Right along the Grand Parkway is where the growth is

Some of it.  Every high school in CISD (except The Woodlands schools College Park and TWHS)  especially the current Oak Ridge attendance zone area, are growing.  Much of the Oak Ridge growth is along the Grand Parkway, but it is also back behind old Oak Ridge and the Imperial Oaks neighborhood.  Conroe HS will be one of the fastest growing areas over the next  decade.  I also expect Caney Creek to move up to 6A very soon.  It won't be 2018, but probably 2020.  The next new HS will likely be in the current Conroe HS attendance zone.  The Woodlands HS's are essentially hemmed in now.  There will be some growth as a few undeveloped areas get developed, but The Woodlands is essentially finished growing.

  2. A piece of trivia.....And possibly very good news for future BWB teams.

The Woodlands has one of the best JV 1 teams over the last several.  That is in part due to lots of talent that plays on JV, that would play on most varsity teams.  Huge school, huge program, makes sense.  They don't loose.  In fact JV 1 last lost a game in 2012 (if memory serves me correctly).  They've played Katy JV 1 every year in that period, along with some other very good programs.  BWB beat them last week.  Fans should feel very very good about future prospects.

When you have a bruising RB that keeps busting big runs up the middle, and West Brook never goes from a 3/4 scheme, to a 6 man front to stop the run, that's definitely coaching. The coaches had these kids set up to lose. Peevy was on the sidelines with no headset on, with his head looking at the ground, pacing the sidelines with his hands in his pocket. Now, who does that? I've never seen this type of coaching, before. The lack of preparation, and the lack of in game adjustments, proves that this staff cannot compete with the elite of 6A. They didn't give those kids an opportunity to win. It's a disgrace, and we expect better. I mean, how do you go on the road, one year, and score 70 points on a team, and win, to losing to the same team, at home, and only score 7? I don't get it. Lufkin was better prepared, and better coached. Period. They werent the better team.

Look how well BWB did vs The Woodlands.  They did much better than last year.  So last year against their two best district foes they played better than expected one game and worse than expected one game.  This year BWB played better against The Woodlands than last year and worse against Lufkin than last year.  I don't see the problem.  Should adjustment have been made against Lufkin, yes.  Did they out play The Woodlands in the first half this year, yes.  I think there is a really good chance BWB will progress further in the playoffs this year.  I like a lot of things about the team.

I think we're jumping the gun...  We all knew coming into this stretch of games that these were the hardest teams on West Brook's schedule.  We knew It would be Lufkin and The Woodlands.  They took a loss last week and took one last night.  They played excellent football leading up to this game and the wheels came off this game.  it happens.  But I like WB coaching and I like that talent that's on the field.  Just seems that some have been waiting for a game like this to fly in and start pointing fingers about coaching...

West Brook will win the rest of their games on the or schedule and make a nice showing in the playoffs...  Then when they lose, the same detractors will show up again...

You are 100% correct.  BWB is a very good team.  Much better than most 6A teams.  Except for Katy, they have given TWHS the best game of the year.  I was more impressed when playing BWB than Lufkin.  I am surprised by the loss and especially the scope of the loss.  BWB had one horrible game last season and in the end had a great year.  The same will happen this year.  As we learned from last season, one bad game does not a season make.  I expect BWB to win out and so will Lufkin.  Oak Ridge is capable of an upset over either, the three teams are very similar.  But, after seeing and playing all three, I think OR will lose to both Lufkin and BWB.

Good luck the rest of the way and into the playoffs. We will be rooting for you in the playoffs.

Great game for both teams last night. WB has improved by leaps and bounds. A potential playoff run is possible for WB this year. The dynamic L'Ravien Elia is without a doubt one of the best if not the best player in SETX. He will be a force on Saturdays for sure. Last night, however, belonged to to TW #7. MLB Jackson Shearer. It was hard to find a play he was NOT involved in. Shearer was the difference for TW. Just wicked good.

When The Woodlands beat Katy last year, Jackson Shearer was one of the main reasons.  He caught RB Glass in the backfield before he got going multiple times.

