That team wasn't as strong as some of the others. Surprised we even made it to the semis that year. We had either 7 or 9 starters out that game including Ingram. With that being said, they would have most likely one if we had everyone. That Lavega team was sick and VERY underrated.
As for this game I think it'll be closer than most think. I look for a 21-7 score until late second qtr and Carthage lays it on. A friend pointed a few things out to me. That offense gives us fits if ran correctly, don't know how many players are attending the Volleyball game in Garland, the distance and the rain.

If we stay within 15 - 20 points, I'll be happy. Anything close to 10 points and I'll be surprised.
This shouldn't be a good game, really. 
Looking for one of our new point guards to make some noise.

Looking at the stats for this game, the only battle Silsbee really lost was rebounds. Got out rebounded by 12. I guess that was to be expect given La Marque's size. We did have more assist and steals, so I guess that's something.

Lumberton has played a bunch of weak teams this season. They should be ashamed of themselves for that schedule and beating up on those teams.
Silsbee by 3 touchdowns. The Tigers aren't great, but they'll look like the New England Patriots compared to everything else the Raiders have seen this year.

Agreed.  Take Duncanville last year, the 6A champ.   Not only did they get (legally) Micah Peavy when they hired his dad as coach (which has long been a potential benefit when hiring a coach whose kid is a stud) but they pick up Jahmius Ramsey (now at Texas Tech) after the school year started.   In fact, if I’m not mistaken, Duncanville was the third school Ramsey was enrolled in last year, and the one at which he settled.  You aren’t off calling them super teams.  And despite having similar enrollments, you can’t compete when teams are forming with the talent base of a Houston or DFW.

Super teams are the future, I guess. Between Yates and Faith Family. I'm sure more will pop up.
Yes I realize a lot of teams (including Silsbee) gets a transfer here and there, but this is ridiculous.

Yeah he's already 6`4 and 200 + pounds as a freshman. Would like to see him shoot up to at least 6`6.
Got plenty of time to grow. Can't wait for him to terrorize district for the next few years.

Him and Thomas alone are two 6`4  players Silsbee will have. Should have a few more guys in the 6`0 - 6`2 range. Don't know where people get Silsbee won't have any size next year from.

Silsbee has talented kids on the way, but I do think inexperience will keep them from making it to state. Jones and Baltrip should make an impact. Elam may get moved up to varsity or at least JV, I don't know. Hope he shoots up in height just a bit over the summer.
No state next year, but the not-so-distant future for the Tigers is very bright

PA Lincoln is the main reason Silsbee didn't get a ring back in the day. They were the better team more often than not. Silsbee could have been the second best team in the state and not made it out of region because the Bumblebees were doing their thing back then. They finally started getting the best of Lincoln towards the end of that schools lifespan.
I was a little too young to have seen Darrel MacArthur play. I started going to games shortly after that and remember his brother Andrew playing. I think I may have been 10 years old back then.
 

It's apples and oranges comparing what public and private schools can get away with.
Calvin Tyler came from Ozen and helped Silsbee with depth at the point guard position during their first title run. 
That, however, is a far cry from some teams trying to emulate the Golden State Warriors in high school. 
 

As has been mentioned before in this thread, the entire Cedar Hill coaching staff moved to FF. The coaches themselves stated the goal was to win a championship.
You can bet another FF will pop up if/when they win.
I guess buying state titles will be the new way to do things in the future.

Silsbee will be back great coach and if the coming players want the success they will follow. Remember Yates whole community was spoiled by the National champs Lions team that was probably 20 points better than these teams. So Silsbee hold your head up you will get back just follow the system in place Yates did and they are going back.

Cedar Hill Trinity Christian is Deion's school. They had a kid all the way from Massachusetts playing on their football team.
Faith Family should have to play in 6A, just like Strake Jesuit does.

Not sure where Braylon would play unless he left the area and went to an academy type school.
People seem to forget Silsbee was a game away from going to state before Braylon, Jordyn or Devon were on the team. Lost to a loaded Sterling squad.
Whatever happens, Tiger basketball will be fine in the long run.

Congrats to Silsbee on their season I know the end result isnt what you guys wanted but you accomplished impossible feats over the last 4 yrs. Coming in as freshman and leading from the jump is hard to do in any classification. You guys have nothing to hang your heads about. I felt like Yates this year was a better overall team than last year. They didn thave to rely on 2 ppl to get everything done this year it was more balanced and they were humgry & relentless. Silsbee fans & players may have taken this team too lightly because some of the comments I read were mind boggling. I dont care who you play you have to respect your opponent because you can be beat on any given day. It was obvious Silsbee got tired later in the game and thats a rare occurrence but it happens to the best. Yates did a great job at forcing the tempo and then pulling the rug & slowing it down making Silsbee defend in the half court.  If Silsbee had one glaring weakness this year i don’t they played defense like they did in the past years.  Anyways congrats to those kids and may you be blessed with much success as you move forward!!!! 

Faith Family shouldn't even be in the UIL. If they do win expect them to forfeit just like Madison. Those kids are from all over Dallas. Not just Oak Cliff.

Not sure if Silsbee would have matched up with Faith Family very well, if I'm being honest. They look look like one of those big 6a schools playing in 4a.

To put it simply, Silsbee got tired. Lions wore the Tigers down. Up tempo finally got the best of Silsbee. Plus, Coach Wise did exactly what he needed to do when he got that lead in the 4th. Spread Silsbee out and force them to foul. Yates was money at the line.

First of all, Congrats to Silsbee players & Coaching Staff. Today’s Basketball doesn’t impress me, but I’m impressed by how Silsbee has maintained Dominance in this Region. What you guys have accomplished over the past few years is phenomenal. Being a PA Lincoln Alum, I can attest to what these kids have experienced over the years; the highs & lows. We were #1 Team & lost in State Semis my Senior yr , Dallas Lincoln won it All. I relieve that disappointment every year around this time. What gets me through is knowing that we accomplished a lot, continued our Legacy, built lasting friendships & memories, put the State of Texas on notice, but most of All, we did it the right way by being raised in PA. Just like the kids of Silsbee. It’s not hard to form a good Team when you have Millions to choose from. I’m blown away that you guys maintained Elite Status consistently being from a Town the size of Silsbee. Hold your head High and it’s OK to cry. Let me tell you it bothers me to this day because I’m such a competitor, just as you guys are. You can always tell when you’re doing something Great, people talk about you & Hate to see you WIN. Silsbee must have had plenty of people talking & definitely had lots of Haters because All y’all did was WIN!!! Enjoy Spring Break & get back in the gym. God Bless
