  1. I'm not completely sold on Goff, although he might be the best college QB out there. Meanwhile, the Houston Browns continue to flounder...
  2. Miles will run the wheels off the Fournette wagon, because it's his best chance to win. Putting up gaudy numbers every week makes him the Heisman favorite too.
  3. Mallet will suffice for now. The bigger holes are the defensive secondary and running back. Didn't see the game this weekend, but I don't believe Winston was sacked. Where is the pass rush?
  4. Not sad to see bawlin' Boehner go. Wait and see who they replace him with. I have no confidence in the Republican party leadership.
  5. Cowboys are Houston North. No QB, No RB, and one superman on the defense.
  6. Wow! I somehow missed Elston's passing. I've been bummed all day about Milo. "Holy Toledo, what a play!" RIP Milo.
  7. Mac, I had planned on going to this game, but tickets were selling for around $300 and up in the upper deck. I will be watching from my recliner and I hope the scalpers take a bath on these tickets. I like the idea of neutral site games, but am not going to pay lots of money for tickets. I love college football, but don't have the means to run with the big dogs.
  8. I disagree dove, I don't believe anyone is minimizing her as an individual. I just don't see why you would put her on a pedestal or name a street after her. She made some poor decisions that landed her in jail and she took her own life.
  9. I don't know how many of y'all watch Hard Knocks on HBO. I've really enjoyed the series covering the Texans. I had only watched a previous episode, the Falcons, I think, and was bored by the show. I believe I'd watch anything that has JJ Watt in it though... I've like O'Brien better than Capers or Kubiak, but after watching HBO, I like him more. He does have a potty mouth, but I kinda do too, so I don't hold that against him. Are any other Texan fans watching, or am I lone wolf here?
  10. We celebrate Columbus Day because he hung himself in jail? New tobie, you can do better than that.
  11. C'mon Wildcats! The Texans almost made the playoffs with Fitz QB'ing. I think O'Brien can do well with what he has. I still advise you against betting MBG. I ought to go ahead and buy Buddy a burger. That's how I've started the last couple of seasons. At least I can have a burger too instead of crow...
  12. I believe sportswriters would put USC, Ohio State and Notre Dame in the top 25 even if they couldn't field a team. At least Ohio State is deserving of their ranking.
  13. I think this is misguided at best. A street should be named after someone that made a positive contribution. There is nothing positive about the Sandra Bland death. She was not a martyr. She hung herself. I don't understand why they want to do this.
  14. C'mon Dove! Maybe I misremember as the Democrats say, but "your people" wouldn't let him join the Congressional Black Caucus (a racist organization NOT listed by the SPLC), because he was a Republican. I like J.C. Watts, and he may be the best congressman ever to run the triple option!
  15. I'm looking forward to Saturday night and catching the first 1/2 hour of the UT-Note Dame game before switching and split screening the Bama-Wisconsin game. It's been too long!
  16. Exactly right! Both better than Fitz. If Hoyer falters, Mallet gets his chance. I'm more worried about running backs than quarterbacks!
  17. Some thoughts from an old guy: I've been a fan of Art Briles since I saw his Stephenville team beat PNG in the Astrodome. I read his biography and admired him as a coach and a person. This certainly clouds that admiration, though, I haven't heard Briles side of the story. I do have mixed feelings here... Football is a violent sport played by violent men. Some can turn it on when on the field, and turn it off when not. I think of examples like Howie Long and Michael Strahan. Others may not be able to turn it off. While their barbaric actions work well on a football field, they are criminal in a civilized society. Then there is the money thing. It is phenomenal how much a small, private Baptist college in Waco Texas has changed over the last decade. The campus is much improved and McLane Stadium is out of this world! Baylor is a serious contender for a National Championship this year! Have Art Briles and others sold their integrity to build this? How can Baylor, TCU, Boise State or anyone not in a powerhouse program recruit or compete with the powerhouse programs ? As fans that funnel money into this; are we partly to blame? Rape and sexual assault are vicious crimes and cannot be tolerated. A hard line must be drawn here, and I think for the most part, it has been. It gets fuzzy when we start getting close to that line. For Art Briles and others to succeed, they have to take players who are top program talent, yet aren't in top programs. I guess I have more questions than answers. I love football, especially on Fridays and Saturdays. I still want to pull for Baylor and other underdogs. When the 2nd chance player turns thing around, it is a feel good story we all like. When the 2nd chance player is convicted of rape and assault and only gets 180 days in jail, it feels dirty and disgusting. I'm not sure where I'm going with this and I'm not sure I will like the outcome. As a Christian and good citizen, I have to examine this some more.
  18. Trump has already said enough stupid stuff that would bury other candidates. Think about his remarks on McCain, immigration, Megan Kelly, etc. What will it take to totally derail Donald Trump?
  19. Trump is not a conservative. He's been a liberal Democrat most of his life and he has given the most money to liberal democrats. He is certainly not above buying influence with the right wing, and has done so. As recently as the debates, he spoke in favor of socialized medicine and trumpeted how well it works in Canada. Donald Trump is a fresh voice to the ticked off, angry citizens. While I like the fact he is making the rest of the Republicans take a stand about the noise he is making, I can't get excited about him as a candidate. Remember that one poll had Deez Nuts with 9% support. Don't get excited about Trump, but enjoy the sideshow while it lasts.
  20. Smitty, you often bring up "low information voters". Don't you think that anyone voting for Trump would fit into this category?
  21. I understand, but by the 3rd quarter, I'd had my fill of Collingsworth. I've had my fill of the Steelers too! Stefan Diggs looks like he might make some noise this year.