Like I said WB is still a 2nd Tier 6A team and you can't make mistakes like that against tier 1 teams and expect to win, but one thing I will say, WB is on its way to being very competitive in these 6A playoffs, They played very physical and fast, which I hadn't seen in a long time in the westend and could have very well blown this game open if it weren't for some bone head penalties and killer T.O, , but that's football and I'm Sure The woodlands feel the same about some calls they didn't get ..

Yes, as always, there were bad calls going both ways.  WB did seem to get more penalties, but TWHS is a more disciplined team.  They typically do not get as many penalties.  I was really really impressed with Elia.  Personally that is the most impressive performance I've seen for a dual threat qb since I saw Braylon Addison with Hightower.  He is probably too small at least now for the top D1 programs.  But, he plays well enough in my opinion to get D1 offers.

The Woodlands is definitely not where they were at this time last season.  But, WB is well ahead of where they were.  I think WB will beat Lufkin, again.  Every team has injuries.  The Woodlands was very fortunate last season with few injuries to key players.  That is not the case this season.  We started the season with three track athletes with 6A gold medals at the state meet.  None of them played last night.  Both receivers were out, one has been out all season.  And our one shutdown speedster CB is out for the season as well.  Both number one and number two qb did not play last night.  Johnson the qb was third string to start the season.  His first varsity game was last week with Lufkin.  Hopefully, the Highlanders will heal soon.  But, at the moment this Highlander team is not capable of a deep playoff run.

This CP team was horrible.  Let's see them play Lufkin and TW to see if they're a real deal.

CP is not very good this year.  The biggest surprise of their season was the victory over a good Deer Park team.  They are very very young.  But the good news for CP is that they have had a long overdue coaching change.  The new coach Lonnie Madison came over from Klein Collins, where he was responsible for their terrific defense.  Good things will happen in the next few seasons at CP.  I don't expect them to make the playoffs this season.

  8. The Woodlands defense is very good this year.  Lufkin was able to move the ball to keep the game tight in the first half.  But, The Highlanders shut them down completely in the second half.  They probably have even better team speed than last season.  What they lack is experience and a dominant pass rusher.  That being said the front seven is still very good, even with less experience than the team last season.  The Highlanders have good depth in the front seven and substitute frequently without much downgrade.  On offense the receivers are again the main weapon.  They are fast and all of them have very good hands.  Kesean Carter #6 is the defending 100 meter 6A champion.  The key to slowing them is getting pressure on the qb.  RB is adequate, but won't scare anyone.  Against Lufkin, TWHS was without the #1 or #2 qb, but the #3 filled in nicely,  I do not know the status of the qb's for the BWB game.

Wouldn't mind attending the next weeks woodlands game

Unfortunately, the game is on Thursday.  I drove 105 to Beaumont last season.  The drive was not too bad or too busy with traffic.  For anyone wishing to attend that is the route I would suggest.  I loved the BWB stadium and experience by the way.  I hope to see a big BWB crowd.  Goode Company just opened a BBQ and Mexican Kitchen up the road on Research Forest.  It's less than one mile from the stadium.  There is also just about anything else you would like to eat nearby.

Safe Travels BWB team and fans.

Have you been in a locker room.  Even if they aren't showering, you have to totally undress to put on a jock strap.  Even at that, especially if it's illegal, a camera shouldn't be in a locker room.  All juveniles should be protected completely!  Sure girls may be more vulnerable but in all these student/teacher inappropriate relationships that you hear of it seems like more boys are involved. And anyone's privacy in a locker room/ changing area should be as well. Now do I think the Coach had any alterior motives, no but I will say this I recently discovered someone ,that I never in my life would have thought, is a registered sex offender.

Yes, of course I've been in many locker rooms.  I don't condone naked pictures of any student.  More care IS required for girls and I don't think a crime was committed in this case.  Especially if intent is an important element.  As to registered offenders, most of the time it's important, but don't assume all of those cases have merit.  Cases have happened where a person urinates in a public place and is required for a lifetime to register as a sex offender.  That isn't the case most of the time, but it happens.

I am a parent of one child a female, but I don't feel that should be true at all.  Granted I want maximum care for my daughter but I feel that should be the case far any juvenile.

