  1. In my own humble opinion... I feel that everyone here should pull for our local Silsbee Tigers. Hats off to your program for just wanting to play! It's always too easy to look around and find all the problems out there...but think about those Senior Tigers, getting another game to suit up and get after it. I absolutely love it! No matter the outcome, I'm super proud.
  2. Just for the record, The Warriors from Warren look legit. You can say the teams they've played are down this year (and it's been small 2A teams) but from what I've seen, they're big and athletic. Not sure how they'll do in their own district but they are playing some ball.
  3. Way to go Vidor! I hope they aren't gonna continue these super close games all season...lol. 🤣
  4. Thanks for always having the scoop to share on the small schools BobCat!
  5. Yes sir, they've done a lot...especially when you see just how bad everything was destroyed. And I wouldn't worry about your Rebs either NetCat. It's been rough on everyone and I know a lot of the Evadale kids were affected as well. From what I hear, Warren has a legit group. I'll probably catch some flak for that from that from all the big school folks on here but you know what I mean. 😊
  6. Yes sir, unfortunately. The farther East you go, the worse it gets. Obviously, all our team wasn't able to make the game last night but I'm proud of what I saw and most importantly, the kids got to play. We'll be ok. (I'm not claiming a State Title) but we're gonna be ok.
  7. I'm just proud the Mustangs are still playing ball. I do remember a few years ago their numbers were so low they were concerned about having enough for a team. Even though we're district opponents, proud for the Burkeville Mustangs!
  8. Yes sir, we had 1/2 of our stadium lights/poles come down in the storm...and as 2020 would have it, one crushed a school bus. The good news is...a lot of the 'Ville got power back today. Hopefully now, we can get all our team back and get a week in to prepare for Colmesnil on Friday.
  9. Yeah, went down 16-0 in the first few minutes. A good 'ol mud bowl. We played what we were able to bring. Sounds like most got power back tonight, so hopefully we can get everyone back home and together next week. We're so glad we were just able to play. We'll get our 2 starting linemen back next week. Defense settled in and held 3 scoreless quarters after a rough start, a couple turnovers killed some good drives on O. No worries, we're gonna be ok.
  10. The majority of Deweyville is still without power tonight...that's alright, It's coming. However, they're heading up to Cushing tomorrow with a small group who don't understand the word "quit" and a very proud Coaching staff who feel the same! Thanks to DISD for allowing these young men the opportunity to go and play. How about we have a little cheering section on here for the 409? Go Pirates!
  11. Wonderful news to hear! Hats off to those Burkeville boys as well!
  12. Today a group of Deweyville High School athletes were out in the Orange county community cleaning yards and removing debris for area residents. They were able to positively impact 7 different families today and are planning another day of it tomorrow. I'm proud of these young men and women and just wanted to share some good news. If anyone knows of a family in need or elderly people who could use a helping hand, let me know. God Bless and Go Pirates!
  13. Yes sir, we were very fortunate. Lost some big oaks and most of the fence, obviously a few shingles but nothing structural.
  14. I live in Mauriceville, for our area...it's extremely similar to Hurricane Rita. The farther East you go (towards Orange) the worse it gets. As bad as it seems, we were very fortunate considering what just rolled through here.
  15. Who's making excuses??? Not me. I'm the first to give SA credit, y'all have a great football program. I mean Refugio is good as well, but obviously you know that. I am curious as to why SA (large 2A with good numbers) plays down in non-district every year? Aren't there some really good teams in your own backyard to prepare you for a title? Let's see...Newton, WO-S, Jasper? Oh wait, they're bigger than y'all with great programs also. Can't do that. A few losses might keep those Shelbyville kids from commuting over to your school to play. Good luck on your season!
  16. My apologies....I misunderstood, but you are exactly right. There are different expectations and there should be. This Forum isn't a D1 scouting tool or only for legacy powerhouses. We all love it when our local schools go deep in the playoffs or bring back a ring! The majority of these kids aren't going D1, or D2 for that matter but it doesnt mean we dont get excited for a solid season, perhaps a District Championship with some kids that will never get another snap once they grab their diploma. Small school high school football is still high school football. The big school "D1" enthusiasts on here chuckle and are extremely quick to blow out others candles. When you have 18-20 kids TOTAL, your starters never step off the field...one injury potentially changes the outcome of the entire season. It's a much different animal once you drop below 3A ball. Oh well, Go Pirates!
  17. Sounds like that baseball tip line bit y'all right in the tailbone pad.
  18. 🤣 Sorry LC-M, that yours didn't go as well...yikes! 3-1 BC???
  19. I wish! My son is a Senior there...that would be a dream. I do give plenty "motivational support" and may or may not have questioned an officials accountability from time to time...lol but no, I'm not a coach.
