I'm not going to speculate on the reasons the game was cancelled. I'm sure both coaches had valid points that we are currently not privy to. HOWEVER, I absolutely LOVE the idea of playing Dayton. Remember, Jasper used to be in the district with Dayton and we could renew an old rivalry. The reason to play a tough pre-season is to get the kids AND coaches prepared for district and hopefully the playoffs. The only risk you run is the team losing confidence. But, I don't see Coach Brooks letting that happen. Bring it on...!

Looks like no one who was in the mandatory evacuation counties has cancelled. Why couldn't they just move the game to Saturday? Since it looks like the area may not get hit as hard as previously expected, I wonder if there is any chance the game could be back on again.

These are totally different from anything I've seen - at least for 3A.

It'll be interesting to see how many people from Jasper are able to make this trip. At least it's on a Thursday (as opposed to another day in the middle of the week) and there is a long weekend to recover. The kids will be fine. I remember functioning on 2 hours of sleep in high school. But, the adults on the other hand... ???

I agree. Why are we talking about this game now? Anyway, in the overall scheme of things, Kirbyville should be low on the priority list this year - they will not determine the outcome of district and there's no way we could play them in a playoff game. Anyway, 2A Kirbyville gets more bragging rights if they beat 3A Jasper. Finally, Jasper is not a one-man show this year.
