  1. Would love to hear the “why”. Accepted the job less than a month ago. Had he even started at Carlisle yet?
  2. Was at several of the playoff games that year. Coldspring had it all that year. They were huge in the lines, had great backs, and skill kids. Shoulda beat Seay in the semi’s at the Dome! Have great memories of Coach Monahan and Coach Sykes. Anthony Washington was a man among boys. Guy was amazing. I heard the LaMarque coach say that year that he might have been the best player they played all year.
  3. If they wanna compete in the UIL make them compete against 6A schools. Nothing fair about them playing 4A schools. It’s a joke. 657 kids isn’t 657 kids from La Vega, Sinton, Carthage, Stephenville, or any other 4A school. When you cherry pick your enrollment, and roster, you shouldn’t be on the same court as those teams.
  4. Trahan is building a really good staff through his past connections. Just hired the HC/AD from Mount Vernon who had 2 successful years there. They were GA’s together at Baylor. Lee/Legacy has hired some solid guys in the past that couldn’t turn it around. Can Trahan get the kids to buy in and change the culture? I hope both Tyler new hires turn those programs around.
  5. Don’t know any great coaches who didn’t have a good staff and good cast of coaches around them. They better be able to not only coach kids up, and get them to play above their talent level, but they better be a good judge of coaching talent!
  6. Jeff Parks, one of my favorites. Dude is something else!!
  7. You’re perversion with state title or bust is sickening, and quite honestly, a very stupid take. We all know this. Joesph lost the title, so don’t that make him a failure? Can’t wait to see your take if they go 11-2 or 10-3 and fall short of the title game.
  8. Any Red Bryant’s, Jorrie Adam’s, or SirVincent Rodgers coming up? Pretty amazing how big those 2002-2003 Jasper teams were. I still say Jorrie Adam’s was the most impressive looking kid I’ve ever seen on a football field.
  9. How many guys on staff are leftovers from WT’s days besides Drew? Lots of good coaches have left over the past several years.
  10. Trahan was a heckuva player. Did dad was a heckuva high school coach. Hope he has lots of success in Tyler. That place is a gold mine for talent, but will have to change the culture.
  11. Trahan is a helluva coach. Coaches hard and the kids love him. Won’t be an overhaul like some want, but he would be a solid choice. Hope he gets a fair chance.
  12. The grass ain’t always greener. I hope they don’t find out, but have a feeling they may.
  13. 6 more years of coming up short and Joseph will be in the unemployment line.
  14. The amount of ignorance that believes a coach should be able to lead Vidor to a state title in 7 years or be fired is uncomprehencible.
  15. San Antonio would be great. Indoor facility with plenty of places to stay. Look at the last 5-10 years and the participants of the state title games. Outside of Westlake, and the smaller classes, there won’t really be a home field advantage, like Dallas is. It’s a shame the Austin area don’t have an indoor facility. Would be great location, like the rest of the sports.
  16. Purcell was never a head coach that won state. He was either an assistant, or an AD. Irregardless, 12 rings is impressive in any capacity, but he was not the head guy in charge.
  17. I don’t share the sentiment that you have any bias or favor one region over the next. I thought Bally Sports coverage went way over board on the SOC and Duncanville hype. They didn’t spend that time on PNG or GPNS. It seemed that’s pretty much all they cared about. From the pregame segments, to the guys/gals perched above the field. It was a love fest. But that comes from the producers, I would guess.
  18. That’s unfortunate. He will make a great player wherever he goes. I thought he was no-racial until yesterday. Not that it matters, the kid is a great player regardless of race.
  19. We can agree to disagree on lots of things, including what PNG’s mascot should be, but you do a helluva job covering Texas High School football. As always, thank you and the rest of the guys for great coverage year round.
  20. Are you serious? I guess it don’t surprise me though. What about 400# offensive linemen that don’t wear a belt, and you see they’re a&$ crack all game long?! I don’t like looking at that! Can they focus on their program and not worry about another teams mascot.
  21. That kid is a great football player. Unfathomable that he don’t hold better offers. To be playing out of position, against a defense like that, with no receiving threat!! What he did was a pretty amazing feat under the circumstances.
  22. The UIL ruled a stud sophomore WR from North Shore ineligible. They won’t touch those south Dallas schools for some reason.
