gameday....
