Any rational person knows this statement is untrue, but did you know it at the time? Did you utter the statement as a means to deceive? I'm going to guess that it wasn't a lie. I think it was meant to deceive yourself, that is, internally rationalize your own flawed thought process. Did you know at the time you wrote the statement it was untrue. Of course you did.
