  1. Maybe I'm old school, but I love it when an OL make a hole big enough for a truck to drive through. Conversly, when a DL plugs the holes and stops the play at the line, well, that is real football. What happens in the trenches is where the football game is at! Trying to express my thoughts on this matter is making me sound like John Madden. TVC is right though: this aspect of the game won't make the newscast.
  2. Ya know, it is way early for this, but here is how I see it going down. Nederland or Vidor will win district. PNG may be the sleeper or dark horse if Lumberton falters. Central & Livingston will be mid pack and will mess up somebodys season. LCM will be much improved simply by coaching, but will not get it done this year. Ozen will be much like last years team. No guarantees, just my cheap opinion.
  3. Nothing good can come out of this. This turd "Quanell X" cannot bring anything positive to this situation, and he certainly cannot help the LaDay family. All he can do is make a bad situation worse.
  4. Good article. I remember hearing about Bean when I was a kid growing up. Glad to hear he is being honored.
  5. Y'all Are right! I had forgot about all the stuff he did during the aftermath of Ike. I live in Mid-County now, so I didn't pay attention like I should have. Also, the KOGT website is the best I've ever seen for serving a community. Mr Stelly deserves all the praise that can be heaped upon him. He does call a better game than any of his local peers, including the old guys Skipper mentioned.
  6. 1. Possible. Drayton McLane is a LOT better than John McMullen, but he still is a cheapskate. 2. Nope. They are gonna keep shopping the bargain basement for players and if a bargain player does well, they will not resign him for his worth (Ask Randy Wolf) 3. Check out the House of Blues Sunday Brunch at Minute Maid. I haven't been, but it looks good I too, am a long suffering Astros fan. I used to go to the 'Dome 6-7 time a season, but haven't been since theymoved to the Juice Box. Why? I used to take my nephew and sit in the outfield and holler at Jose Cruz. My seat was $4 and the kids were $1. Now the oufield seats are "Crawford boxes" and are about 40 bucks a seat. I can't afford to do this anymore.
  7. Man, It just doesn't seem that long ago when the BBRC (Big Boy Richard Corder) was doing the sports broadcasts on KOGT. I guess I'm showing my age. Congrats to Gary. He is a fine broadcaster , gentleman, and an asset to S.E. Texas.
  8. The worst trade had to be losing Morgan, but the Caminiti/Finley trade is right there too. Not a trade, but biggest blunder was letting Ryan go. I still miss Nolan Ryan!
  9. Indian Ken was a wonderful man who adored the band kids. He would travel to all band competitions to watch them perform and cheer them all. He loved all the kids and genuinely gave his time to them, just to see them do well. This year the band gave him a plaque commemorating his support of the band for the past 25 years. It was done in the stands and he was so touched and proud. They say it takes a village to raise a kid and even though his own were grown and out of school he stayed on for our kids. It takes a special person to do that and he will be missed!
  10. Indian Ken was a wonderful man and will be missed by the students and fans. May God bless him and his family.
  11. If it weren't for all the PNG haters, these boards would be slow & dull. Merry Christmas y'all!
  12. I voted all of the above also. I believe that it isn't a lack of talent, but not developing or using that talent. My .02
  13. I gotta weigh in on this one. PNG lists 66 kids on their roster. 41 of them are seniors. WOS only has 28 kids on their roster. They are the #1 team in state in 3A. Whats the difference? Coaching. Matt is a great guy, but he is not getting much out of his team. PNG has some great atheletes and they play with a lot of heart, but they are getting beat by teams with less talent.
