Olddog reacted to Hagar in Ozen at Vidor (Homecoming) predictions
Great descriptive post of what should turn out to be a great game.

Offense isn't the problem, we can't stop anyone. Hoping the kids understand they have to maintain their defensive assignment. Must be very disciplined, something Ozen really has to work on. There will be limited possessions due to the Ball controlled offense Vidor has, but I think we will be fine as long as we can continue to score & hopefully win the turnover battle.
TO's will be the Factor. JMO

Olddog got a reaction from BMTSoulja1 in Png vs Lumberton
I thought y'all all kn
So if big if ! The team is actually thinking like the PNG fans on here -- then this is a big trap game ! Reality is ; as it should be ; actual players are probably approaching the game as an underdog !!!!!! PNG defense still unknown -only real test was a bust . Central D seen some real horses . Although Indians did do a good job on Goose ! We will see won't we . I rate this a toss up but PNG has executed really well last few games . Few mistakes /giveaways / penalties !

Better offense? Yes. There's a lot of team's offenses that are better than Central's. Defense? No. They are big and strong up front... Fast, athletic, and hit hard and make good tackles. The only problem is that sometimes, our offense hangs us out to dry sometimes. If we sustain drives, our defense. Continue to flex its muscles.

Speaking of speed one of those long Lebaron spirals to Perkins is an instant game changer .
In any given year you are fortunate if your team has a back like any of these at Ned. /Central/ Ozen / Lumberton . I would take any one of them . I enjoy watching all of them , just enjoy more when they are not playing us . Doesn't really matter who's fastest , they all have a blend of speed , moves and power that can take it to the house on any play . That said , there actually are a bunch more at PNG/ Vidor/ GC/Lee in fact everyone has at least one really good running back this year .

Dont know who's faster, Whaley or Krautz...What I do know is..... Larry's sharper than Toby. Dogs take this one at home.

But it's not about whaley and krautz anyways,, it's a team sport,, without a line or other players neither could do anything..

Olddog reacted to _chorizo11 in Beaumont Central @ Nederland Predictions
I don't care about on the track,, my opinion is from watching both,, krautz looked faster to me ,, whaley couldn't out run lumberton and krautz has out ran every team they played,,, guess lumberton is just that fast and crosby, dayton, ozen is just slow,, not knocking whaley in anyway or pumping up krautz,, just stating an opinion..

Yes, but Cats are also way to independent. Can't train a cat to do much of anything except pee in a box. Dogs are much more obedient and trainable.

"legitimate"
So, I guess we all agree penalties had no influence on the game since Lumberton had 1 more than Ozen and 5 more yards.
Like I said, if you let penalties decide a game, you should have practiced more.....

Olddog reacted to Red Dawn in Best Defense in SETX so far this season?
I basically just watch Crosby and whoever their opponent is, so I don't feel like I can comment on all of SETX, but it appears to me that Crosby is the best Defense (and Offense) in 21-5a.
It's hard to just look at defensive statistics on this one. Lot's of difference in the stats of a defense whose offense runs a low scoring, ball control, eat up the clock offense vs. a defense whose offense plays wide open, scores fast and puts pressure on the opposing offense to score.
Everyone knows what Crosby's offense brings to the table and they know they have to score to keep up. Hence, Crosby's defensive statistics even that more impressive.

Turnovers killed GCM. Let one get away.

Olddog reacted to Alpha Wolf in 22-5A playoff picture as of now
Besides PN-G, I realistically think it's way too early. 6 games to be played. As long as you don't loose to Lee, you still have a chance. My Jaguars should be able to claim a spot as long as Whaley stays healthy and the coaches continue to open the playbook. GC-M I feel will battle for a spot, just had too many turnovers last night. Ozen is still in it because maybe Lumberton is for real. We will see how Lumberton does when they play a team with more depth than the previous 4 they have played. Vidor is a threat just because of the style of offense. And Nederland, we'll they are just Nederland.

Great game Pirates . Teams couldn't be more even . We both need a little D . Awesome offenses . Good luck the rest of the way . I don't think 1 or 2 losses mean anything this year for playoffs ! District is very even .

Olddog reacted to Gasilla in WOS (4-0) vs Richmond Foster (3-1)
I'm already sensing something that needs to be addressed right now. You play 11 at a time. Period. We should have won that game last yr and were one play away from winning it. There are no moral victories. If we do lose then we lose and we need to take like any other loss we've ever had. Learn from it anD get better. Last year I felt like we got satisfied with a close loss and I feel like it's what got us beat against Newton. So, again, they can't put those 3000 kids on the field. Only 11, we need to go into this game expecting to win just like we did against Silsbee.
