The question for this year's team is who is the x-factor you could count on Shea Adams for those short yardage situations the question is who's that guy this year..Indians will be fine in the run game with the offensive line and a guy that's the 2nd coming of Justin Eicher
I agree - Shae Adams is going to be very hard to replace. Nerves of steel. We’re going to need to find someone with his ability to create mismatches and execute clutch plays.

The RB corps might be stronger overall than last year. A true “whoever has the ball can break a big one” situation. It will be hard to replace Nyugen, for sure - I don’t know if we’ve ever had an RB who read the play so well. But I think we’ll be faster this year, so that opens up more runs to the outside.
I’m just hoping we don’t drink the rat poison on all the pre-season rankings and predictions. We’re not guaranteed anything, and the odds of making it back to state again are always extremely low. Not to mention serious potential for a drop in the seeding if we lose to Lake Creek or Huntsville (Dayton and Montgomery will be good too, and Nederland is going to a lot better than last year), setting up a second round matchup with South Oak Cliff. It’s a dangerous district, and the playoff path is vastly more difficult. All that being said - We’ve got great pieces, great coaching, great experience, and a great fan base. Sky’s the limit.

Any pictures? All I’ve seen is practice video.

Put your feelings back in your pocket. It’s gonna be ok! From what I hear this Sr. class has requested certain traditions be brought back and Rich is all about it! Not sure why those traditions were lost over the past few years!?! Glad to see the Sr.’s step up and start repairing the foundation!
Nothing wrong with what Qb1 said. If anything, he was throwing himself under the bus - He’s been qb1 for the past two years, correct? So, he’s been one of those “leaders.” Whatever Qb1 has to tell his team right now to build chemistry and purpose, I’m right behind him.
That was also a good interview from Coach Rich. I think Nederland is in good coaching hands (and I wanted them to go with the other finalist). You can already see it in the video - The conditioning seems better, there’s more excitement and energy. Of course, that has to play out in the games. But, listening to coach Rich talk, it‘s hard to not want to suit up for him. I’m always wrong on predictions, so I’ll just say I think Nederland is on the right track. Don’t be surprised if they make the playoffs, and I expect Mid-County Madness will be a classic this year. The exciting thing if you’re a Nederland fan is they don’t have that far to go - The last few seasons, it was a combination of being a little worse in a lot of ways that made them seem a lot worse. If Nederland is even 1% better at every position (including coaching) this season, the result will be scary for the rest of us.

First time at the rez will do that to a young staff
Coaches have to learn things the hard way just like the rest of us. But, it was a great game. Good crowd on both sides, loud. Had a playoff vibe. Classic.

Don't forget the OT thriller at PNG that could've been won earlier with an Xpt
I still haven’t figured that one out. Why didn’t west Orange try for any field goals or extra points in the 2nd half? Did they simply not have a kicker , or was that some kind of strategy? At least two times they got in a range where they could have put the game away, and insisted on going for it on 4th.

You knew the magazine would not be in the stores yet because you held them back in order to get more people to subscribe. Old honest Abe.
It’s a cost thing. We’re frankly lucky they even issue a paper version. Magazines across the world are barely hanging on.

Got mine in the mail this morning. I subscribed a couple weeks ago, maybe three. Pretty fast turnaround, if you ask me.

And they still picked Nederland not to make the playoffs.......
It’s a tough district with only four spots for what could be six playoff-level teams.

I subscribed. Still haven’t gotten mine. I only subscribed a couple weeks ago. I suspect that affects where I fall in the orders. Someone that subscribed six months ago might be ahead of me.

Montgomery Lake creek and Lovejoy are a couple unranked ones I think will make a big splash as the season and playoffs go on.

I thought the spring game went well! Exciting times for sure. Dogs looking better coached than in the past, tackling looked 10x better.. offense new system, a little growing pains, but with a brand system I thought they did well. The o line looked bigger yesterday than it did in the fall… one thing I was truly glad to see black and gold teams had 2 big rosters so safe to say the football kids are staying in the program and turn out quality work…. Now for the kids to buy into the summer strength and conditioning program the coaches have in store for the athletes.
I liked how Coach Rich framed it in his short interview with one of the news outlets - Getting fundamental football basics down. Not trying to razzle dazzle anyone. Starting where he needs to and moving from there. Nederland is in good hands.

Is there a livestream of this one?

Apologies if this has been noted elsewhere: Is Nederland having a spring game. If so, when?

I don’t normally follow baseball, so forgive me if I’m missing this and it’s been posted somewhere else. Anyone have the start time and location for PNG vs BH on Friday, April 26, 2024? I think it’s in BH but I don’t know anything else.

Is the injun Qb injured? Was he participating in football and baseball at the same time?
Wait, is the PNG quarterback hurt too? I haven’t gotten any news on that.

I agree.
Exactly. Of course changing realignment to make matchups more fair helps, but fairness always helps, and that shouldn’t be a knock against PNG. But, they created the fixed divisions in what, 2018? How did PnG do in that setup before Joseph showed up? Elite coaching mixed with good players and good luck, and a level playing field, yeah that helps a lot. But for anyone trying to say PNG had it easy, why don’t the other 120-ish teams in 5aD2 do just as well?

I have a question... I keep seeing the word "elite coach" and it looks like certain teams have it figured out. Is it really the coach that made the difference or the change by UIL districting with the change from separation from 5A-DI and DII??
Looking at PNG's losses the last two years... besides Oak Cliff.. the teams they lost to were beat by WEAK 5-D1 teams and out the first round.. (22-23 Marshall beat by a very weak Crosby team that finished 4th and out first round) (23-24 PA Memorial finished 3rd and out first round).
FBM made it to the 4th round in 22-23. If that’s “weak,” I don’t know what “strong” is.

And Nederland has beat teams from bigger schools plenty in the past, including PNG.
. What was the excuse all those years Neumann sent them home packing? They had a bigger enrollment then. I wouldn't count on school size dictating the size of the fight in the Dog. 😈
Nederland has had more or as many as PNG for several years at a time prior to the current swing. I don’t know about every year. We were practically equal in the 2017 count, but I could be remembering it wrong. It’s only recently PNG has trended up enrollment-wise.
Where will your team be?
