  1. You never know. BC played LCM in a warm up game in '06 and BC's #1 (Angelle) threw the entire game. I know people keep playing this game down in this thread, but it will be very much a play-off atmosphere and BC would very much like to pull an upset. Even though they lost their game in '06 to LCM, it didn't slow them down any in the play-offs, they made a great run. I think it is a positive thing to have such a high profile warm up game, it prepares the kids for the "do or die" play off situations they will once again face next week. Good luck to both.
  2. Great post, kind of gives you a lump in your throat thinking about it that way. You are the example every fan and parent should try to set for kids that love the game of baseball. I know you don't want to think this far ahead, but keep smiling, one of these days, you'll get to watch the grandkids start the cycle all over again! ;D
  3. No. They were tied for third with Vidor, split with Vidor in district and lost the play-in game.
  4. PNG is first as of now, but if Vidor wins and PNG loses Friday night, because the two teams have split in district, they would have to play each other to see who gets first place/first round bye. If LCM wins against Vidor, they would have identical district records, but LCM would be in second place because they would have swept Vidor in district. Clear as mud! We all knew this district race would be close as far as who is in, I just don't remember the standings coming down to the final district game to determine who gets which place. Congrats to all three teams!
  5. Last home game for LCM, senior night and second place up for grabs, gotta go with the Bears.
  6. not to mention if Vidor loses, Nederland is out. I'm sure that has nothing to do with the new found love for Vidor by the Nederland crowd ;D
  7. Good grief. Take a valium and move on. Game is at noon tomorrow, not next week.
  8. They own a tarp. I don't think anyone anticipated the amount of rain that came through. Wonder how many other schools had theirs out?
  9. I don't think anyone has argued that this year. As a matter of fact, there have been entire threads on how our district is down this year (and the last few for that matter). Congratulations on the continued success of the BH baseball program, it is fun to win if memory serves, but keep in mind, there is more to being a winner than your record...acting like one on and off the field is a virtue you could stand to work on.
  10. Or maybe let some of the guys who have sat and watched, aching for a chance to make a difference, give it a shot. Then again, that is the selfish side of me talking. Griff will coach like he always does...to have a successful season, and post season, which is how a coach should coach To my Bears... Where has your inspiration gone? Did you beleive yourselves to be giants, and when you were knocked down, decide that it all was no longer worth it? A successful man, a winner, is not the one who never fails, but the one who, after failure, gets back up, and finds a reason to fight again. You, gentlemen, have been knocked down...it is here where you decide to get back up and fight again, or stay down and give up...your choice... Seniors... Lead! It is up to you to inspire this TEAM. You have the experience of having gone through all the difficulties and struggles of sophmore and JV, Show the others lead, even though they may not want to follow, you are the team's leaders, and that leadership is needed NOW! Your season can be the next three games, or the next three games, and a post season slot. YOU DECIDE! Bears... You are not Briseno, Garza, Gunn, Jones, Maldonado, Pousson, Richard, Richard, Viator, Barry, Brown, Cloeren, Derouen, Estes, Johnson, Leger, Thompson, Waddell, Landry, and Vaughn. When you put on that uniform, you are BEARS. As such, you play for the team, not for yoursleves. Sit down, find your sense of unity, and come out as a team, not as a bunch of guys who called each other to coordinate their clothes every Tuesday and Friday. If you feel you have no inspiration to play, let your coaches know...I think they would rather have a guy out there with a little less skill but a whole lot of wanna trying to win a game, than a hoss who could care less. YOU DECIDE! You know, it is said that one of the most dangerous animals is a wounded grizzly...it will fight to keep from getting hurt again or dying. The mascot you have is a proud one...live up to it. YOU DECIDE! Friday, a dangerous dog comes into YOUR HOUSE, Will it leave a pit bull, or a whipped chihuahua? YOU DECIDE! Friday, you will honor Victoria and Corbin. The greatest honor you can give them is to leave everything on the field every game from here on out. YOU DECIDE! Were the Bears a flash in the pan? Or are the Bears a force to be reckoned with the rest of the season and beyond? YOU DECIDE! Excellent post. Although Griff discourages the boys from actively participating on this site, I hope each and every one of them reads this. I hope the ones that want to play in the post season are our starters Friday night, regardless of if they have ever been starters before. Good luck, Bears, find the fight.
  11. Very big of you. As a parent, this is all I would have wanted someone to do for my son if he were the topic of so many of your posts. Congratulations PNG, great TEAM effort last night, best of luck the rest of the way. Don't know that you would have seen the "reversed" smack talk if the score were the other way around, as good of a season as LCM is having I have yet to see anyone notoriously talking smack that represents the Bears.
  12. A little humility would serve you well in life. If you aren't Harrington (which would be shocking), you aren't doing him any favors in the reputation department by posting tasteless remarks. We would all like to think that a player with that much talent would also be an all around great sport...an athlete that views his talent as a God given blessing, and a player that sets a positive example for his team, school and community. Why can't you believe that this is not the Harrington kid? I have told you on several occasions that it is not. I am sure you have figured out who I am so I am tell you again that he does not even get on this forum. Harrington is a good ballplayer and he is too focused on the season and taking care of his business and helping his team. I don't know who this skills person is but once again it is not Eric Harrington!!!!!! Great. If that is truly the case, as his mom, you might want to post a PM to his stalker/president of his fan club and let him know that he should lay off, as "skills" is making Harrington look bad in the sportsmanship department. I would certanly hope it isn't him, because as I have said before I think everyone in this district enjoys watching truly gifted athletes and will even pull for them (when they aren't facing their favorite team) to do well in his high school career and beyond. No one wants to think, "great pitcher, but a smart @** that is too full of himself". That is how skills is portraying Harrington. Just ask him to stop, or at the very least focus on his TEAM, rather than one player in particular, which as you can see by bleachercreatures synopsis, looks very suspicious.

