  1. Congrats to the Rebels on their win tonight. Iron sharpens Iron. Good luck on your season!
  2. Well, obviously Attitude Isn't Everything... listen y'all. West Orange Stark is a tradition-rich football factory with great kids and great coaching. We ALL pull for the Mighty Mustangs during their deep playoff runs. I applaud CT for playing a tough non-district schedule to get his team prepared for a deep run. The problem is, when you lose....you don't take it well, I understand. Most folks are that fortunate to have a "Always Dominant" team. We have down years, new coaches, rebuilding, etc. So it gets frustrating to have to pattycake y'all through the "tough times". Trust everyone on here....it's gonna be ok, y'all will do fine. Newton is unbelievable this year... It will be a positive learning experience for you program. Go Stangs! Go "Purple Reign"!!!!
  3. Yeah...our little team beat Evadale 3 times in 7 on 7, on our way to the State Tournament in College Station with 11 kids. Good Luck on Friday, no bad blood here!
  4. I don't recall anyone saying we were awesome....We dress 23 kids, out of which only 3 weigh over 200lbs...And please don't discard the talent of the Kountze running back due to their record...he's a stud. You have offensive weapons, Congratulations to the kids and your school. Y'all must've been busy giving Nortland Christian the business while we played up a division.
  5. I would say Kountze was a big win...we played up a division, had to overcome several mistakes and trailing 13-8 at the Half... Deweyville only has 3 kids over 200lbs....but we have a lot of speed and are very physical. We've faced some extremely talented RB's so far in Joaquin, Colmesnil and Kountze. I look for the Pirates to come out on top in this one.
  6. Or how successful you were with "so and so" or how your 20?? team was the greatest ever in the history of football. This happens every Friday folks....some win, some lose but all these kids are giving their best. You may get a year when you're loaded with talent....then you're a great coach ( because you win). They all graduate, you're young and challenged...and you lose....(you're a terrible coach, you didn't "coach up" you're new team. Some schools are just learning what we've all been dealing with for years. (It's gonna be alright guys...the Sun will rise tomorrow). Just do the best you can!
  7. Very well said.....at the end of the day, these are all still young men...some are still kids. They all work their tails off just to step on the field on Friday nights. Most folks on here don't have the luxury to have a hometown team who is a "football factory" or "always dominant". We all experience down years, new coaching, etc...I care more about how you develop the young men you have then what your team did in 30 yrs ago...
  8. Greg Bass is the DC at Deweyville. Not sure about Evadale though.
  9. Haven't had a chance yet to check out the Rebels...but they do always come to play!
  10. Deweyville fights to overcome a 13-8 halftime lead by the Lions and Defense stood tough late in the 4th to improve to 2-1. Great game Pirates!
  11. Yes sir. Big Thanks to Coach Babin and Lumberton for allowing us to play in their awesome stadium.
  12. Deweyville fights to overcome a 13-8 halftime lead by the Lions and Defense stood tough late in the 4th to improve to 2-1. Great game Pirates!
  13. There sure was a lot of talk leading up to this game.....and both teams will be better because of this game. But seriously, Newton is clearly the better team. Not a shot at the Blue and Silver....but a praise for the Purple! Back to Back hardware
  14. Terrible pass interference call....no matter who you're pulling for. That changes the entire game. Coach Johnston called out Gunter's defense for screaming out the snap count (causing Newton's o-line to jump repeatedly) Refs called it once...Delay of Game on Defense. Gunter coach tells ref "you can talk on defense" .....come on. Then 3 false start penalties over the next 5 plays in the same possession? It's much different when you get to watch (and listen) on TV. GO EAGLES!!!!!
  15. I had mine (LCM '95 and my dad's LCM '71) I can't help but feel it connected us somehow. I still remember the pride I felt in seeing those old jackets lying up on the pile of rubble out fromt of my parent's house after Hurricane Harvey destroyed their home. I know what we went through to earn those jackets. Everybody on here understands that it meant way more than just a jacket. I'm sure both of them ended up together in a FEMA dump pile somewhere....but I'm not sad I'm headed over to the Butch tonight to watch my Freshman son go and earn his Deweyville Pirate letter jacket.
  16. Tough game on the road tonight with playoff implications....What do y'all think?
