1. I was referring to the weights for those that are fortunate enough to play at the next level...start your strength training after basketball season so you'll be ready by your freshman year of college
 2. Dallas Kimball will likely repeat....sorry Central peeps.  Beaumont always has athletes and thats how they win....  Kingwood Park will be tough, because they are so disciplined and very well coached unlike beaumont.  I would like to see them and Nederland square off
Zach is good but don't tell him I said it. :D
BOOM! Busted [s]2[/s] [s]days[/s] 3 days in a row!  ;D Zach is a good shooting guard, and he has shown improvements with his ability to get to the hole. He's played point guard mostly over the past 2 years  because he handles the ball better than anyone else on the team. He is going to do whatever is best for the team to win. I think he is more of a 2 guard, and that's where universities will need him to play if he gets an offer at the next level. His defense and foot work need improvement, but his outside shooting is what colleges will want him to do. I admitted on a previous thread that I don't know what it takes to play D1 basketball, so I don't know if Zach has 'it'. For now, I'm sure he is focused on the present and enjoying his senior season with his friends/teammates. I thought Kelvin Smith was good enough to play at the next level, but i think colleges saw him as a 'tweener'. I also thought Prudhomme would have received offers to bigger schools too. My point is that I really don't know what it takes to be a D1 or D1AA player.
The one thing that English really needs for the next level is STRENGTH,  Hit the weights son.
I agree sir. I don't know is weight, but he needs to put on 10-15 lbs of muscle to get serious looks. However, the way college coaches emphasize strength/weights, he could add that in one off season, easily.
Yes sir  they will definitely do that they did the same to me, but i had wished i had that weight strength already.  would ve gave me a better chance of moving up on the depth chart against the already returning sophs, juniors, seniors of the college team who already have been going through strength training. as a freshman try working out (like you never have before) for 2 hours and then go straight to the gym to shoot when your arms are like noodles, those sophs juniors seniors will already know about this.
 4. Kountze......  Central has another year before they make it.  Nederland though fundamentally sound i believe there best shot was last year and thats past.  I forsee Dallas Kimball winning it again...they only lost 3 seniors

 6. im an alumni of HF and i still attend alot of the sporting events there.  I came up when Tarver was the HEAD COACH and HEAD COACH HE WAS.  THere has been a culture change......and its due to most of the parents of these spoiled children.  PARENTS stop brown nosing with the coach, super, school board members, etc, etc.  Super, principal, school board members, parents......stay out of the coaches ear.  You hired the guy to do a job, he's gonna do the best he can with what he knows and has avaliable to him.  He didn't take the job to lose, he took the job to turn the program around and win.  all you parents think lil johnny is an all star......sorry but most of you are all wrong.....  your children are going to fail sometimes and get replaced sometimes.....let them.....its a life lesson.  in the real world you don't do your job you get fired and replaced or demoted.....its life....let it happen if you got beat out of a spot then you were good enough, so train harder and give more effort, be smarter and you can win your spot back. This stuff didn't happen near as much when Tarver was coaching....

 8. yes i ve seen hoop dreams
Kind of like spending 2000 on 22inch rims when your car is worth 600 dollars.
Exactly
 9. PAM must of forgot who graduated last year from their team.  And yes it makes a big difference when key position players graduate. not saying PAM is gonna lose, but i know its not going to be a blowout. I won't be surprised if a Central squeezed this one out
 10. not talking about NBA players, talking about High School Kids when i was in high school.  Whose parents live in goverment housing, food stamps,,,,live off the goverment cause they don't make enough, but yet some how can afford to pay for basketballs shoes that cost hundreds of dollars.... kinda like spending money on 22 inch rims, but not spending it on groceries priorities all out of wack
 11. i ve played in a pair of addidas, nikes, reeboks, etc for 40 to 60 bucks and out hooped most people who had on jordans, lebrons, kobes, etc. its a status thing, and its ridiculous.
Will any be able to make an "instant impact" for Nederland this year on varsity, thereby challenging the upperclassmen?
NO
 13. Wiesbrod will more likely play baseball at the next level.  Wiesbrod good kid good fundamental basketball player that i enjoy watching.  But as far as next level for basketball....maybe at a juco or a division 2 or 3. and i wish him all the luck in the next level. Some people on this site have an emotional attachment to a team and/or player.  YOu gotta see through that to make an accurate assessment of an athlete.
 14. EC's area of concern is LB on Defense I see a deep run, but they will need some things to go their way to make it to state. But overall, a very good football team.  I was fortunate to coach all those kids when they we re in junior High.  A great group of athletes and young men.
 15. Its not's EC defensive you have to worry about this year, its that All state running back.  Though their defense is good, their LB area is an area of concern.  I see EC winning this one

 19. wow is all i can say about coach of the year. I believe English should have gotten this.  Had less to work with, lost alot of seniors and no one expected them to do as good as they did.
 20. yeah....nederland had a good couple of years.... but central and ozen are about to be the two fighting for top spot some very good underclassmen coming up in both schools anybody know where Nigel from King is going.....im thinkin OZEN
