  1. To me, different factors would come in to play.

Are the kids working hard during practice or goofing off?

Are they 'know-it-alls' who are known to want things 'their way'?

Are they a team player...some are when winning, but not when losing.

Or, are they hard working, dedicated, good kids who just might have some good ideas? What harm can it do to listen. Even if you don't agree.

If a kid wants more playing time...ask the coach 'what can I do to improve'...instead of just asking for more playing time. Then do what he suggests. It shows the coach you are serious about doing a good job and not just about 'playing time'.

  2. Qb is weakest part of Lumbertons offense.

Hughes is just a sophmore. There will be growing pains. I agree we need some sort of passing threat. However, we are relatively young with several sophmores playing. Not much was expected of Lumberton this year. I think coach creduer is doing a great job with what he has. Granted we will get better, don't raise your expectations based on the success obtained with raw unproven talent.

smart move by coach creduer starting Hughes. the naysayers will be glad he did the next two years. Just trust that he will progress throughout the year. also, there is not as much pressure with hanna and beard in the backfield.

    I agree about Hughes, dayton.

And, we have Asher, who is also a soph this year, who has had some good carries. His experience this year will help next year when Hanna is gone.

  3. I called myself leaving Beaumont at 7:10, which I know was stupid anyway.  I found that there was a long line of traffic from the 69/96 fork all the way to the stadium in Lumberton.  I missed a couple of minutes in the first Quarter.  It's crazy because the traffic jam was for people coming and going from Walmart.

Jag fans were there, but a lot of them left late in the third and early into the 4th.

Sometimes you might be better served to take the 96 North exit and go to the Chance "Something" cut off - it's the traffic light that has the Lumberton Municipal Offices on the right, Crawdad's Convenience Store/Exxon on the left.  Turn left there and proceed to Hwy. 69.  Make a left on Hwy. 69 and come in from the back way.  Just a thought.

I know what you are talking about.  It's W. Chance cutoff.  I don't know why I didn't think about that.  Thanks.

And, if you want to miss the traffic on 96, you can also take the Mitchell Rd exit just before the Y. Turn right onto Mitchell Rd then immediately turn left on Village Creek Parkway (or Old Silsbee Hwy as us oldtimers still call it) and take it all the way to W. Chance (it dead ends into W. Chance).  Turn left at the stop sign and go to the light at W. Chance and 96 and cross there. Going this way you miss all the traffic lights and the speed limit is 50.

Sweet!  I'll remember that in 2010 when we return to Raider stadium.  Thanks.

oops...Village Creek Parkway dead ends into East Chance (not West Chance). When you cross at 96 and E. Chance then you are on W. Chance.

  5. lol sorry if your feelings get hurt on a forum... i think the one who needs to grow up is the one who can't stand people making fun of them on the internet.. its all for fun man get over it

Some people can dish it out but they can't take it.

Also, when you make childish and immature remarks about people...you usually get childish and immature remarks in return.

Such is life in a forum.

  6. Why would a team that is undefeated want to 'intentionally lose a game'?.

As far as the player running the ball out of the endzone instead of downing it...I thought he just 'panicked'.

Then, with the ball on the 1 yd line...maybe they thought a safety was the 'best to hope for' instead of throwing an interception?  He did end up fumbling but do you think he fumbled 'on purpose'?. Looked to me like he had help (2 defenders on him helping to cause the fumble).

OTOH...maybe Lumberton was just better than what you expected?

Vidor beat us fair and square. But after looking at the stats for that game...they didn't 'dominate' on the field like they said they did. They played better in the second half when it counted.

They had 32 yards more in total offense than we did. Penalties hurt us bad in that game. We had 100 yards in penalties opposed to their 40.

We had 75 yards more in total offense than Central. Central had 70 yards in penalties as opposed to 45 for Lumberton.

Shows how important special teams and defensive plays are.

Maybe Central just thought they had this one in the bag before it started? That's a bad place to be if that was the case. We know...I think that may have had a lot to do with our loss to Vidor (thinking we had it won after the first half). Then being 'stunned' when the tables turned.

Reading all that was said about Central on here...I really expected way better from them. Wasn't even sure we could win this one after the way we played in Vidor.

