This game, because of the opponent, has a little something extra to it for a number of WO-S fans. We've had a history with Giddings. One of the worst (and most unecessary) losses EVER in WO-S program history came against Giddings during Earl Thomas' senior year. Some of the absolute worst offensive playcalling ever occurred that night and the better team lost. I still have a bad taste in my mouth from that game. Then there was the year we beat Giddings in another playoff game and their Head Coach at the time (Fitzhenry) refused to shake hands with Coach Hooks. Fitzhenry is long gone, but these two experiences make some of our fans want to beat the snot out of the Buffaloes. 

Babin is the best thing that's happened to us since Coach Credeur, and honestly imo the best thing that could have happened.
And that statement is coming from first hand experience of his coaching style, his attitude, and his passion for the kids and the game.
People who complain either don't know coach Babin, or little johnny got ran too hard and now their feelings are hurt....

Some didn't like the hire and that's ok. Some don't like that we are run-heavy and that's ok. Some don't like to work their tail off and that is NOT ok.   But it's all getting sorted out. Hard work is not for everyone. But neither is winning. 

Let me say this, Hardin deserves Larry Haynes. Lumberton will forever be better with Babin. I challenge anyone to show me a program that Larry Haynes has built.

I had an interesting conversation with a Raider fan about Coach Chris Babin recently where he expressed his dismay with him and was more impressed with Larry Haynes. Now, if you could see through my computer you would see my "REALLY" face. So Raider fans, let me tell you a little story. We hired a young coach and the very first year he was at Vidor, he took us to the playoffs. The second coming, we wanted to say. Sound familiar? However, after that initial year, it was 9 years before we made the playoffs again. We had some successful years but I believe the average over that span to be in the 3 - 7 range. A lot of people wanted his head. Now, most of us wouldn't trade Jeff Mathews for any coach in the area. You have a good, young coach who is from Lumberton and cares about the team. It takes time to build a program; years...especially if you have limited talent. We had the revolving coach thing centuries ago when I was in school. New coach every year = zero wins. IH 10 - Vidor / Lumberton 0. Stick with this coach and he'll get you there. It takes time, hard work and a little heartache. Mostly, it requires faith from the community because it is a community effort.  

I disagree in your first point about offending your target audience being an appropriate goal. I whole-heartedly agree with your second point about the disrespect sent out President's way. He's President Obama when I disagree with him, not any of the zillions of insulting nicknames people throw on him. The office deserves respect whether I agree with his opinions or not. 
Please understand that not everyone agrees with the opinion that this country is horrible place that is guilty of continually oppressing people of color. Just because you believe it doesn't make it true, and the fact that I don't feel the same as you on the subject doesn't make me wrong, either. 
The Bible tell us to remove the mote from our own eye before trying to remove the beam from my brother's. I young Mr Kapernick wanted to be taken seriously by the rest of Americans, he should be protesting about the thousands of young black men senselessly killed by other young black men, rather than wearing his "pigs wearing police hats" socks. I can get behind that kind of movement. 

I have told my kid the same thing.

Not standing, not putting your hand over your heart, and not removing your hat are all signs of disrespect! That's what people fail to realize. You will never earn respect by being disrespectful! NEVER!

From the outcome of the game, I could've swore that Crosby took a knee the whole game.  Lol
Seriously though, if any of my 3 boys took a knee during the anthem, there would be a scene with their dad coming out of the stands. Other people can do as they please, but my family will respect God, Country,Family.

It's disrespectful...PERIOD!!! If you support this type of behavior you are part of the problem too! If folks want to change things, they can start by teaching their kids to be respectful of adults and authority figures. It's about being responsible for your own actions and quit blaming others for your own personal issues.......The victim mentality is destroying our society.....

No, they're disrespectful, too.  Or ignorant, if nothing else.
 
 

Kept quiet but this entire topic is wearing me out!!!!!!! They have ZERO idea what they are even fighting for. Those kids sitting on a knee in that picture, SERIOUSLY ask them why they are not standing. Response My daddy told me to take a knee, I seen this dude on TV doing it. We gonna teach them,  my friends cousin dared me to do it. Give me a freaking break! I am fed up with the entire topic! Know your fight, yes you have rights, but dont call the police when things get hairy down in your neck of the woods when some dude kicks in your door, pops a cap in your a$%, then you want some protection. 

And unfortunately some don't even realize what they are doing. They do it because they see a NFL star doing it and view it as a new trend. Political correctness is out of control. 

Kids need to be guided by us Adults. They see an NFL player doing it so they follow. 

I agree with the coach. Yes he should respect the players decision not to stand. It is his right. But what so many people have not realized throughout all of this mess is that the Coach beliefs should also be respected. The same thing applies to the NFL and any other organized sport. Yes you have your right not to stand but the Coach, Commissioner, School, or Parent also have the right to say- Sit Your Ass on The Bench.
What happened to the days of- If I want your opinion, I will ask for it. Kids are to be seen not heard. Once you pay the bills then you can have an opinion. Society is in such a mess. Parents need to wake up and show the kids who the adults are. America deserves young men and women that respect God,the flag, elders and authority figures.

You're not obligated to tell anybody anything if you don't feel the need. There's no freedom of information act on what happens with your child. I'm in the exact same situation as you right now except my son has a couple more years to rectify his decision making. Congrats on the fresh start though.

BC will be fine. I would believe they will be playing for a district championship towards the end of district. 

I  truly believe too that BC will contend for the District crown.  And #28 for BC is a good hard runner.i hope and pray that all of this is behind everyone and we can talk football the rest of the year.im one person that will cheer for BC .setx to the end 

At minimum, the player or players involved should be suspended for this game.

Good, I  know everyone is not like that in BC. I just also know that children are much more likely to internalize the beliefs of family or close friends than just some random guy that they met spouting racial slurs. If your parents do not condone bigotry, then you are much more likely to not condone it either and vice versa, 

Any thoughts on how this game will turn out? I've seen both teams. Orangefield is big up front and know that Wing-T offense like the back of their hands. Woodville has speed all over the field, along with a huge offensive line, but this is the first year they've run the Double Wing, so I still expect some mistakes.

BTW...Thin Lizzy was one of the most under-appreciated classic rock bands ever. The "Jailbreak", "China Town", and "Renegade" albums are very good.
