I predict 13,000 screaming idiots on Friday night at the Res...And I 'll be one of 'em! ;D (really went out on a limb there didn't I). Go Injuns!

Trocket, to Livingstons credit, that Lion run defense is way better than last year. That plus what you guys continue to do on offense with CC and the Bull, leads me to believe that you guys will win out going 10-0. However I still say you gotta be two dimmensional to beat the likes of Brenham, Manvel and Dawson!

PNG vs Nederland SOLD OUT
With all the new fire code laws, etc it will be tough to break the old records. They used to allow the parts of the track to be SRO but I haven't seen that in years.
I agree. They sell 13,000 seats. Thats it. No SRO. The only SRO will be outside the gates. -
PN-G's Nelson gives team big play threat at receiver
Kids a great player, but Nederland doesn't have to stop him in order to win...it has already been mentioned that he had a big game against Nederland last year...we all know what the final result there was...I think the strategy needs to be to control him, not give up the big plays and force someone else from png to beat you
Good assessment. He is just too good to try and stop. Kid is legit. Our offense is not our problem. We will score one way or the other. It's our run defense this year that we have to get a handle on. Our pass defense is night and day better than last year. Romero, Peveto, Hebert, Clark and Hollier have really improoved. -
only share tax dollars not contributions :D :D
We passed a bond to pay for the new and renovated schools and stadium becuase we understand the importance of giving the kids good facilities to learn, compete and grow up in. We understand that these kids are our future and if we want to keep them in school and on the right track for success you gotta invest in their future. So why can't they get the bond passed in Black and Gold country? Your kids need new schools.
How is that relevant to THIS game?

Interesting numbers, Nederland is 12-6 against PNG since Neuman took over.
But, but, but, Who has the better playoff record?

I'll give you the 11-5 record Neuman vs Burnett, but 1-1 against Faricloth so this is the rubber match. Neuman and staff did an outstanding job last year identifying a weekness in our Defense and exploiting. Can they do it again? Tune in for round 3!

Has WOS ever had a losing season record?
badndn replied to Paratrooper's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads

I think with the rich history of WOS they haven't ever had a losing season; however, not sure on that. Does anyone know?
That is correct, 1983 is the only losing season the Mustangs have had. And, much to your dismay, 2011 won't be the second.
I predict a 7-3 regular season. I don't see them loosing the rest of the way. Folks forget they lost to two good 4A programs on last second 2 point conversions and by 8 to a big strong Giddings team that is a 3A power year in and year out. No one they face the rest of the way will be as good. -
I think Neumann is around 90k but he was making a lot less before being considered at La Marque a few years ago. I don't know Faircloth's but I'm sure its higher. I think I remember Daytons coach over 100k.
Faircloth started at $82K on his original 2 year deal. He does not make near what Neuman makes yet. At the time of the LaMarque proposal he (Neuman) was at 90K and the LM job offer was at 103K from what I recall, so I would bet he is close to 100K if not right at it. Allman at Westlake got $125K to leave Permian (his alma mater)! I know all three BISD coaches make the same, in the 75K - 80K range. This could be a problem if Stump gets an offer he cant refuse, since a 20K raise would cost 60K to the BISD the way they scale. Not sure anyone would be real happy giving Washington and Nelson an extra 20K to keep Stump?

Oklahoma (WOS) receiver Trey Franks

Lets be clear here, Trey Franks crimes are not hurting anyone but himeself and are not CRIMINAL at all. He just needs to learn when to keep his mouth (or should I say thumbs) shut. -
Reno part of silent, effective line
badndn replied to WOSgrad's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Could do that in this district, but once they get into the playoffs most 5A teams in rd.2 and beyond all go 6'3"+ and 250+ accross the D Line and have stout LB's as well. Then again they also usually have 4.4 cover corners also! The O line at 4A Manvel this year 6'3" 320 lbs 6'3" 315 lbs (baby brother of the one above) 6'1" 250 lbs (the little guy) 6'2" 260 lbs 6'6" 290 lbs They also have a kid on the D line at 6'6" 280. Monsters! -

I went to the game, and 15,000 did not attend. I say it was in the 13,000's.
In my best Joker voice: "And HERE WE GO!" Back to reality. LU will never draw 20K average playing UIW and the likes or the majority of the SLC schools for that matter.
Shut up and play.
BINGO Someone close to him should take his phone from him, as this is the second time it and modern technology have gotten him in hot water!!! He may be back in two weeks, but the talent level at OU is so great that he will probably get burried now that he has gotten on Stoops bad side. -
Coach Crouch and his coaching staff have done a good job of turning the culture around where we expect to win. Now the big question is can we get over the hurdle and make it to the playoffs. Still too early to tell.
Agreed on all counts.

Jeff Matthews....best Athletic Director in 20-4A
badndn replied to robanadana's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Iv'e said it more than once in response to those so called Pirate fans that think the grass is greener, Mathews is great for that School. Vidor is no longer and has not been for a while the 20-4A punching bag and not just in football. Kids inVidor want to stay plugged into the Vidor sports scene which is allways a plus. -
The Armstead kid has an NFL linemens body now. Imagine what will happen when he gets into a weight training program at the DI level! I would be shocked if Green from Ozen doesn't play DI somewhere. Too much natural talent. I think there are more players this year from SETX getting DI looks than most seasons the past few years.

For clarification JT did not fail the sixth grade, he was taken out of school to be home schooled and upon re-entry to the school district the following year he was placed back into the sixth grade. He was just a child at that point and unfortunately for him got caught up in something he had no control over which has led to the issues today. Good Luck to the young man. Hopefully he puts his athletic talents to good use and gets that degree from Utah. The parents however??? Also hats off to Coach T for recognizing a snafu that had obviuosly been ignored in the past (date switching that is). Probably put several area coaches on notice with this one!!!

***SETXsports HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL RANKINGS - WEEK 1***
badndn replied to WOSgrad's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
With all do respect to a very good PAM team that should win that district and compete well in the playoffs, Dayton should be the top team in this poll especially if they beat what looks to be a pretty good Angleton team this week. 1a and 1b I could live with. Livingston will be good, but really who have they beaten going back to last season for them to rank above WB, Dayton and Coldspring, who all have prooven themselves week in and week out over the past couple of seasons. -
What does this mean for Nederland?
I don't care for any state ranking.....not that we even deserve one yet. I want an outright district championship for Neumann. No one deserves one more than he does.
Does he not already have one? -
How can you say its shady when the right thing was done, there was no cover up and he never stepped on the field this season?
It's shady...Maybe not on the part of the school as it appears Coach T made the right moves, but the shadyness lies with the parents and the young man. Anyone here with children not know their birthdate?
I can see the oversight and finding the problem out now. Surely he knows his age but maybe he didn't know the rules
Article says he told Coach T he was 18.

If you are a WOS fan and you can't admit that this is very shady, you need to take off those Blue and Silver shaded glasses! I love the statement that he is going to try and graduate early! EARLY??? WOS may not have known for sure, but this kid and his family knew! He also has some younger siblings in the district, bet they know their ages.
