I wouldn't call going into overtime and winning by three getting smoked but if it suits your narrative then ok, just remember those studs we were missing will be playing. Be for real though dude, you lost by 5 tds at home and just had to go to overtime to beat a bad Nederland team. A Nederland team that lost to 2-3 Dayton and was shut out 42-0 by WOS. Jim Holley would do the same thing to Vidor Westeberg did. Nobody wants to play y'all because you suck and are irrelevant, the only reason BH put y'all on the schedule was because they needed an easy win for the new head coach to start his program off and that's exactly what happened.
Vidor gets crap games because your program is a cellar dweller and you run an antiquated system that doesn't prepare anybody for anything besides getting their knees cut all the time. Do you honestly think the reason the best non-district game you can get is Channelview because somebody is scared to line up with y'all? You play 3A, 4A and out of state schools because none of the other good teams in the state respect your program enough to think it's worth their while.
I don't have to ask our school board anything, maybe you should ask yours to provide a playing surface that won't require a grown up Easter egg hunt for their children's shoes though.

okay guys, lets come down to reality. couple of factors. we played a undermanned, undersized, not many true football players/athletes, it was a revenge game...PLAYED IN THE HEAT!! well half of it. this will not be the case friday. as much as i can't stand nederland and neumann, they still deserve some respect. again we are still soft up the gut. if nederland pound us, they will get some td's set up by special teams.

The thing that scares me about Nederland (and PAM better watch out for it) is that Neumann might be the best in the area for using tough losses to strengthen his team. Vidor won the game on Friday, but it in some ways it is a "victory" (using the word lightly) for Nederland because they have had to scratch it out in a very, very tough loss. They will face PAM as a more mature, tough, battle-tested team than last week, and that will show throughout the rest of the season. I don't think Nederland beats Memorial, but expect an evolved Nederland team to use the Vidor loss in an incredible way to be better down the stretch. Nederland is like a monster that gets stronger the more you hit it. I almost wish Nederland had had an easy victory over Vidor, or had been blown out by Vidor, because this close fight gives them experience that will pay dividends down the road, at least through the regular season.

Slightly off-topic, but not really: Can someone please teach Harold Mann how to pronounce "Quirante"? While we're at it, "Celaya", not "Celalya".

I wish everyone realized how stupid they sound when they say (fill in the blank's) referees are here.  All of the crews are from a wide area and the coaches can veto a crew they don't want.  Do you really think that Jeff Matthews would allow a "Nederland" crew to call the game?

Not to dog on McZeal, because despite it all he is a very important part of the PNG team, but man, I wish he had a little more Jayce Nelson/Kaleb Sparks/Jeremiah Rose/Spencer Deron/Caisen Sullivan etc in him. Those guys would catch anything in their zip code and kill themselves to get it done. I wish McZeal showed a little more fire. Again, he is a fantastic player and athlete, but I wish he was more reliable as a receiver. I think I agree with Broschon that he might be more effective at TE. Open up the middle for us for sure.

Same argument Vidor makes almost every year,  smh.  All returning starters are not created equal.  Returning starters from a "D" that gave up 42 pts vs PNG and 51 vs  Nederland isn't the same as returning starters that held them down under 25 or less.

Where is the evidence that Lumberton has a "decent" D? Lumberton has played one full game against a school with less than 600 kids (and isn't WO-S), a school that is a perennial bottom feeder in its own classification. PNG already has shown the ability to make stops against good backs when it matters, so I don't know what indications exist that PNG won't stop Lumberton's run game. There isn't a Calvin Tyler playing for Lumberton, and even if there was, we would be okay. Lumberton may be better than recent years -- Maybe even better than last year. But Lumberton is unproven, and history is not on its side (Lumberton is 1-16 against PNG all time, and that one victory was in a year where PNG went 3-6).
Think about that-- At Lumberton's best (2008), they managed to beat one of PNG's worst by a mere seven points.
Statistics don't win games, but they are at least an interesting indicator of potential future outcomes. In the series, PNG has outscored Lumberton 656-238. PNG averages 38.6 ppg against Lumberton. Lumberton averages 14. Last year, when Lumberton finally looked like it might be turning a corner, PNG scored easily and often.
Lumberton will have to stop PNG's QB, running back, receivers, and o-line, all of whom have demonstrable ability to produce. Lumberton also has to somehow overpower a PNG defensive line that has been fairly successful against much faster backs than what Lumberton has waiting in the stables. I'll admit, I haven't seen Lumberton play, but I did get a chance to see PNG against WO-S in August (scrimmage) -- PNG can hang with the run.
It may be a good game -- It might also be incredibly boring.

    Thanks for the history lesson.
The "decent d" reference was because we have 9 returning starters, so basically the same defense that put a stop to Vidor's infamous run game last year, and we did the same thing that yall did to Calvin Tyler last year, except he played with a dual threat qb that was actually utilized. Everyone on this site knows that the play calling from Silsbee was horrible that night, if they would have let Jones run/throw more it may have been a much closer game.
Now, you are 100% correct that we do not have Calvin Tyler running out of the back field. But when he puts 180 yards on yall with a line that has been labeled as "soft" by many people, then ill take our chances with a very physical offensive line... Or can I say that since we haven't played a game yet?
I've seen both teams scrimmage, and ive been both teams against a very weak opponent. Do I believe that we can win? Certainly. Will it happen? Nobody knows till Friday night.