Goes to show that anyone can have a bad night and any team can win on any given night. Nothing should be taken for granted.

I was impressed with our guys last night. Too bad the feeling is that Central 'wanted to lose'. Looked to me that Lumberton wanted to win.

  7. I guess it's all in the way you look at things.

I saw (most) Lumberton fans tell it like it was. Vidor came out in the second half and looked like a different team. And won. They were congratulated for how their boys played.

One poster from Vidor wondered what happened to Lumberton...a poster from Lumberton answered. Some of our starters didn't play. He even stated that it may not have mattered if they had played. I didn't take it as an excuse...just saying why we didn't play as well.

The fact is, we lost and Vidor won. Whatever the reasons that's how it went. If our starters are hurt...we need someone else to step up and play. We aren't going to win much if that happens again.

There were bad calls that went both ways the way they do in every high school game played.

Every team that loses looks for reasons why they lost. Why do coaches pour over film if not to find what went wrong? Just because you state the reason doesn't necessarily  mean you are making excuses. Facts are facts.

And, what is the difference in saying Lumberton had players hurt, which hurt the team and PNG saying they wish the coach would have done something different (ie: blame the coach)? Both scenarios apparently hurt the respective teams. An 'excuse' is an 'excuse'. Unless it comes from PNG?

  8. Second half---- Not that it matters but you asked so let me help you.

    Crew Marlow starting LB out

Anthony Beard starting LB out most of the 2nd half

J Hanna played second half banged up he even sat out some of first with a few knicks

This is one reason Vidor ran much  better in 2nd half, I am not saying that they might not have done this with these 3 def. players in but you asked so I tried to help!

    Lets see.....

    Last year....

Dayton was playing with a 3rd string QB and several defensive people out...

    Lumberton said....

    that didn't matter...

now the shoe is on the other foot....

    CONGRATS VIDOR!!!

Wonder if Dave Campell will change those playoff predictions...

Picking the top three teams from 20-4A will be REALLY tough!

Good luck to ALL the teams!

The Broncos will be waiting to play one of the teams.

    ps....

I wouldn't want to be paired against North Forest.

    Talk about a QUALITY team!

    Let's see....

iwonsee was anwering a question as to what happened to us in the second half to us.

He said 'not that it matters'

He also said 'not that Vidor might not have done this with those 3 def. players in'.

the shoe is on the other foot....BUT...

He didn't use it as an excuse saying the result would have (for sure) been different...like Dayton did (all season last year)

Nor will we cry about it the rest of the year (like Dayton did)

  9. When I said 'embarrased', I was in reference to how our boys felt about the whole season.  You know, not making the playoffs and having a losing season.  I know the Raiders were good last year.  Heck, I was on the bandwagon when the playoffs started, if you remember...

And we were glad to have you aboard!!

Ok, it's a new year for all. No team is the same as last year. Even though some had Livingston picked to be in the top 4, it seems they are not as good this year as what people thought.

I haven't seen Vidor or Central, but Vidor almost beat what I've heard is a much better Central team than last year's team. That should tell us that we can't go in to this game or any game thinking it's a 'gimme' game just because we did well against them last year.

Looking forward to a good, hard fought game.

    Lumberton 28

    Vidor 17

  10. In Raider's quarterback Hughes first game he looked rough....his passes looked like kicks going end over end. In the second game I was thrilled to see him executing that late 1st half drive that lead to a score, he looked more calm in the pocket and took his time to find the open man and the passes throughout the game couldn't have been better.

Bottom line is and I don't give a crap what others think....Coach Creduer knows what the heck he is doing and he is bringing out the pride in our players (something lumberton never had in the past), and along with that he let's these kids know what they are capable of doing. He doesn't doubt what they can do one bit. We are getting better and it's about to get ugly!

And at these games our Fans need to get into the game and cheer every once in a while, sometimes when I cheered I got looked at funny....There is that pride thing I was talking about only now our fans need to absorb some of this.

I know there was talk before the season started about rather it would be Hughes or Duvall (sp?). I think the coaches made a smart decision for lumberton's football future by going with Hughes. He is just a soph. right?

Yes, I think they made the right choice. Duvall is a senior and I believe we need him more on defense anyway. We have a good running game which will help until Hughes is more confident. I think he will be fine.
