As good as most of these are, none come close to MCM.

Rumor has it, Coach Barrow and team will hold a midnight “practice” to install sprinklers on turf field. Will run all four quarters. Barrow heard muttering, “It worked on Roschon. It worked on Roschon!”

And we can’t forget Vidor vs Nederland. Not only the most intense rivalry in Texas, but the greatest love story of all time.

The Silsbee-West Orange-Jasper triangle has some of the great local rivalries.

I’m surprised they picked it so close. PAM should be a 14 point advantage on paper.
No way - This is going to be a one-score game.

Another week and another thread you have folks with these stale lame jokes. Like I said before, keep it up. Because I know on a normal year of Beaumont football, at least one of our teams would take your team behind the woodshed. Those days will happen more sooner than you think. Then I’ll revisit these little jokes.
It cycles. Something will change and one or both of the Beaumont schools will get better. The sad thing is Beaumont Central used to take the locals schools behind the woodshed all the time. Even Ozen got its licks in sometimes. It’s weird that combining them made them worse. And we all know Westbrook can be better than they are. The pendulum will swing one of these days and we’ll be talking about another Westbrook playoff run. But, Beaumont ISD administrators needs to get off their self-serving, myopic, arrogant butts and hire a real coaching staff, not just some guy who used to coach in Beaumont who everyone is friends with.

Yep, very accurate description…lol! People gonna have their legs all up on your back so no need to bring stadium seats 🥴
I understand stadium seats, but some people want to bring their whole living room. They take up so much space. I don’t think they should be allowed for this game. It’s going to be standing room only; leave your throne at home.

Dumb comment. Stop watching the news. Everyone has to abide by rules and believe it or not being black doesn’t give you a pass. If you want the to enroll in a school that lets you do whatever you want your free to do so. Don’t come to BH flashing the race card because you don’t get your way because all have to abide. Stop being dumb people the news is an outlet for the stupid.
really didn’t want to go there and keep this football, but I only can handle so much stupidity.
The conversation is already over.

I don’t care about that… after the first young man they harassed, all blacks should have pulled out. As far as the team, say what u want, that teams plays hard. I won’t be shocked if PAM list
Everyone in the school should have pulled out, over the hair thing. BH has picked the dumbest possible hill to die on, and the people need to punish them for it. All the PAM players and fans should show up at the game with outlandish, huge, multicolored wigs.

Yes and no. I think it would take away from the festivities of the game week a little but would be a cool homage to the beginnings. Ned and PNG played twice for several years after both teams started up.
That’s where I am - yes and no. I like the idea, but don’t want to dilute it

Happy 100th Anniversary Nederland!
Speaking of anniversaries: 2025 will be the 100th year of PNG and Nederland playing. That year, we played twice. A piece of me thinks it would be cool if we played twice in 2025 (preseason and regular) as a part of commemorating the century mark.

Adams should be used the same way he was last year if he comes back...PN-G is more dynamic with the current QB IMO
Agreed. I think he was wasted at QB.

Is PNG’s QB out for the year?
There’s been rumors he could be out until MCM or by the playoffs. But at this point, when he comes back I wouldn’t be surprised if the new Qb stays at qb and we start plugging the old qb in at his old utility player role (using him as qb, wildcat qb, wide receiver, and runningback). That’s just my thought though. I don’t know how the coaches will decide to use him. I’d even rotate him in as safety sometimes. He’s the best athlete among all our skilled positions, so I frankly think he was wasted as full-time qb. He’s too good not to use all over the field, especially now that we have developed the new Qb to where he is.

On paper, this one should be no contest, (just like last season). But Ned has many returning starters, while PNG has a few. PNG's QB is new, but he's played Ned before.
The biggest factor may end up being the officiating. From what I hear, that's what got Ned past Dayton. BTW, where will the Ref crew be from for this year's game?
Refs have been atrocious. They stole a touchdown on a pick 6 from FBM against Nederland. No way that was roughing the passer. I hope we don’t have that crew.

PNG will win by about 21. Nederland’s defense and special teams are simply poor
Nederland being below 50% on extra points could bite them in the butt (like it did against FBM). In a series littered with one, two, and three-point margins, you can’t afford to miss extra points.
-
Weather could also be an issue. Nederland needs chaos and unpredictability, and rain could help them achieve that.

Just based on the numbers, this game should be a bench-clearing shutout for PNG. I expect the game to be similar to the Willow Ridge game, however, for the observers, with pretty much plain vanilla play calling. Don't ever take any high school game for granted, but it would be handy if SF runs similar defense and offense as Nederland for us.
They run a lot. I’m not sure if that’s by design or if their passing game is just bad, but their passing game is also not anything to write home about. They moved the ball against Nederland (only game I watched them live) for a while, but they don’t have much firepower, and that was in a game I didn’t think Nederland played well. There was very little at all impressive about Santa Fe in that game. Their uniforms look good - That’s one positive. Almost no speed, small, passive. I honestly don’t see a path to them scoring against our starters. If Nederland had played on defense the way they played against FBM for three quarters, Santa Fe wouldn’t have scored at all.
I’m ok with vanilla play calling in this game. Something I like about this coaching staff is they use their opportunities to hammer fundamentals. We could have scored 60 on Beaumont United, but what does the team learn from that? If you’re lighting up the scoreboard, you’re probably not doing plays that challenge your weaknesses. If I had my way, PNG would use the game to get the Qb and the receivers more passing reps, because that’s where we have less experience.

With or without the MCM magic, Nederland will have a hard time containing #33 for PNG. Ned’s problem has been the defense. In that light, I don’t see them containing #22 for TC either. But, one can’t dismiss PNG’s defense. They are tough because they are well coached! So, I see 1-2 over the next three weeks.
I’ll leave PNG #33 to the side right now because it’s all been said. But TC’s #22 is a monster. Heavier and taller than most running backs, and faster than he looks. It takes two or three guys to bring him down most of the time.
Ned’s defense took a step forward against FB Marshall. And, Tezino and Thomas have serious speed. Those are the biggest pluses for Nederland. And, Sunday has guts and wheels. That’s not nothing.
For MCM, my gut says PNG wins. The defense isn’t a fluke - It’s crazy consistent and has shown very few gaps. And the offense is pushing people around.
But, it’s MCM (you only have to go one year back to when PNG barely beat a Nederland team that is significantly worse than this year) and Nederland IS getting better, despite all the frustrating mistakes, and I think Nederland is good enough to take advantage of any wild weirdness MCM brings. On paper, PNg is better across the board, but the game is played on the field. So, we’ll just have to play the game. If I was betting, I’d say PNG by 10.
I’m more confident predicting Texas City because that game won’t have the same X-factor MCM does - based on total body of work and coaching, TC has every advantage against Nederland. I don’t think that game will be close, no matter what happens the week before.