  14. I applaud Creature as well. I am sure that he's not the only one that has noticed a pattern with "skills" posts all season long. I usually skip right over his posts without reading because they are-as a rule-full of smack talk and self/png/harrington promotion. Thanks again, Creature, wish I had that kind of time on my hands, it was like "skills" had his very own special segment on SETX sports...I'm guessing he's loving every minute of it ;D
  15. Quotes from skills123? He is someone's biggest fan! “if PN-G's defense holds up then they win†“Harrington too much to handle†“definately not the harrington kid†“verify what kid your talking about from png, Harrington or todd? replying to the comment on robicheaux being better than the kid from png? he might be as good as todd which is unlikely also but he is not near the level of Harrington†“Harrington-0.39 era†“I hope LC-M destroys vidor†“now would that have happened if Harrington was still in the game in the ninth, get real.....†“robicheaux is a good pitcher but Harrington is on another level when you talk about "best" pitcher in the district†“hey vidor.....hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahaha sweet life, good luck tuesday against lcm with no confidence lol†“i just wish that the vidorians would at least admit that we had a horrible play in left field which would have sealed the deal and with out that it would have been 3-1 game over, same thing with nederland it wouldnt have been a game if it wasnt for 6 errors..†“i know robicheaux personally and this is for you, great game, keep competing and playing hard and dont let your fans say hester won that game for yall cz you did†“harrington complete domination, going to step it up, but watch for robichoux, good little pitcher.....if i were vidor i would throw a lefty, my opinion, but if png plays defense they wont lose, guarantee†“Allen Harrington's Senior Year 14-2 0.25 ERA 144 k's 87 innings Hit over .350 9 HR's†Vidor is a solid team but Harrington is throwing the ball too well to be beat right now…the only way png loses this one is if the defense kills them again.. “if you think about it, nederland didnt have a prayer from the opening hitter. they had 2 hits in 5 innings off harrington, with no errors the indians win 7-2†“Harrington throwing with Todd behind him, best 1-2 punch in the area..goodluck hitting that the rest of the district†“HARRINGTON-5 HR†“eric harrington-png-5 including preseason also, 2 regular season†Wow. I almost hope it is the kid tooting his own horn or Harrington needs to get a restraining order...creepy.
  16. Why not just give the jags some credit. I think all teams would like to throw their best pitcher or pitchers all the time. Thats why its a 8 team race. The Jags came to play, that is for sure. If they play like they did last night through the rest of the season, I am certain they are going to pull off some upsets and shake up this district race even more. Good game, Jags, best of luck the rest of the way.
  17. Good point, both teams did have close games last time out. I think sometimes when teams that are currently leading the pack walk into a game against teams that haven't had as many wins, or close to as many wins, they don't bring with them that competitive edge and that is dangerous. I'm sure both LCM and PNG will bring their A game tonight. Should be a good one. Got to go with home team advantage, Bears by one.
  18. Why wouldn't he be? How else do you think a coach comes up with his game strategy All the little league coaches/dads know way more than high school coaches, just ask 'em! If those dads can't discuss game strategy face to face, what better way to tell a high school coach how to do his job than to post his opinion anonymously on a message board?
  19. Nederland is on a roll and Vidor is in a rut. The pirates need a shot in the arm of confidence and the dogs are hungry to be in the playoff race. I think it is anyone's game at this point and feel both are evenly matched talent-wise. Should be a fun one to watch. Best of luck to both.
  20. ??????????????????? I'm scratching my head on that one, too. They had not faced each other until last night, so how is anyone to judge which was the better team earlier in the season? 19-3 sounds like a pretty solid team at any point in their season to me.
  21. I agree completely with Midcountymadness. I watched the Nederland/LCM game Tuesday night and couldn't help but think back to the late 90's and early '00s and what intensity there was at those games. Practically every batter in the line up was a threat for both teams, strong pitching with an incredible bullpen to back it up. It used to be the norm for two teams in this district to meet back up in the play-offs, usually the regional finals. I know LCM met PNG and Nederland several times there during those years. 3A still has it with BC/Jasper and hopefully 4A will enjoy the same in the years to come, but I don't see it happening this year with any of the teams in our district. I'm sure this will result in 50 posts from Vidor fans, but I just don't see ANY team in this district going more than one or two rounds this year either. Doesn't mean I don't want it to happen or that I am any less of a fan of this district. Still lots more ball to play and room for improvement but that doesn't make a low to mid 80's pitcher a flamethrower. I, too hope to see a turnaround to the glory days when the Golden Triangle was known as a 4A baseball power house. Best of luck to all teams in the race.
  22. Is there a ten run rule or is LCM runnin the score up? As with all other schools in the state, the 10 run rule applies after 5 full innings. :
