2. I'm picking against the home team on this one. And, I don't think a 3-7 team should be in the playoffs, anyway. Thanks to a 5-team district and 3 teams making it in, it's laughable that having a losing district record can put a team in the playoffs.

In terms of the topic at hand, there have been several threads on this subject. I'm too lazy to find them all to post in this thread. But, if you go back the last 4 weeks or so, you should be able to find them.
Looks like you didn't get picks in this week.
Could you double check mine, too? I did play...I think... :-\
 8. Regardless of the number of points scored, I agree that while it was good to get win #2, I don't believe this is any indication that Jasper has turned a corner. We'll see where we're at for the season next week.
 9.
seeing how jasper starts game they do great but then it is gone  ??? do u think they will be able to pull out a win here
I don't know...I'm seriously thinking about picking Huntington. But, will likely go with the hometown.
 10.
I don't often post because too many times I see people foaming at the mouth, pointing their finger at someone or something for their perceived problem (a microcosm of societal ills). Jasper had an 8-3 record last year with quality wins over State Finalist Kirbyville, WOS and Silsbee to name a few. This season, much like the late 90s and the '06 and '08 teams, the squad is struggling, yet they are commanded by the same person as last year. It's the coaches, it's the scheme, it's the wrong positioning, it's the offense, it's the defense, it's the refs........it's the everything-else-but-me syndrome. Jimmy Johnson takes over for Dallas and goes 1-15, then 7-9 before he ever wins a super bowl. Barry Switzer comes in and wins a super bowl too and has a better overall winning percentage at Dallas than Johnson. Why? Johnson goes on to Miami and wins 56% of his games in four years and no super bowls. What happened? Please enlighten me.
I don't post that often for the same reason. My two cents...Tom Landry and Tex Schramm had an established program. Even though Jimmy had some rebuilding to do, I don't think the job was as monumental because Tom was successful for so long. Once Jimmy got it going again, it was easier for Barry to continue what Tom and Jimmy had established before him. Obviously, the Cowboys haven't had the same amount of success since then. I won't comment on Miami because I don't know enough about their history. Those are just my thoughts FWIW.
 11. Good coaching can turn what would be a sub-.500 team into a .500 team and a .500 team into a winning team, and so on... I think Dan Hooks at WO-S is a prime example. Also, look at all the years Kirbyville lost. They all of a sudden didn't get a talent infusion. The talent was developed through a program, which comes from good coaching. And with good coaching, you must have stability. Again, Alvarez and especially Hooks are good coaches who have been around long enough to build a stable program at their respective schools. You can't have one without the other and expect to have a winning tradition. Jasper hasn't had a good coach willing to commit to the program long term since Walkoviak.

Jasper had no decision on Brooks, he decided to get out of coaching.
im talking bout when he left to go to CUJO. should have paid up those $$$... JMO
Actually, it was Ozen that countered Jasper's counter-offer to get Brooks from Jasper after only 2 years. He went to CUJO AFTER Ozen.

 16.
the dogs cannot win by reading their press clippings.  from the way it looks right now, jasper will do good if they can somehow squeeze into the third spot......  if they needed a wake up call, (and they shouldn't need it), this is it!!!!
Jasper misses the playoffs this year and if things continue the way they are, they won't make it for years to come.
 17. Youth has nothing to do with the kind of drubbing that Jasper is receiving.
I have not seen this year's version of Jasper (only heard), but they cannot be as bad as the Jasper team in '06. That year, Silsbee defeated them 35-0 in just over 2 quarters. A very bad storm blew in with about 8 minutes left in the 3rd quarter, teams waited for 15 minutes and then Jasper's coach decided to just end it. I have said it many times, that was by far the worst Jasper team I had ever seen and I have seen many of them over the years.
Please don't remind us...I think we won 2 games that year. After the 1st 2 games, I am predicting us to win 2 - 4 games this year. Although I never believe it should be a sole excuse, there are a lot of younguns and they will get better.
