1. I think most people knew that WO-S's defense could not carry the team in this game because Navasota was going to get its points. The offense had to score and let the defense slow Navasota down a little. Well, the offense hasn't scored. So, there you go.
 2. I love the way Newton simply lines up and plays good, solid, fundamental football.
 3.
Maybe I'm the only one, but I don't really care about being the best team, I care about being the winning team....
Agreed. The team with the better athletes doesn't always win - maybe that's really what he was referring to (???). It's the team with the better game play, best conditioning, and the most heart. Obviously, that was Nederland and that's what truly makes the "better team". I'm sure you can all remember losing to a team where you were thinking afterwards how it happened because on paper, "you were the better team".
 4. WO-S's defense won't shut-out Navasota's offense. But, they will limit it to less points than what they are accustomed to. If WO-S's offense can score 24 points, then WO-S wins.
 5. Why do people on here get SO excited about another team losing? They seem happier when another team loses than their team advancing.

Silsbee will loose next round.. Carthage will win...
Every team listed has a better chance than WOS. WOS will have to play Navasota.
Navasota has played a good schedule this season - they have not, however, played a defense like that of WO-S.  You may be right that Navasota will win, but don't be so smug until it happens. 8)
WO-S's defense is REALLY good - good enough to slow down Navasota's offense. But, I think Navasota will score more points than any team has against WO-S (not that many more though, somewhere between 17 - 24). This means that WO-S's offense will HAVE to score. I don't think they'll be able to rely on a shut-out game by WO-S's defense. Navasota's defense is REALLY good, also. On a scale of 1 - 10, Navasota's defense is a 9 and WO-S's is a 9.9. I think if WO-S's offense can score at least 24 points, they win because I think the defense can limit Navasota to at least that many.
 7.
TD Mart! 62-15 anybody wanna bet Mart beats SA by 30+ next week?
I wanna bite. But it seems like SA has a way of staying close or even winning these types of games in the past. When they are bad, they are really bad. When they are good, they usually go pretty deep in the playoffs. I still think Mart wins. But, not willing to wager SA will lose by 30+, just yet.
 8. Carthage is good. But, they are not at the same strength as those championship teams. They have good coaching that finds a way to turn it up a few notches in the playoffs. I believe Silsbee's offense is stronger than Carthage's defense. If Silsbee's defensive secondary slows down Carthage's passing game (they can't completely shut it down and don't need to as long as the Silsbee offense does its job) AND limits Carthage's big runs, then Silsbee wins.
 9. Is Danny Lauve still the head coach at Elgin? When he left Jasper, I think that's where he went.
 10.
I like how West Sabine is driving on Mart....for someone from San Augustine you are loving this!
Don't gloat too much - you still gotta play next week. Karma can be a ... well, you know what they say.
 11.
This nav team is better than the gilmer team that beat us for the title.
How do you think they match-up w/ WO-S?
 12.
Carthage and Silsbee has agreed to play next Friday night, Nov. 30 at 7:30pm at Abe Martin Stadium in Lufkin.
I know a separate thread will be made for this game. But, I'll say it now - Silsbee in the upset.
 13. Our defense had to step up for us to have a chance in this game. I knew they'd burn our secondary and their defense would stop our run. No way we can win chasing points with Navasota.
 14. I didn't see where this has been posted. If so, my apologies. [Hidden Content]
 15. One and done - been there and done that way too many times. I go through the 5 stages of grief. 1) Denial :o - The game can't be over. There has to be a flag on the last play. Why are players headed to the locker room? 2) Anger  >:( - I'm going to put the referee's tires on flat. The coach better be fired. And, they better not let the kid that dropped that touchdown pass back on the bus. 3) Bargaining  ::) - God, please let this be a dream so that we can have a do over. If you do this one thing this year, then we'll give up the playoffs next year. 4) Depression  :'( - This team sucks. My life sucks. I have no appetite the rest of the weekend. 5) Acceptance  :) - There are other teams that never make the playoffs. We'll be back next year. Then, pick a second team to follow. But, you can help but wish it was your #1 team that you were sitting there cheering for, which starts the grief cycle all over again until the season ends and the playoffs are over.
 16.

Our defense has really improved this year. But, our weakness is still in the secondary. So, Navasota will be successful if we are unable to get pressure on the quarterback. On the offensive side, Navasota can stop our offense if they can stop the run. Our passing game is average and totally feeds off our ability to run. We'll have to play a near perfect game. My prediction is a Navasota win via blow-out OR a very close Jasper win. Go Dogs!
Good analysis. More often than not, athleticism and size win games in high school. If Jasper is going to win, it will be because of coaching and execution. It's gotta show up early, too. We're not built for comebacks.
Yep, Jasper vs. Burnet in 2002 comes to mind. Jasper was the overwhelming favorite because we were hands down more athletic and had D-1 level size all over the field. But, we were totally out-coached and out-executed in that game early on. By time we caught on, Burnet was up 21 points and we never recovered. That has to be the most heartbreaking loss in Jasper history - we were the favorite to face Everman in state that year after dropping down from 4A.
Yes, time is 6 pm. I've corrected in my original post.

 20.
Colmesneil Vs. Bosqueville Friday, Nov. 16, 7:30pm Crockett HS
I thought Jasper was playing Groesbeck Friday in Crockett?
 21. Yes, this will be a tough game for Jasper. It will be the 3rd test of the season - we failed the first 2 (WO-S and Carthage). If we don't beat Center soundly, I don't look for us to go far in the playoffs. We'll be one (maybe two) and done. Whomever wins can get some momentum going forward.
 22. We gotta get pass the 1st round - Fairfield or Groesbeck up first.
 23. I think WO-S and Navasota are the best in Region 3, Division 2. Would they play each other before the Region 3, Division 2 final?
 24. Yes - see Jasper post Walkoviak. A bad coach with good talent can have a mediocre team. Conversely, a good coach that knows how to utilize mediocre talent can win most games.
