Jasper's John McMillon debuted out of the Royals' pen against the Mariners on Thursday. He gave up a homer to Cal Raleigh, but also struck out two in the inning that he pitched.

You guys are dead on. The only two things you want to see in scrimmages are that plays are being run correctly against similar competition and that no one gets hurt. As far as Jasper goes, I want to see the defense play well. That should always be the foundation of our team.

Jasper had a 11pm practice last Friday night per KJAS, but I don't know if that's a regular thing that Coach Crumedy does. Someone there would have more info on that. It might be more common as long as the summers are like this.

It's an interesting school. I wish they had schools like that when I was growing up in the 80's and 90's.

Me too. Hopefully that'll be the only scheduling issue this season.

I'd like to see us get past the second round and I think we can, but that southern side of Region 3 will be tough to get through. It'll be interesting...

He's right about getting some of the local under-recruited kids on campus (and hopefully out of the portal). There's a lot of talent in Southeast Texas that would make a world of difference. What systems will they go with on offense and defense?

How are we feeling, Dawgs fans? I'm a firm believer that defense wins championships and we should be pretty good there, but will our offense improve enough to get us to a district title? I know Silsbee is supposed to be good again and WOS should be decent (?), so where do we stack up? Has anyone seen the schedule?

ESPN posted that "multiple sources" are linking Beard as a top candidate for the Ole Miss job. I have a feeling that there will be more schools in the mix before he decides where he wants to go.

That's it? Maybe the guy from Kansas should have gotten a closer look. That flying broom offense would have changed everything.

The Ivy League is a good baseball conference. They are really competitive. Losing one game isn't a bad thing.

Yeah. I'm pretty sure he had a 25K (or more??) night against somebody. I'm sure he threw a ton of pitches that night and on a regular basis. I'm all for letting kids throw a decent number of pitches, but not to that extreme at all. They need to be taught how to pitch to contact at times to limit pitch counts.

Did he throw some through the window? He was pretty wild sometimes. 😆

I'm a Nebraska fan and I know that he and Brittain Simmons (c/o '26) are both offered there. I'd love to see Rhule get some Jasper kids on that roster, but I would bet that they don't leave Texas. It's awesome that some of our kids are getting the exposure. It's a great way to motivate them...

Yeah. Josh didn't do a lot after that. We do have Cayne Ueckert with the Cubs. He almost made their bullpen after a great spring last year, but then he struggled with injuries and control at AAA Iowa. This is a huge year for him. Max Alvis played for Cleveland in the 60's and has more big league service time than anyone out of Jasper. Hopefully, either Cayne or someone else can get there soon.
