  1. We've got a Code Black...I repeat, Code Black!!!
  2. Tried to tell ya....I'm sure most teams believe they're bigger, faster, stronger, better coached with more talent than the Pirates....please see earlier post. Heart, grit and determination wins everytime. These kids and this town are resilient. Like I said to the guy who picked the Coogs by 35.....well, you've got it to do, just couldn't get it done.
  3. Go Pirates...aka Black&Gold Rocky Balboa High!! I understand, We're the little-brother Pitates...Red&White Rocky Balboa High!!! Toss out stats, last weeks game film, and crystal ball predictions. The Pirates dont get run-over....if you're gonna beat us.. Tip#1- Pack a lunch Tip#2- Be prepared for a full 48 minute war Tip#3- Pirstes dont understand "quit" So proud!
  4. Write it out on paper...compare stats, and put way too much thought on who beat who, that lost by 6 to a team your team could easily beat by 40+. Its a testament to the team and town that these young men are able to play tonight. Regardless of the outcome...the 'Coogs better be ready to play 48 full minutes, whistle to whistle...because they'll definitely have it to do. Go Pirates!
  5. Could we have one or two to sell? We need jerseys...😂
  6. How bad are the Vidir schools? Legitimately... just curious.
  7. Sorry to jump on the soapbox with you but I'll throw my 2 cents in...Mauriceville got HAMMERED, again. It's not that we're low, it's the fact that record rainfall got us, again. And we're pretty much in the intersection of the drainage area...Cow bayou, Adam's bayou...you name it. The real problem here is the RR tracks...That's what floods most of Mauriceville (including the school) and the majority of Deweyville. When drainage water to the natural drainage backs up, the RR tracks serve as a levee. For those inside that levee, well...get ready to flood, again. My land drains very well. I'm one of the lucky ones. But we need reinforced flow gates under the RR tracks...spaced evenly. As for our Evadale game...we were looking forward to that game above all else... I feel we wouldve brought it back...but oh well, glad everyone's safe and The 'Dale got them a game with Lumberton. Good job Rebs! Good luck in district fellas.
  8. Don't take it so serious folks...this is just a couple programs who want to and are able to play. It doesn't matter...At least they are fortunate enough to have kids/parents/students who can make it to the game. Let them play. Some local areas are still underwater with players/coaches who've been flooded out, again.
  9. Newton Eagles win the game, not sure why it took 6 pages to get here...No doubt about it, WOS is a great program but don't get it done tomorrow night. Here's to the "other" Eagles...the young men that played 75% of every game last year (had to pull starters to keep it below 100-7) This will be their year! Go Coach Johnston and your 2019 Newton Eagles!!!
  10. What the Deweyville kids give up in talent, size, numbers and speed they make up for in heart. I'm sure most of you aren't concerned with a 2A early season score but if anyone cares anything at all about the game of football, you should come and watch a game. Sure, we had way more than our share of mistakes but there is no quit in these young men. We had 4 injured Seniors watching from the sidelines tonight and still fought to the end to pull out the win. It's like watching a Rocky movie...they just keep getting back up and leave it all on the field. Much respect to these kids and hats off to Coach Prouse and staff for having these young men in such great condition. Go Pirates!!!
  11. All the talent that was "lost last year" was usually cheering from the sidelines by the end of the 1st Qtr in 2018 t(well into the playoffs.) The freshmen and sophomores played more in 2018 than the "stars" until deep in the run. This is one of the reasons why they are ALWAYS a great Texas football team. These kids will be the next group of talent.....and so on and so forth.
  12. Deweyville is young and on the small side, however they are very physical and conditioning looks really good for this time of year. Buna has some size and a legit RB. Defense looked pretty salty. Bridge City had numbers with some size of their own. I was impressed with their ability to throw the ball downfield. It was about what you would expect for a first scrimmage, everybody's got some work to do and clean a few things up.
  13. Cardinal Backer... Just because you see the Eagles graduate a lot of kids..please remember this. Who do you think was on the field continuing to rack up video game numbers in the 1st qtr of most games after all the starters were pulled to be "gentlemen" and keep from running the score to 214-7 this past year? Yep, well...now those kids gets to make their run at glory!
  14. Just looking around to see if anyone has any info or contacts for a 15-17U Summer baseball team. Thanks
  15. Chester86, We all agree with you bud. Seriously, As entertaining as this post has been...My heart does go out to all involved. This stinks for everyone...a team that is punished for something they had no control of, a Coach who may have unintentionally made an honest mistake, another Coach who could "possibly" be guilty of treachery, a third team who was "possibly" named District Champs without "earning" it, or maybe even an upper-classmen on a team that is catching flak for a parent that could've "possibly" done the unthinkable. It's run it's course and it will be what it is. No matter what color you wear, we're all the same...EVERY SINGLE kid in that district worked their tail off to be the best they could, EVERY underpaid Coach that put his/her heart and soul into their program, EVERY parent who sacrificed everything for their kiddo...please just take a second and realize what it's all about. We all want the very best for our own and we're proud. And this site is a great platform to brag and showcase all the great things mentioned above...I understand that there will be strong feelings about this topic...all the way around. I sincerely wish every single player, team, coach and parent involved, the very best. Y'all go and make our area proud in the playoffs...Please don't let this mess define your season.
  16. *Breaking News* Due to extremely high web traffic recently and a record-breaking amount of downloads, SETXSPORTS will now be...GameChangerSETXSPORTSForum.
  17. And.....as a disclaimer...I don't have "facts" just the blades of the rumor mill spinning. I have no idea who the whistleblower was...and frankly, I dont think it matters. Rules were broken and enforced...I hate it for the kids but such is life...they'll still have their playoff opportunities. And I wish them well.
  18. Oh, this can of worms is slithering now...lol. Everyone has "facts"...could their have "possibly" been a player recruited from another school to BC who was promised certain things that didn't play out the way it was agreed? ...reeks of an inside job. A slighted baseball parent can be more viscious than a mortal enemy. Just food for thought...it may or may not be floating around Texas Ave. already.
  19. Ouch....just stopped by to see if everyone was playing nice, guess not. Lots of hurt feelings...I get that. I do, however hate to see such a great, loving OC relationship between LC-M and BC being destroyed by such "indiscretions". The Cards hate the Bears because they moved from 3rd place to 2nd place in district...the Bears (and Hawks and Tigers) hate the Cards because they "cheated" and beat them...its chaos. Just a different perspective (I did like the Russian collusion idea). Honestly, who would know how many Varsity and JV games a JV kid pinch ran? A parent of a pine-riding upperclassmen who can't even get his spikes dirty or a Head Coach across the county preparing his team for the play-offs...again? If you've been around this sport much, you know this answer! Good Luck in the play-offs to all area teams!!!
  20. Congrats Coach Neece! More importantly...congrats Anahuac, you instantly just got a lot better. Certainly a program to watch... Oh, and to Anahuac...just so you know, they dont get any better than Greg Neece...both on and off the field. Exciting times for y'all!!
