Brown played well down the stretch last year and Ebomwani looked like he could be a player defensively (don't think he well ever be much of an offensive threat) at the end of the season. We need a big in the mold of Thomas Fairley with this current group. Athletic big.

[/quote] In regards to the bolded quote above...I don't think talent evaluation has been an issue at WOS with the current regime! WOS has had more young men go on to earn more scholarships and many at the D1 level than any other school in this area. Most of those kids played and played well in college to. For one of the smaller schools it is quite impressive. So saying that the staff overlooks talent because of a stereotype is ridiculous. I would actually say it has been the other way around at WOS, they find the talent and help them to blossom.

Not sure how to take this. We need a big man, but I didn't get a good feel for Kyser. Didn't hear much about him this year at HCL and several had told me that he was just OK at Lancaster, that Lynch was the real get from that team. Anyone else have any insight?? I wonder how PK will approach this?? Will he go out and try and sign a HS big man that probably won't help much next year or will he go the JC route to get an immediate impact with the returning Seniors? Tuff call, but I would go the JC route as this team is built to win this year and needs a big to help do so. If they can win 20+ and get into the NCAA it will help to recruit next year with all of the open schollies PK will have.

Adras is the lone coach to not vote for UConn as the #1 team in the country after they won the Title this week. He voted Ohio State. Glad we didn't hire that moron!  ;D

I never understood this hatred of Tubbs(2). He was basically a stop gap after Deane. Year one was tuff, but he was coaching players recruited by Deane to play a slow half court game and we all know they were not conducive to Tubbs style. Years two and three when he got his type player in here LU went 18-11 and 17-14. Since Foster left almost 30 years ago now, those are 2 of the top 10 seasons in LU basketball. Tubbs second time around is the only LU coach since Abetamarco's 2 years that LU has had a coach with a winning record. Here's the really sad fact about LU BBall since 1984...ZERO seasons with single digit losses!!! 6 of 7 from 1978-1984.

[/quote] Remains to be seen, but there is a very, very, very long list of coaches that had success at the low major level, but couldn't win when given the chance at a high major! It's just rare that you see one who's first coaching gig is in a power six conference!  This might speak volumes about why you rarely see it. Prooves its best to hire someone who has cut there teeth as a HC at a Low/Mid over a Power 6 assistant with no HC experience. If Cross will be on staff, then it will make me happier about the hire. Knight probably won't be here more than 5 years win or lose so having Cross gain experience at a DI is a good move. I see big things for Cross down the road.

This is like saying that the SLC is as good as the SEC because Nicholls State beat LSU this year! The more proper statement would be that the top 10 or so DII teams in the nation would compete well with the bottom half of the SLC on an annual basis.

Cross hasn't been at any of the three schools for more than two seasons if I am correct??

LU has had 4 winning seasons (above .500) in the last 12 years, 2 of those were under Tubbs as HC! Tubbs record on return: 11-8 18-11 17-14 You folks realize that it has been 23 years since this program has had a 20 win season? Combine this with being in a bottom feeding basketball conference and you question why no big name applicants are on the list  ??? ::) It Is What It Is!

Based on this list, here is my best case. Don Skelton Head Coach Matt Cross top assistant with designs on becoming HC when Skelton moves on up!  ;)

[/quote] Lamar Sanders, Jay Nabors, Currye Todd...All hard workers who had they been a few inches taller would have been at a high major. All great character guys and team leaders as well as fan favorites because they recognized their roles in the LU community. All Skelton recruits from his NW Miss days. Been told by players that he ran that offense when he was here. Those were the only successful teams under the Roc regime. The guy breeds success wherever he goes.

If anyone thinks it will be any place other than Frisco, you are off your rocker! This conference should go back to higher seeds venue. It is ridiculous for any Low Major conference that is only getting one bid no matter what the records are to be having a conference tourney that doesn't benefit the teams that played the best over the 16 game schedule. Every other year this conference sends a 16 seed for the slaughter leaving a 14 or 15 seed that could have an upset out in the cold. What good does that do the SLC??

As far as Skelton goes, money talks! Staying in Beaumont for $50K as an assitant versus $150K as a D1 Head Coach are to totaly different animals.  I would guess Jones Community College is paying him between $50K and $75K. Also the fact is LU is a stepping stone school. I dont care who you are. Had Roc lit it up at LU he would have been gone the first time the chance to make $500K - $1 Mil per at a bigger program. And LU was his dream job.
