Well the boys need some work, but it looks promising if they can get the kinks ironed out.
Totally agree with that. I did see a lot of improvement as each game was played, just wish we could get Farr healthy to help underneath. We jus have to have a lot more shooting from several people if not they will just continue to play box 1 against us like HF did. The coach even told us at the end of the game that was his only objective was to have a couple of fresh legs rotate every 2 minutes and take #2 out of the game. He told us at the end of the game he was coming into it with the mind set of playing a 4 on 4 game. #10 had a heck of a shooting game against EC and so did #15, which helped us tremendously. If we don't have several scoring then they will just un a box 1 and it will be a 4 on 4 game. Of course the talent we met up against in the tournament was exceptionally good and we held our own in several different areas. Just got to get away from so many fouls and play solid defense.

Holy crap the Rebs have to get it together
That sucks, cant do much when the other team is at the free throw line all night. It isn't football.

They are, talking to one of the guys I work with he said his nephew plays for them but lives in Riley. He said they recruited him last year because of his height. He is a home school kid that was going to Moss Bluff but once they started talking to him decided to be home schooled... LOL wish UIL would allow our coaches to recruit home schooled kids.... LOL
His other niece is now being home schooled and goes to SWLA to play softball. They have one state like the past 3 years and have a very dominate team he was telling me and travel all over the state to play.
-
Lost this one 67-41. SWLA had a 6'6" post and a 6'5" post Evadale couldn't stop underneath. You could tell this was first game because of some of the kids not being where they were supposed to be and a lot of the wanting to get the ball back in the hands of someone else. Rebels were extremely quick and were able to move the ball at times very well, but in many cases would force passes to one player and he might not be open. They will be fine during the season but going to have some tough bumps on the chin these next couple of days with HF and EC coming to town. Rebels only had one primary scorer who was scoring and only came out of game for 1 minute, but do feel a few of the others once they get the jitters out will start dropping shots and helping with the scoring. Evadale PG had half the points and 10 rebounds, should have had several assists but players were not containing pass when they got it underneath from him on wide open shots.
They will be fine..

Finally It's game day..... Love football but been like a kid waiting on Christmas morning to get the round ball started in Evadale....

Holyfield's niece?! I wonder what happened there? Holy crap!
She decided she didn’t want to play basketball this year she wanted to play travel volleyball, is what I heard. Unfortunately her and cole were the 2 main guards returning.

Who didn't play this year?
Cole and Patterozzi (Holyfield’s niece). Heard right before the season was to start they both said not playing and he had worked with them last year at PG to prepare for this year. That hurt the team and as a coach I’m sure it didn’t go over well considering he put a lot of developing time in to them last year.
-
I think Evadale had a couple of varsity returners from last year that chose not to play this year and it is really hurting them, since they were both used on the point position. Caught Coaches off guard when it happened and they are having to work to fill that hole that was left. The team is young and doesn't have a lot of experience at varsity level of play. But just like last year they improved every game and Hollyfield will always have them ready to play and prepared for district, its up to them to execute what he shows them.

Is Leggett that good this year? Thought WH was going to be decent, don't they have mostly seniors?
Their starting 5 from last year are all back and seniors this year.

Oh WOW. I hate stall ball but it is part of the game. If they wanted to come play as the coach said all they had to do was pull out on them. So instead you teach your kids to quit and walk off. I can promise if they play the Dale or EC there will be no stall ball even if we up by 30... LOL

Just noticed the Christian school coming to the tourney is the same one who walked out on Kirbyville the other night. Should be an easy win...just make a shot then hold the ball till the end of the game! 🤣🤣🤣
Oh really hadn’t heard about that.... Hopefully they stick around and just take it on the chin if that is the case.
