I bet most of those passes are out around mid court as well. -

HJ running the spread offense? They sure aren't scoring much. -
I would hope any games would be on friday to keep the regular routine.
-
And that is if they don't lose to LaMarque friday and end up in a tie for 1st in district that they may have to play to break.
-
Looking at Ball's schedule they finish district next friday instead of tuesday like the Tiger's. Then their first playoff game has to be Monday or Tuesday, nso if this game happens it would have to be Saturday. 3 games in 4 or 5 games may not be their smartest start to the playoffs, but would be a great game for the Tigers.
Yes, Orangefield has played HJ close this year but the previous 30 years it has not been close. By the way I am from Orangefield. Orangefield has made strides but their little dribbler program is not even close to Hardin Jefferson's. Someone mentioned fundamentals? You are correct. Respect is earned not gained Wildcatter. Orangefield boys has a long way to go to catch up with the girls program. The best team Orangefield ever had did not make the playoff's Johnathan Livingston, Kirby Dorman, Austin Farris was a freshmen. You are talking about 6'6 and 6'5 and could play. They would make the palyoff's today easy.
OF has played HJ pretty tough the last few years, at least in OF.....

Cleveland vs. Coldspring Game Thread/Cleveland wins/Comments
Who do you think is better out of cleveland,hj and silsbee cooper.
The Tiger's have already proven themselves to be better than HJ. I don't know much about Cleveland with the exception of the 4 that have been playing together for the last few years(in HS). From what I have heard the Tigers could have the same advantage over Cleveland that they have over HJ depth. I have heard Cleveland and HJ are similar in that aspect. I think HJ has the advantage over Cleveland in coaches and mentally. Cleveland has suffered the HJ curse in the playoffs. -

**SILSBEE @ WOS Broadcast**/ SILSBEE WINS 73-46!!!

Hopefully the difference in this game and the first one wasn't just an emotional high from having Coach T back. This is more like I would expect between these two this season. I will have to see how the next two games compare to the first half of district before I can et a good comparison, but for those who doubted it now you can see how the Tigers perform with their leader back. -
Who wins in a Silsbee/Nederland matchup?

DC Stallworth would crush K Smith of Nederland.
I beg to differ BADSANTA. Silsbee 11-12 deep, really? That many play every game? Nederland plays 11 EVERY game. Kelvin Smith is named 'the smooth operator' for a reason. Ain't no crushin' gonna happen IF they face off.
I have been to the overwhelming majority of the Tigers games and yes that many play and usually perform in one way out another every game.m mI -
I think the Tigers answered that question!!!!!!!!
Great atmosphere for this one, depth was the key.The Tigers had fresh legs in the 4th and the Hawks were a half a step late. The double technical call was interesting to say the least. It had no bearing on the outcome as both clubs hit 1 of 2.I didn't think you shot a double tech.I thought it went to the possession arrow, somebody help me out on this one ??? ???
Never saw an answer as to whether or not these should have been shot. My thought was that a normal double tech involves an altercation between players. This was two seperate techs. Gaines for mouthing to officials and I was told Prudhommes was bumping and mouthing to another player. I don't know if this is correct or not. -

My guess is that he meant this: At each of these two games, people were turned away at both gyms not to mention how many decided not to go because they knew how difficult it would be to get in. He probably theorized that those who watched the girls could have easily been replaced with those who were either turned away or didnt go due to attendance conditions. I suppose that, additionally, you would need to consider potential additional concession stand revenues, etc. He probably believes that more total people are willing to attend one of two, four hour venues as opposed to a single 6 hour venue. He probably also believes that the referee costs are the same whether at one location or two. He could additionally believe that the TOTAL (both schools combined) cost of sending all of the teams from Silsbee to HJ is no greater than sending half of the teams from HJ to Silsbee and the other half from Silsbee to HJ over a home and home series.
That's a might big assumption of "what he may have meant". ;) Referees cost less.... no additional mileage. Add to that lights, janitorial staff, and all, and I think that he may have meant that its wonderful for the girls to get to play in front of people other than their parents.
While I know nothing of the costs of referees, I had concluded that the cost of each referee (per game) is the same regardless of how many referees are involved.( one ref doing four games would have the same total cost as four refs doing one game) If the referees give volume discounts, then I obviously was wrong. If they get mileage, its hard for me to believe that there is more than a slight difference between the travel costs to Silsbee as compared to Sour Lake. Also, I have PMd the originator of the post(of which we speak) to see if I have inadvertently misassumed) and will PM you his reply if I get one. Its 9:38 pm and he just responded telling me I interpreted his post properly
I don't know of volume discounts. But I often see two referee groups at a boys "night" - 1 set for freshman and JV and 1 set for Varsity. Now, I assume that neither of these groups handled the girls game ;), then that would make a 3rd set (and a 4th if the girls handle two groups like the boys... I don't know). How many groups were used last night? Also, the girls gym was dark last night - meaning no electricity, no janitorial overtime. One final thing - What about parents that have boys and girls playing. This gives them the chance to finally see both their kids play! .... maybe that's what he meant! :D
Wasn't there a freshman gamein the girls gym. so at least 1 more set of refs and some of that extra cost. -
Fantastic!!!! It will be great to see him back where he belongs!! Hopefully the weather will permit it to be friday night!!
Congrats Silsbee on the big win tonight in front of a packed house (and then some) at the Hawk Gym. Close game for 3 quarters and then the Tigers pulled away like last time. Team that played better won again tonight. Too many poor shots for the Hawks and too many offensive rebounds for the Tigers that turned into 2nd chance points!!!! Tough to see my Hawks lose, but you win some and you lose some!!!! Time to get refocused and prepare for OF on Friday night. Congrats again to the Tigers on the win tonight and on being the outright District 21-3A Champions this year!!!!
Oh if we take care of our business it will be two outright District Championships in a row!!!! -
I stand behind my confidence in the Hawks....I still say that we will win by 13 points....We will have an 8 point lead when the tigers will have to start fouling....and we will make 5 of 6 free throws to seal the deal, why is that so hard for some of you to understand.....I know, I know, how dare I think that the Hawks could win...Some of you kill me, I'm entitled to my opinion, and I just added take it to the bank because I feel confident in it.
At least you got the spread right........... :D ;D -

I saw Gaines mouth to the official and get called for his, but totally missed Prudhomme bumping a Tiger and getting whistled at the same time. Me and a fellow Tiger fan saw different T's at the same time. Didn't think they would shoot both either. -
