  1. If you are picked to have the best team, and you have the best team, then why should you be coach of the year. Yes, if everything plays out in district and no teams surprise anyone, then the coach of the district champs should get it. If there are teams that do surpisingly better, then couldn't you say that coach might be deserving of the award. Personally, I think Williams from Silsbee should get it. He lost most of his team from last year and still was Co-district Champs. Bobcat05, did your coach when your team surprisingly made the playoffs in a much weaker district than this one get coach of the year. The answer is yes. He was co-coach of the year. Why? Because his team did something that other people in the area and district did not expect.
  2. Why in your opinion does Sutherland win coach of the yea Bobcat05?
  3. So who did HJ and Silsbee beat that they weren't supposed to beat? I think the reason that Coach Wrinkle is getting recognition for how competitive the bobcats were against those upper tier teams.
  4. I don't think it was the fact that Bobcat05 picked the HJ coach over the OF coach that upset oldtimer. It seemed to me like a slap in the face to the OF coach because Bobcat05 copied another statement that praised the OF coach and then he stated that he was from OF and would choose the HJ coach. Not that the HJ coach is a bad selection. I think every SE Texas school would love to have him direct their program. Do I think he would go to most SE Texas schools. NO, but he does a great job where he is.
  5. Keep in mind that Coldspring beat Navasota earlier this year.
  6. I am sure that BobcatO5 has his reasons for not thinking the OF coach should be coach of the year. That is his choice. Not everyone will agree with the things that coach's do and don't do. I have seen Bobcat05 question some things that the Bobcats don't do before. The OF coach must be doing something right, he made the playoffs and won his playoff game.
  7. You are right the Bobcats have got to feed the post early and often. Take what the Trojans give you though. If they are doubling the post don't force it to him. Be patient. I don't understand why the fact that Coldspring is athletic means the Bobcats can't win this game. They have almost beaten Silsbee twice, HJ once, beat WOS twice, and beat Jasper twice. Those seem like pretty athletic teams. Don't count the Bobcats out just because they aren't "athletic". In the text that some of you use that word it is racial, not physical. The Bobcats have athletes as well.
  8. I would count on him playing. He is a competitor. Playoff spot on the line. Hie will play. Bobcats better count on it.
  9. Didn't the HJ fans gripe on this website for over a week after the loss at Lufkin Hudson? Just wondering.
  10. Central is going to the Bear Cave. Anything is possible at the Bear Cave.
  11. Are we really going to keep talking about last time. Let it go. It doesn't matter who started it. It was a good game last night. No issues with the fans. Lots of questioning about the officials and the bobcat players aggressiveness. "the officials did not effect the outcome." Pretty sure they affected the outcome when they blew an out of bounds call on a rebound with under a minute to go. The bobcats had to foul instead of having a chance to take the lead.
  12. You are right I get a little sensitive when people criticize 16, 17, and 18 year old kids for decisions they make in a high intensity fast action game. Whether the pace was fast or not, the decisions they have to make do occur fast, and we as fans sometimes are a little too critical for the decisions that they make. So if you are not talking about the coaching staff then you are laying it in the kids. My son and the other players appreciate the support that you have for the decisions that they made. I will make sure and relay that back to him so he can work on it.
  13. How did they underestimate OF when they only beat them by 1 point in the OF tournament. I could understand underestimating them then, but in district too. That doesn't fly.
  14. 1. Orangefield was 6 for 10 from the FT line. My son said that their goal is 70 percent so they were one free throw off from that. 2. It seemed from the stands like their lack of aggressiveness and their patience is what kept the score close and low. If they would have been aggressive and taken quick shots the pace of the game would have gone up. They were patient and worked the ball and made HJ work on defense. They did exactly what HJ did not want them to do. 3. If they were going to be aggressive out of their zone, then they could have run man-to-man. They seemed to go to the zone because #3 was getting too many lay-ups. HJ seemed to get out of rhythm during this time. For someone whose team just lost by 2 points to the first place team in district, you sure are critical of a lot of things that were done by the coaching staff.
  15. Sanchez of BC is also very good. Dennis is no longer on WOS team.
  16. I watched them play OF a couple of weeks ago. They shot lights out that night too. I was an awesome display. Then I saw that they barely beat HF and BC. I guess they are up and down. That could play a part come the rest of district. They need to be consistent from downtown.
  17. Jasper has been on fire for one game. They barely beat HF two games ago (shot at the buzzer). They barely beat BC the game before that at home. Orangefield has not been on fire either. Whichever one gets hot the next few games will be important. OF better come ready to play if they want to get one against Jasper at Jasper. This is what it is all about. One game.
