Per the Victoria Advocate and Texas HS Football: Kris Micheaux is a Baylor Bear (played linebacker). He was promoted from defensive coordinator to head coach/AD last year after the previous coach went to Gainesville. Micheaux began his coaching career as an assistant at West before becoming a graduate assistant at Middle Tennessee State. He was the running backs coach at Tyler Junior College for one season before coaching at Royse City for one season and serving as the defensive coordinator at Moody for a season. He coached at Katy Taylor for two seasons, the second as co-defensive coordinator.

The offense and special teams need the most help. So, if I'm looking at that alone, I'm saying Byrd and Bickham. However, I don't know Micheaux's background. Then, how can you go wrong w/ Johnston. Yes, Jasper needs a good leader. But, he still better produce a winner and we're kidding ourselves if we don't think that should be a factor.

I'm a little concerned that the new coach has basically lost the off-season to work with the team. The good thing is at least Brooks is still on board to carry an off-season program.

This is absolutely ridiculous and embarrassing. Do not post if you cannot form a sentence. And, don't make this a "black thing" - it's an "uneducated thing". I have heard plenty of people who are not black from rural areas and southwest Louisiana speak and write this way.

Brooks definitely resurrected the program when he came in 2000. The program had gone a few years without any playoff games if I remember correctly. I don't think the program was in as bad of shape when he took over the second time in 2007.

I think he was pulling your leg about Lauve. The job closes on Friday. So, maybe we'll hear about who applied next week.

If that happens, then good for him and Center.

If Johnston is the pick, then sounds like a good one. He'll probably help out a lot on the defensive side. But, Jasper looked more inept on the offensive side of the ball this past year in my opinion.

Walkoviak back? He's the only coach I can think of on the Newton staff...He didn't leave Jasper on the best of terms, but had solid teams even though they never could get pass the third or fourth playoff round in 4A. This would be an interesting pick though I wonder how close to retirement he is. I think he'd be a good interim pick. But, if Jasper is looking to build for the future, then I don't believe he is the one.

Prosper is north of Dallas, around the McKinney area.

No disrespect intended to all the other teams that Kirbyville will play in its run, but there were really only two roadblocks for Kirbyville to the state championship and one of them was eliminated last night. The other one will be Arp. I just don't see how this game will even be close.

Of course, everything points to a Navasota win. But, Silsbee showed great courage in coming back to win in the last 2 minutes. Maybe this can propel them to a great run? Taking momentum from the Huffman game, if Silsbee gets a couple of breaks, doesn't turnover the ball, and Navasota comes into the game cocky, Silsbee could take this one!

Can we add "Live vicariously through another team" to this list? If this is your choice, which team will be your stand-in?

I wonder if Chapel Hill will try to trick us by throwing on our secondary. Our defense has improved, though. We'll have to be clicking on all cylinders to win this one. But, Jasper can do it.