Bare chested boys/men are not considered indecent.  I still say of course we have to use more care for girls.  Privacy is important, and blatant violations are the same for both.   I don't see that here.

I have one son and two daughters.

For those who have a hard time understanding and others who agree with ANYTHING, installing hidden cameras where boys are undressing and dressing is not right.  I bet your think differently if the guy installed hidden cameras in the girl's locker room.

Think about it, of course we would.  There is a difference between the boys and girls, political correctness be damned.  It is clear the intent of the coach was to protect his players.  Much more care would have to be used if this involved girls and I for one get that.

One coach was run off for subparagraph performances from a school from a neighboring school district and the other is only here because he couldn't get a job at the school he graduated years ago and when the old coach retires, he STILL won't get the job.  So who cares what they say. I would say they didn't have to take the job, but they probably had one option at that time.

...but that ain't non of my business.

I've mostly just read what's been said here as I'm a newbie on this board and don't live near most of the schools discussed.  But, for someone who supports the district, this in awful thing to say about two coaches trying to do their best to provide a great learning environment to their young charges, teach them life lessons and in the process help them win a few games.  Coaches aren't perfect people, but mostly they try to do their best and their personal life should be out of bounds.

Cant say i saw it coming, not after the first 4 years, and still couldnt believe with those offense play calls, that the Bruins would be in this spot. So as i sit here and eat crow, while watching this young QB lead his team, man, anything is possible. Go Bruins!!!

Defense will need a few stops

    Brook 56

    Westfield 48

I hope you are correct and my wife is correct about me being an idiot.

Longview is bigger and more physical on the offensive line than Westfield. They are bigger than the Woodz too. So, if they could beat them...........I agree though that Wf should be the favorites. I just wouldn't say Wb couldn't handle them for that reason. Y'all could be right about the WB offense vs the Westfield defense. The WF defense has a lot of size and speed. More size on the line than The Woodz if I remember correctly and probably more speed too. That's why I think WF may win. That Westfield defense should give them several problems, IF they tackle well..

We'll see, I know I'll be cheering on West Brook.

Interesting...  because Humble's 'falling off' is synonymous to the Rise of Atascocita and Summer Creek's talent wave and success, whereas  the other humble schools haven't been that good.  Kingwood park, hit and miss.  Kingwood, Naaah...

I think Summer Creek will end up in the same position as Atascocita.  They are side by side and have similar demographics.  But, they are much further away from program success than Atascocita and in my opinion.  Another difference is Stump.  I'm a huge fan of his just for what he has done at Atascocita.

  17. 17 hours ago, BMTSoulja1 said:

Yea they do..  Atascocita and Summer Creek get almost all of the City's really good talent..

Don't agree with this at all.  Atascocita has plenty of talent, some of the best in the area.  But, several other teams do too.  I don't see the same thing yet at Summer Creek.  They had a good run in 4A/5A, but have mostly been crushed by bigger, faster and deeper quality 6A teams.

  18. On 11/19/2016 at 3:35 PM, BMTSoulja1 said:

But Stump was the coach that had a Then Young Christine Michael (whose in the NFL now) who on 4th  and 3 in a playoff game, passed the ball instead of handing off to Michael just to satisfy his arrogance...  (true story).

    Anywho...

I don't know about Stump in the playoffs at Brook, but I have seen what he has done at Atascocita and have to applaud.  They had a fantastic playoff run last season.  They are not as good this season and I don't expect as much.  But, leading up to last season I used to look at all the obvious talent on the Atascocita team and wonder why they weren't a major contender.  Then Stump arrived and now they are.

Westfield is a physical team and WB doesn't do physical.  WF by a lot........

In my opinion, you have this exactly right.  As I've said WB has surprised me this season several times, so I won't rule them out.  But, Westfield usually has one of the better O and D lines in GHA.  They're team is big and fast at the skill positions.   They will remind you of The Woodlands in size.  While I think West Brook would play The Woodlands better now and I don't think WF is as good this season, I still don't like this match-up for WB.  I think they are one of the few teams capable of slowing WB's offense and with the WB defense that is a very bad thing.  On the other hand.  If I have underestimated WF's ability to slow WB's offense, we could see another WB upset.
