  1. I posted on here after our scrimmage against the Bucs (vs Deweyville) that EC was "a well coached and really talented team".....There were several folks that quoted me and laughed, informing me ""oh yeah, thats why they were picked to finish 4th in their district" Congrats EC! Great luck to you in the playoffs!
  2. Great job Newton!!!! Im definitely seeing a little well deserved "hardware" come December!
  3. 14-0 @ the Half.... Once again...Defense playing solid. Offense can't overcome the penalties.
  4. I have to say...every game we've lost this year has went down to the wire and been decided by only a handful. Our boys fight to the final whistle. Last night we seemed uncharacteristically flat coming out (The dreaded bye week blues?) Anyway, we hung around and even fought back to a 3rd Qtr lead 15-14. Offense able to move the ball down the field late trailing 22-15 but a holding call stagnated the drive. I'm proud of what's going on in the 'Ville right now...sure, we've got some work to do but I'm proud of these young men who refuse to quit, week after week.
  5. Did I just read that right??? Newton is overrated??? Good luck with that. At least once its over, you can tell everyone you got to see the State Champs play.....maybe it will clear up any doubts you have on that "film" you saw.
  6. Yes sir....they really are that good! Go Eagles
  7. 3rd week straight....all the way to the wire. (this one went well past it) Couldnt be more proud of the heart these kids have shown every snap, every game. For a small in numbers, small in stature bunch...they will flat bring it. No matter the score, after the last whistle blows...these boys have nothing left, they leave it all on the field. They never give up.... Who could ask for anything more? Shipload of heart! Great job Pirates
  8. What a game for my lil band of Pirates! They brought nothing but heart to Evadale last night. Congratulations to the Rebs but I must say...the Pirates led 13-8 almost the entire game and lost the lead with 3:00 mins left in the 4th to a 4th down and 10, eyes closed 30yd toss to the back of the end zone and just could not come back. Pirates Defense logged 3 interceptions and a fumble recovery but couldn't capitalize. At the end of the day...alot of these kids don't even have a home to go to at night and spending their days gutting homes and moving furniture. Absolute fantastic bunch of young men. No matter the score, I am extremely proud. Those boys left everything they had on that field in Evadale.
  9. So proud to see the great turnout. What a wonderful event that Deweyville put on for our entire SETX community. There were fans in attendance from many different schools BC, WOS, Orangefield and LCM to cheer on the Pirates. It's really a shame that not a single media outlet came out to cover such a wonderful event. There was tailgating, a DJ, 1600lbs of BBQ, drinks, even Tetanus shots...all made available for free to the public via a welcome all invitation. The weather was perfect for Friday Night Football and the young Pirates were hungry for a win. Great job guys!
  10. Oh, my apologies....I didn't see the district predictions before I watched the game... The observation from the Visitor side of the field was that they had some talent. Not that they were gonna dominate their district. Wonder why the even bother playing?
  11. That guy's the worst thing that happened to East Texas since the introduction of the Fire Ant!
  12. Coach Neese...the"mad scientist" has his foot on the throttle and his hand on the wheel driving this talented Offensive bunch all the way to Jerry World!
  13. Buccaneers 42 Pirates 7 in 4 live Qtrs. Despite the score, I have to say that I like what I saw from Deweyville. East Chambers is very talented on both sides of the ball. The Pirates offense managed to move the ball well but had a couple costly turnovers in the first half. One being a scoop-and-six for the Bucs defense...21-7 at half. Deweyville dresses only 23 Pirates in total (9th-12th grade) but show to be a scrappy, well conditioned bunch. Looking forward to a great year with Coach Prouse. Go Pirates!
  14. Coach Neece loved his Wildcats and always will. People need to realize that coaches are human. None of us "civilians" on here have to explain to the media why we make life decisions in our own jobs.... Great run at Kirbyille, Coach. Thank you for all you did for the kids and community. You've impacted many young lives everywhere you've been. Good luck in Newton!
  15. Hats off to Coach Prouse and his 23 Pirates....What they lack in talent and numbers, they make up for in heart, conditioning and discipline. I didn't notice Kelly's "first string" or "second string" as they rotated positions every 6th play. The Pirates, on the other hand do not have that luxury. Kelly has a ton of talent, paired well with strong coaching and should do well this year. Good luck Bulldogs! The small band of Pirates capitalized on conditioning and discipline to best the Bulldogs. The new offense Prouse has instituted will rely heavily on these two characteristics to be successful. Great job and good luck to both programs and all the young men who choose everyday to work hard in the South Texas heat.
