No way they go 6-4 and absolutely positively not 8-2. In district alone they will have losses to Buna, Kirbyville, Kountze, EC, Woodville, and Anahuac. I wish them the best of luck in the future, but this season won't be their's

Apparently they didn't lose anyone from last year, except Lavalais according to your last sentence. Kinda contradicted yourself there. But yes He was a difference maker especially on the D side of the ball.

    My thoughts...

Hemphill- was bad last year but they return atleast a decent QB.  Wont be a pushover, should be a win.
Burkeville- just based on score watching should be a cruise.
Sabine Pass- should be another nice easy win for HD.
Colmesneil- don't know what they have coming back, but HD has taken care of business the last 2 years.  Would be surprised if that changed.
West Sabine- lose 80% of their OL but have a couple of good skill kids returning.  Right now I'd say WS but this is more a wait and see.  Probably the first L

Groveton- playoff team in 2A, has beat HD the last 2 years.  Must win game to start district.  get behind the 8 ball with a loss here
    West Hardin- see Colmesneil
Anderson-Shiro- playoff team in 2A that has a lot of players coming back.  If you don't beat Groveton this becomes must win with Centerville looming.
Centerville-district favorite and possibly region favorite.  play a come right at you style of O, which doesn't bode well for a team with not a ton of size
Lovelady- very possibly a win and you are in game for HD.  don't know what LL has back

At worst I see HD winning 4 games and missing the playoffs.  At best I see 8-2 and a 2nd place finish.

Should be wins- Burkeville, Colmesneil, West Hardin, Sabine Pass

Closer to wins than losses- Hemphill, Lovelady

Closer to losses than wins- West Sabine, Groveton

Gonna have to play really really well- Centerville, Anderson-Shiro

HD will be just fine in most their games. The Centerville, West Sabine and Groveton games will be very competitive and could go either way. Once again, I see HD going 7-3 and getting 2nd in District behind Centerville. Hope I'm wrong and we beat CV, but they are loaded. Gator, the same athletes we have on offense, will play on defense. This is 1A football, we have to play iron man football, HD has always done it. I hope the Coaches invest in running some gassers with our boys. You and I both played both ways and never came off the field unless it was special teams. Keep the best players on the field. Ole Coach Dupree and Roberts knew that. As long as Cade Huckaby, Martin Doucet, Sedric DeBlanc, Kyle Hopkins, Kyle Rayon, Aaron Taylor and Seth Dryden are on defense, we will be ok. HD NATION!

Shelbyville is the best team on the schedule. I will give all of my thoughts when I get in front of a computer. HD nation can ponder my proclamation in the meantime.

Yes OldSchool2, I'm pretty sure everyone over the age of 2 already knows this. But i'm willing to bet most of the schools in Texas the best tech they have is the stop watch. Even by your own reasoning they're still fast. Their speed will match up with any other speedsters in Texas 2A. I'm not saying at all that speed translates into points. I am saying that this is something HD has lacked in recent years.

Most teams have at least one or two 4.45-4.50 kids. This is common knowledge to all folks that have been around sports. Yes, the NFL has players that can and can not run this fast. When a man it pure muscle and 6'4 250lbs or bigger, he will not always run the 4.4 or 4.5's. Just go to any football practice or track practice with a stop watch, these young kids can fly. Guess when your young, light and athletic you can run.

Bottom line is, there is no data that proves 7 on 7 makes you a better team. Yes, more reps at a certain thing does generally get positive results. I guess one could argue that instead of doing 7 on 7, how about just hitting the weight room hard and work on regular football drills. 7 on 7 is taking away from other things. Also there is the argument of the running teams not doing 7 on 7, just the teams that will throw a whole bunch. Furthermore, I believe doing anything related to football is always good. Heck I like 7 on 7, just don't believe all the hype.

Did Dan Fouts, Jim Kelly, or any number of great NFL QBs play 7on7?

All I'm saying is that you don't need 7on7 to be successful.

I think it's great. This will be the first year we are going to participate in SQTs. Hosting a non-SQT tournament this year as a fundraiser to help fund the SQTs and possible state. Also have local businesses willing to help out if needed.

Usually do two normal tournaments and the Longview league. Won the Longview league past two years.

Organization is key for us. Have 4/5 guys helping out. Few players that have either been in the NFL or is still currently in the NFL. Few others that are close to the program. None of which have a personal agenda.

Meet with the HS coaches before it all gets started then have a meeting with the HS coaches and players. Gets the point across.

Like I stated earlier, organization is key.

    7on7 needs HS coaches involved.

Don't need football to be like AAU has done hoops and it's heading that direction now.
