I've heard that we might be looking for a makeup game for our bye week on 10/25 to make up for the cancelled game with Lumberton. I'm sure schools around the area are going to be scrambling to get games after last week. I hope those of you in the worst hit areas are starting to recover.

I've always been critical of our scheduling since Barbay took over. I was giving him the benefit of the doubt, I guess. I think he's done a good job of making us respectable again after a lot of up and down seasons, but that's the one thing that drives me nuts. But respectable is a relative term and I know how some folks in the area feel about him. Coaching is one of those professions where a people aren't always gonna like how you do things. I thought about coaching when I was younger, but was smart enough to stay away from it.

They've routed us out of the playoffs several times and I was pumped when I found out that we scheduled them a couple of years ago. I don't think Barbay knew they were on the verge of this kind of collapse when the two schools made that deal.

I read somewhere that they were down 55-0 at half last week to Columbia. I had to look them up. I thought it was West Columbia at first glance. Wow.

DCTF has Jasper listed as a 32-point favorite in this game. It's sad how far the Cougars have fallen, but the Bulldogs are gonna be looking to take out some frustration this week and could cover that number early. Texas high school football is better when LaMarque is good and here's to hoping that they get back to playing competitive football soon.

Wow. You're so critical of us. Be a better fan and pull for your own bunch to get better instead of seeking out ways to criticize other programs. Life is too short to be spiteful like that.

Come on, man. That opinion is baseless and you know it is. Hunt is seldom used on offense and is getting less than 10 carries a game when he plays and he barely touched the ball when we beat BC by 51 a few weeks ago. Who knows if he'd have broken one on Diboll? Maybe? Those guys kicked our butts. It is what it is. Go worry about your own team instead of talking down about one that's a lot better than yours.

DCTF agrees that we're overrated by knocking us out of the 4A DII top ten altogether. I'll say it til I'm blue in the face. Diboll is VERY GOOD on defense. We got out butts kicked by those guys. On that side of the ball, they can play with a LOT of good teams. We won't learn much about the Bulldogs this week against a weak LaMarque bunch, but next week will be huge for us against the Mustangs down in Orange.

That's alright. We'll see if we belong there after we play you guys. If we lose, I won't have anything more to say about any rankings.

Jasper took quite a hit after the loss to Diboll and DCTF only has us by 32 over a really bad LaMarque team. I think they're underrating Diboll, too. Those dudes are legit...

Hard to go against the Eagles until someone beats them. I'll take them 28-20.

Jasper's district is weaker than it was last year and it was bad even then. It probably won't be a good indicator of where we're at going into the playoffs. I don't like to downplay anybody we play, but it's just the truth. The only good game on paper before the playoffs is West Orange and right now, they're probably a better group than we are. We'll know for sure in two weeks.

How many really good Jasper teams over the last 40 years does this sound like? The same three things always bite us. Penalties, turnovers at the worst times and the inability to play from behind. Having said all of that, I LOVE our defense. They're gonna give us a chance to be great if we can just clean a few things up on offense. I would guess that Diboll doubled us up in time of possession and the game was still right there for us at the end.

I remember past seasons where we could move the ball and score on a lot of teams, but we couldn't stop anybody. It's nice to have a good defense again in Jasper.

Honestly, this is better for us in the long run than going to Livingston and blowing them out. The game with WOS in two weeks is gonna be fun for both sides. I can't wait for that one...

I think they could be contenders in 3A if they can stay healthy. Their d-line is as good as advertised. We didn't run on them all night.

I hope they feel that way as a team and use it as motivation. Diboll is a good football team and maybe we're not as good as we think we are. LaMarque is definitely in trouble.
