  1. I had the pleasure to meet Mr. Santo at a Skybox party at the Dome.  It was about an hour before the game with the Cubs and he came up to meet & greet for whichever corporation was hosting the party.  Myself and two other guys were the only ones who realized who he was.  He talked baseball with us for about 30 minutes and I really enjoyed talking with him.  Sorry to see he has passed on.

Bridge City 21 West Orange 20, I was a youngster but to give you a hint of the year, Steve Worster was BC's running back.
[/quote]  Dang Admin....... you must be old!!!!!!  ;D But wasn't the score 20-20 with BC advancing on penetrations? Correct me if I am wrong.  How many of these young whippersnappers know about penetrations to break ties??   ;)
  3. anothere factor is the number of coaches schools have.  I have seen when an opposing school calls and says they don't have enough for a 9th grade team or an 8th grade "B" team and then show up with 35 kids on a JV or 8th "A" team.  They sometimes don't want to spread the coaching staff and other times they are not wanting to play but one game.  It usually reflects the commitment to football of that school or community.
  4. Nope.  Matt has always been a sidewinder.  Heck of a linebacker too.  You could always see him with a sack of footballs over his shoulder anytime of year, heading for the football field.  So far he has kicked for the New York Giants, Buffalo Bills, Indianapolis Colts, Miami Dolphins, Tampa Bay Bucs, and now the Atlanta Falcons. Some of those stints were short as he filled in for an injured kicker.  He literally came within minutes of signing with the Dallas Cowboys when Tampa Bay threw a ton of money at him at the midnight deadline.
  5. For the record..... the officials were from the Houston Chapter at Vidor's request.  They were as horrible as the Vidor fans have described.  Mostly terrible "no calls" on both sides. Obviously, the Houston chapter didn't send their "A" team!  (insert your own disparaging comment here!) The Pirates are small and inexperienced but they will definately get after you and play hard to the end. They will continue to improve throughout the year.  Kudos to both teams for keeping their cool on the field with some "trying" circumstances inflicted by rogue zebras!
