  1. Not sure what form he is getting into. Against Vidor he took crazy shots, blew his gasket a few times, and plowed over a Vidor player in what many would call targeting in football. Against OF, he practically beat up a chair, once again took some head scratching shots, and walked to the locker room before the end of the game. Saw a video of him laying out a player in the Nederland tournament in a non basketball play. All that doesn’t seem like someone who needs to get into any form on a high school basketball team. Really his behavior kind of mimics the coaches behavior in the sideline. Not a fan.
  2. I will say that seems a bit strange. Could really cost them in the long run. Just speculation, but could the starters not be doing what the coach is wanting them to do? Maybe they are listening to the parents in the bleachers rather than the coach. Many coaches would rather lose with kids who are willing to be coached than win with players that do what they want or what their parents want. As I said that is pure speculation.
  3. I am sure there will be a full breakdown of what could have been done better later today.
  4. Via Twitter: The Bobcats win a close one on the road over a good Lumberon team 50-48. Highlights: @paytonwrinkle 14 points 5 assists @koen_maddox 14 points @CamDischler 8 points 9 rebounds @Morgansampson24 4 points 11 rebounds The Bobcats move to 18-7 & 2-1 in district.
  5. Any good coach is going to use their bye game to scout other teams. They won't take anyone for granted. I would imagine that they will all be scouting possible playoff teams during the next bye game.
  6. Via Twitter: The Bobcats win over Bridge tonight 62-30. The bobcats move to 17-7 and 1-1 in district play. Highlights: @paytonwrinkle:15 points 7 assists 4 rebounds @Morgansampson24: 13 points 5 rebounds @peteragusa5: 9 points 3 assists @koen_maddox: 8 points 5 rebounds
  7. Keep in mind that Orangefield is dropping down to 3A for the next two years.
  8. I still think it is a toss up for 2nd thru 5th or 6th. I haven’t seen enough of Vidor to make a call on them. Seems like WOS is struggling the most between OF, LCM, Lumberton, and WOS. Seems like OF played well against some pretty good competition this week. LCM has some good wins as well. The next month will be interesting.
  9. Saw on Twitter that West Brook won this tournament. Any scores from any games?
  10. Via Twitter The Bobcats take home 3rd place after knocking off state ranked central heights 41-38. Highlights: @paytonwrinkle: 18 points 8 rebounds(all tournament team) @peteragusa: 10 points 5 rebounds (all tournament team)
  11. You cannot control what the officials are calling. You can control how you adjust your game to the officiating. Sounds like they called a lot of charges that cost the Tigers points. Jump stop and be under control.
  12. From Twitter: The Bobcats beat a very good Navasota team today 68-41. Highlights: @paytonwrinkle:20 points 9 rebounds 6 assists @peteragusa5: 18 points @CamDischler: 7 points 6 rebounds The bobcats will take on the winner of Waco Connally and MT. Plesant at 4:30 in the semi-finals.
  13. Since 86 kids were recognized, they should have just given a co-coach of the year so no one would have been disappointed. It seems that is what they do for the kids so no one gets their feelings hurt. 86 players? That is crazy.
  14. The coach the Mustangs had last year is an assistant at Hardin-Jefferson now. It appears the new coach this year is having some buy-in issues with some of the players.
  15. Oh come on. Whoever told you that should lose all credibility of knowing basketball. There is no one on their roster that is anywhere close to as good as Brock was last year. I am not taking anything anyway from any of those kids, but that was how good he was. Sometimes adding players who haven’t been around in a while can mess up chemistry also.
  16. Is the “star” player injured or the one who quit/kicked off and is being allowed back on?
  17. Might have stayed closer to 20 or lower if #1 doesn’t get hurt in the 1st qtr for OF. A loss is a loss though. Doesn’t matter if it is by 1 or 30. Learn and move on.
  18. Keys to OF even having any sort of shot at keeping it close are controlling the tempo, shooting the ball well, not giving up a lot of offensive boards, and limiting turnovers as much as possible. Turnovers are going to happen, but they can't lead to fast break points. Silsbee comes in waves and you have to be able to withstand the waves. That is easier said that done though.
  19. So some teams that there had been big debates around competed here, HF and Lumberton. I thought HF continued to prove themselves and now they are ranked in the TABC Top 25. Lumberton was like a roller coaster ride in this tournament. Same could be said for West Orange. Anybody have any insight to the up and down play of these two teams.
  20. His arm looked like it was in a sling against TT.
  21. I wouldn’t say they routinely beat HF. HF was winning by 2 going into the 4th. By looking at the score, HF probably had to foul at the end which made it a 12 point win. That takes nothing away from HJ today though. That is an impressive win. That district race is going to be tight from Huffman, HJ, and HF.
