I understand and agree with everything you said. I don't know what the timber companies are doing as of late, but according to the TPWD Biologist on our lease in West Texas there is a lot of ranchers that were looking for hunters this past season. The economy caused a lot of people to drop leases. Hopefully the timber companies will hold steady and avoid the greed or like you said the poaching problem they have now will be nothing like it can get. I don't know what they are getting now but heard a few years ago they were increasing more than usual each year because they thought they could get more in line with the price per acre that the rest of the state is getting.

Believe me I have seen many deer less than 13" spread that was mature in South and West Texas. But, its the best the state can do to protect young bucks, which happens to be why East Texas is so far behind rest of the state. Years and years of killing 2.5 year old bucks. There are much better management plans but it is better than nothing and East Texas should see improvement, if the game Wardens can enforce it effectively. Enforcing any law in east Texas is a challenge. Good luck though, I will continue my 6 hour drive. Pressure is a problem in East Texas also. Too many hunters on most places for acreage. That is why East Texas deer are so fast to go nocturnal. I hunt 5 people on 3000 acres on my South Texas place and 4 on 2000 in West Texas.

pngfan1, good thing you couldn't advance a fumble back then because Permian recovered one and ran it back for a TD with no time on the clock. in today's game, French would have lost.
soulja, I was 32 in '85.
Yes, I do remember that play. We actually had that same French team beat late in the game. They scored and went up 20 -14 with a minute and half left, but we could not score after we got the ball back. We lost seven starters in that game(five for the season). It went on to be a bad year for us from that point on. But French got better every week and peaked at the right time. -
I believe most of our district has a good bit returning except Vidor. Should be another interesting year.

Barbers Hill......
If they were successful (which I think they were), why then are they getting rid of their coach???
I would call them successful also. They were much better than their record. I know its either a "w" or "L" but they were a few points away from having a much better record. Thay lost some tight ones. As far as why they would get rid of their coach, I won't touch. Don't know much about the situation. A lot of folks said because we won district two years ago we had no reason to replace Burnett. Well enough said. -
Most exciting was Central.
Best showing for the Indians was a very dominant win against a very good Vidor team. -

Barbers Hill is 2 for 2 (one a tie!)
Tie? that sucks. Must have been waaaay back in the day. Before penetrations, first downs, and all the other tie breakers before overtime.
Yep...'71
They still had ties in 1985. Ask Soulja. ::)

In 1984 (1985 graduating class) French tied Odessa Permian. That was a very good game. -
Academics is very importanat to Coach Faircloth. I'm not surprised.
-
Very deserving, we are thrilled to have him.

1977 Indians went undefeated was one of top ranked in country and lost to Plano in finals.

Stump did in fact call back to PNG Supt. about the job after the application deadline. It worked out for the best, I would not trade ya'll.

We've got some good ones coming back. Padia who played on kickoff teams and is listed only as RB would be a good one to move to the defense(maybe LB). He was first one to ball carrier 90 % of time on kick offs. He's a good athlete. He also recovered the pooch kick against Crosby and the on side kick in the playoffs. He gets to the ball. -

I know most of you would expect me to say Harmon (and he would be a close second), but I think the Benoit/Kerr duo will be a greater loss. We still have an offensive leader in Doty, but lossing those guys on defense, both two year starters at the ILB spots, means finding a new leader on that side of the ball.
Good point, but we have some good potential replacements to reload with. Does Jake Davis play inside or outside LB. I think Larry Padia might make a good LB( he listed as RB now). As far as Harmon, he will be missed even though Chase Bertrand will be a great back. He is a completely different style back, a lot more break away speed but not near as strong. With the O line back our RB's will have a big advantage. -

Hon-Mention Linebacker Quinton Crow is a former PNG guy, if someone has not noticed. He now plays for Lake Travis.
Yes he is and has a younger brother who I believe is a sophomore and is a good athlete. -
Not surprising. Looking for big thing from Earl Thomas as well.

PNG: Westbrook
PAM
Friendswood, Dayton, Brenham, WOS.
Not in any particular order, but would be a great non-district schedule and a great warm up for district.
Great chance with that schedule that we wouldn't enter district undefeated like this year but would br much better prepared come playoff time. I like that schedule, make it is a tough one. You get better by playing people better than you. -
Hard to call there are some big ones out there. I feel before TJ dissolved it was as big a rivalry game for PNG as Nederland if not bigger. During the 60's,70's, and part of the 80's at least. Both were rivals but the TJ game was huge for us for a while.
Let's both bring back a title for region 3...your game is gonna be harder than yours, but you gotta believe. Good luck, Brenham is behind you. LT's weakness is their run defense.
Good luck to both you! -

Funny how those obnoxious FWood fans seemed to dissapear!!!
txcanes you may not have been one of them but...Go back and look at all the "really classy" dribble that came from FW durring the past several weeks. And you mentioned that the BC fans should not be posting on a game they were not involved in, how about the many, many FW fans posting crap on PNG! Double standard from Stang fans???

same story different season and sport.Pretty predictable behavior. But, I hope and it only represents a few just like any other school. -
This is the coaches picks, I put more stake in those than some of the others.
-
Its not going to snow in our Gym.

First class all the way, I know a couple of brothers who moved there from PNG who are in the program. Two good athletes, wish we still had em here.
