  1. They won't have problems selling out The Pit as long as Pitino can build something sustainable here. UNM has always been a basketball school, but times had been tough for a while since Alford left for UCLA. He really had it going the first few years after I got here (2011). The Lobos were briefly in the top 10 at one point and a #3 seed in the tournament. There's no reason that UNM can't be the marquee mid-major program in the West. Gonzaga doesn't count. LOL
  2. I've told people here in Albuquerque that the Lobos should drop down to the FCS level in football and either rejoin the WAC or join the Big Sky conference. It's a really difficult place to recruit to that might produce an NFL prospect every five years. There are a few decent high school players, but most of them go out of state to play college ball. They average around 15K for home attendance and that seems high. Most of the games I've been to drew less than 10K. They need to do something to get butts in the seats. Being competitive at the FCS level would make a difference.
  3. Good news. He would have been better off at LU in the first place. UNM is a diaper fire right now. If the Cards and Lobos played right now, I don't think either school would win. I really don't.
  4. Would love to see it, Offense has been a problem the past two seasons, particularly at tailback. If we can put a couple of big time threats back there, we might have a shot. A lot would have to go right.
  5. Lamar is ranked #361 of the 363 D1 basketball programs in the nation. This may be the lowest they've ever been. 2023 Pomeroy College Basketball Ratings (kenpom.com)
  6. We were drinking heavily on a dance floor full of banana peels that day. Never mind that the Blue Devils were loaded that year.
  7. BTW- LU was my first thought the minute UT announced the separation. That always crosses my mind any high-profile football or basketball coach has something like this happen.
  8. What does this have to do with anything?
  9. There's no doubt that bringing him in would be huge for LU in a lot of ways even beyond basketball, but is it realistic given his ability and the lack of money in the program? Why would he choose LU over any other school that would offer more to help him rebuild his career? Don't get me wrong. I've loved LU basketball all my life and I think they should be one of the top mid-major basketball programs in the country, but I just can't see why he would do it.
  10. You're right, but will the new AD give him time to fix it?
  11. The Cardinals might be the worst team in D1 right now. They sorely need a guy like him, but there will be schools in better positions to win that have more cache' (and cash) lining up to hire him that won't care about the PR hit that would come with it.
  12. When my mother didn't want me in her presence, she would tell me to "go shut up somewhere". Maybe someone in this thread should do that since he doesn't contribute anything ever, 😆
  13. I wonder if Toby will be on it...😆
  14. Has the Enterprise asked for it? My gut says we might all be just bones otherwise,
  15. Gut says SOC, but I'm hoping that PNG gets it done. It'll be close.
  16. He'd be a great choice, but would he do it?
  17. Wouldn't one of the successful high school coaches in the area have a better chance to win at LU than most of the middling college coaches that they usually look at who know nothing about the talent in SETX? I know experience matters, but it can't get any worse than it already is. Just a thought,
  18. I was a HUGE LU fan growing up and the only time I was in that building was when we played WOS in a bi-district playoff game in '88. I remember walking up to the area where the arena is and looking around for a few minutes in awe of it. Great memory. I hope the money that was donated goes toward whatever infrastructure that the teams need.
  19. Tupac would still be alive if the Cards were shooting at him.
  20. Yikes. They're shooting .244 from deep, which 362nd according to the Score app. The advanced stats overall are dreadful. They could pull 15 football players and swap them out with no noticeable difference statistically.
  21. Where is he going to college? Has he decided?
  22. Yeah. Jasper got hosed multiple times that way. It's just a reminder that everything matters during the course of a game, regardless of the rules that determine the winner.
  23. Good season, Tigers. Hate to see anyone from our area lose a game that way. I guess it's better than penetrations, but still.
