I agree, but the Silsbee/Jasper game for the district title would be even bigger if the Bulldogs win this game.

This list tells me something different, honestly. Seems like defense is harder to coach than it has ever been on every level. The best high school defenses seem to be willing to use their best athletes. West Orange has historically done that and so has Newton. That's why they win 75-80% of the time. Offense sells tickets, but defense wins.

I'll never understand why anyone in an authoritative position would ever compromise a career over something like this. We know it happens all the time and usually doesn't end well for anyone, The people doing it know that, too.

I know that Jasper fans that love the rivalry hate to see this, too. We haven't beaten WOS as much as we'd like to and who knows what will happen next week, but we always want them playing us at their best. It sucks.

We love the guy. He wasn't gonna fix the offense overnight. My concern is that the defense hasn't been as good as we need it to be to beat good teams. I think we'll get better as the season progresses.

The past really doesn't matter in situations like this. We've got to be a lot better than we have been lately to win this game.

I've never met Coach Danaher, but I've also never heard anything remotely bad about him. Praying for him and those that will struggle through this by his side.

Yep. They had to do something. NU is one of the worst defenses in the country. I don't know that it will matter much, but they just need to be aggressive and run to the ball. Chinander had improved that defense every year, so it's not like he forgot how to coach. The effort just hasn't been there on the field.

The other plus is that they have plenty of money to get a proven winner. I'd like to see Mickey Joseph win a bunch of games and earn the job. He's a great closer in recruiting and a really good coach. Fred Hoiberg might be next if the basketball team starts off slow. I think Alberts is ready to move on from the coaches in the athletic program that are underperforming.

Most people thought Frost was the best possible hire when NU brought him in, but it just didn't work. Receivers coach Mickey Joseph will take over on an interim basis. It'll be interesting to see which direction AD Trev Albert chooses to go.

I don't think any of us expected to go through pre-district unscathed and honestly, I have no idea what will happen at home against #1 Franklin (3A-D1). We need to do a lot better than we did tonight, even if we lose.

We took it on the chin tonight. Our offense couldn't run the ball and we couldn't stop the run when we had to. Lots of dropped balls, too. Newton deserves credit. They were better than us.
