That was not a safety. The BC player DID touch the ball, but he never possessed it (known as a muff because the ball went into the end zone by it's own impetus). The official should have blown a whistle as soon as the ball went into the end zone, just the same as if no one touched it.

Having attended the Championships for the past 3 years at JerryWorld, I have no problem playing there every year! Before attending, I advocated rotating the sites. Now that Houston gets a shot at hosting, I hope they put their best foot forward for sure. From a fan's point of view it is hard to beat Cowboy Stadium. Inexpensive hotels, manageable traffic, a very comfortable fan experience, and that HUGE videoscreen that is unmatched on the planet. I hope area fans who want Houston to be in the mix show up for the games regardless of who is playing. I was on the sidelines at AT&T when 56,000 folks watched Allen vs. Pearland in 2013. TIme for the Houston area to put up or shut up.

Random thoughts about this game......
Texas's split with A&M has only enhanced A&M. Texas needs this game far more than A&M. I don't have a dog in this fight as I am a Razorback like Buddy! A&M has always had an inferiority complex about UT. (Dang, their school song is about UT!!) Texas's athletic director's arrogance is what aggravated this situation. None of us saw A&M having some success in the SEC so quickly (...Manziel). All of this being said, I think a bowl game will be the only shot of getting these two together in the next 10 years. The State of Texas needs this game. I will just sit back and call my Hogs!!!

Good job, Mustangs!!!

Having been a member of the Texas High School Coaches Association for the past 35 years, I can say that in my experience that high school coaches have very little sway with most college coaches. Many college coaches fancy themselves superior to the high school guys. The exception might be with Junior Colleges and small programs where those coaches need help from where they can get it. I worked for a head coach that prided himself at "getting" scholarships for his players. I must admit he worked it very hard and was promoting any and all of his players. The truth of the matter was that his influence with college coaches was compromised because they learned/knew that he was blinded by his allegiance to his players and had the reputation of "fudging" with 40 times and other stats. What many good people fail to realize is that just because one is a "good" or "outstanding" high school player doesn't always translate to being a college player. High School coaches should know which players might be able to play at the next level. They should also know if any of their players really want to play in college.

I think they already have an idea of who they want for this position. It should be a familiar name in baseball circles.

Did u put it a good word for me, swampdude? I'm not a coach, but thru the years I correctly predict run vs pass plays for Vidor at about a 98% clip!

Of course! You haven't been interviewed yet??? Probably saving you for last!!

Word is that there have been multiple interviews this past week. They have successfully kept things really quiet. I am guessing that we wil hear something in the next few weeks.

I am with you, Buddy!!! Call those Hogs!!!!

Is A&M trying to channel their "inner Miami thug" persona?? I would hope that Aggies everywhere would call Sumlin and his staff out on this display of idiot behavior. I rarely pull for A&M but here I am trying and they pull this garbage. And while I am at it, who are these clowns calling the game for ESPN? Could they be more biased in their support for West Virginia??? (rant over)!

HJ big. H-F will hang for a while, then the dam will burst!

I literally do not have a dog in this fight, but I learned long ago to steer clear of wounded dogs! Nederland historically gets better as the season progresses. Anyone writing them off after week 3 does so at their peril.

HJ by as many as they want.
I agree. No disrespect to Kelly.

And Baseball

Two really dynamic offenses going at it last night. Both these teams need to eliminate mistakes and substantially tighten up their defenses. If they can do that, a good season lies ahead. H-F WILL BE IN THE PLAYOFFS. Good luck to both teams.
With 4 teams going to the playoffs in a 5 team district, odds are HF (and the other 4 teams) have an excellent chance of making the playoffs. I am not sure this is a case of two dynamic offenses rather than two very average defenses. Football season is back and there will be a lot of water under the bridge before we see how this shakes out! B)

I think HJ will take this one in the 4th quarter. Turnovers will tell the tale.

Most stadiums around here had no lights standing!! Saturday afternoon games. Weird season for sure.
