  1. Then Johnson led a team that lost most of its district games and finished in fifth place out of eight - ahead of only OF, HJ and winless BC. I'm not saying that DQs him from contention, but it certainly makes you look like a jackass when you dog someone whose team went 11-2.
  2. I'm not sure of the WR's name, but I saw him this year and he's BIG and FAST and has hands like velcro. To top that, we have a freshman QB with an arm, Beasley-esque quickness and measures almost 6'1 (I think) - as a freshman. He came in and threw a TD pass against Coldspring. Also, our kicker, James Haynes, should shape up to be a standout WR. He's also big and fast. Despite how well our guys played this year - and say what you will but I'll take 11-2 on almost any given year - it WAS a "rebuilding" year. Next year and at least the next should be very, very exciting for Mustang fans. I can't begin to express how proud I am of our guys, who took a year that we were predicted to lose the district and swept the district, then won two playoff games - including one against the top team in the state. And we really only went out in round three by a one-point loss. Yeah, they scored again, but we let them run it in untouched to get the ball back. GO MUSTANGS!
  3. You'll delete posts questioning play calling and not those from outsiders gloating about beating a team that this board represents? (China Springs)
  4. From what I've SEEN and heard, we have some skill players coming up that will fill shoes quite adequately and quite quickly. Quinny has proven that he is as adept at handling the feature back duties as his brother. We have a young JV WR and QB that are going to turn a lot of heads. Yes, pretty much the whole team is back next year, though we'll miss greats like DPG, Dennis and Cory Bell. As well as we played this year, it truly was a "rebuilding" year, which is just another feather in the cap of the program!
  5. Too many field position gifts. Even the Chain Gang only has so many goal line stands in them. Tonight they shut them down on three or four drives inside the five before they finally were able to punch it in on yet another fourth down. When you consider that this was a "rebuilding year" (and it really was), I'll take 11-2 anyday.
  6. Yeah, we lost to an undefeated and higher-ranked team in the final minutes of the game, ending an 11-2 year that was a "rebuilding" season. For some reason, it doesn't really hurt. In my mind, the only team that went out looking better than we did was Dayton, who's still goin.
  7. 12-6 at the half. LaVega is getting some big plays, but the plays that aren't big have been hard hits and losses of yardage by the Chain Gang. GO MUSTANGS
  8. Sounds like Lumberton is playing a team much better than they are to me. Welcome to playoff football.
  9. Because Coop is a good guy (and only because Coop is a good guy), I've ignored that I know that adding "ity" or "ish" to any curse word will allow it to show up uncensored. I had it in one of my posts, but Coop is cool w/ me, so I deleted it and shut it down. But, for the record, censored La censored vega. Run those two censoreds at us. We'll knock the censored out of those censoreds. (note to coop and all: if you make the "f-word" plural (bucks), it's not censored. Fuck fuck fuck.
  10. Do the words "fat mean anything to you cheese-gobbling piggies from LV? I hope they've got speed. They can shut down the DL, but the WO-S defense hasn't ranked second in state because of the DL alone. The linebackers and secondary are pretty top-notch themselves. LaVega's defense has given up more points per game through a weaker schedule. Keep talking, LaVega. Your fans are already conceding the game on other (real) football boards.
  11. La vega called out the #2 3A defense in TX as weak. Fuck Lavega. I've never heard of them. GO MUSTANGS!
  12. Look. Dayton is better than the "L" train (which is reeeeeeally funny if you think about it) now. Go Broncs!
  13. Predictably, none of the "facts" you were stated were "facts," nor were they even semi-true. I could care less about getting attention for the Stangs from anyone but Stang fans. But I won't return it with a personal judgment on you or your "chips" from up on some high horse. Like a lot of folks, this board has lost a lot of luster for me recently. If that's how I'm perceived here, then there are certainly better places to be. Good luck to the Raiders, and I hope it's something they can stretch out over more than just a year or two.
  14. If you're talking about the AP poll, they don't do them after the Week 10 poll. If you're talking about the site rankings, I'm guessing a new list will be out after all of this week's games are played.
  15. Unfortunately, I was not made aware of that. Nazerath said, "laying on the field crying." My reaction was to that post - not to the details that have been provided since. Despite the fact that I've tried to explain that (apparently using words that were too "fancy"), he continues to be on the offensive. Whatever. I did say that stuff about Lumberton. Am I more impressed than I was then? Yep. Do I think they're the best team in state? Nope. In 22-4A? Nope. Do I think they have a right to be proud? Yep. Do I think they are going overboard with the bragging? Like most readers, yep. This is far from the first time a team in our area has had a strong winning run - it happens every year to at least one team. This year, it's happening to at least six at this point (WO-S, Dayton, PN-G, Lumberton, Kirbyville, Newton). The win over LaMarque was impressive. I personally was more impressed by Dayton and WO-S. Big whoop. Get over it. Don't question my parenting or bring my child into this. You are crossing a line that will not be tolerated. When you attack me personally for what I say in a football discussion, you're losing all of your credibility when you talk about your "class."
  16. Hmmm. I thought I made it pretty clear that I was unaware how much of a "fit" they threw because you were unable to communicate the specifics. Then I agreed that it was uncalled for and melodramatic and classless. Is that clearer? I'm glad you're able to "snatch yours up." Don't bother trying it with me. I'm quite happily married and not a fan of public displays of affection. It would be awkward. I'm far from a child, and mine is too young to even know the difference between a win and a loss. But thanks for trying to drag my toddler child into a discussion about football. Careful about the line you're about to cross. It appears that, though you tout your age-earned wisdom, you weren't parented very well yourself. If this is how you talk to people, then maybe you should take a few lessons in how to act like a grown up.
  17. Why should I be ashamed? I don't think I've crossed any lines. Yeah, it sounds like LaMarque acted in a trashy way. Good job stooping to their level. DJ, if players were beating the ground and throwing helmets, then I agree it's acting like a baby. But none of that was pointed out. He merely mocked them for "laying on the field crying." I realize not everyone is capable of communicating well, but that's how misunderstandings happen. As far as the halftime show, that's already been an issue with the UIL for quite a while. It's not just LaMarque, but a lot of Houston-area (and other) teams. From all indications, it has been toned down (yes, believe me, it has), but won't go away. Go to the concession stand.
  18. I'm listening to it right now. It's at www.lonestargridiron.com. It's also available on Itunes, but our game isn't actually posted on Itunes yet - but apparently will be soon. The sideline reporter is so nervous it's funny. He just keeps saying "Wow."I'm still listening to pre-game interviews.
  19. You are aware that the "WHOOSH" thing only works to taunt LaMarque fans, right?
  20. Actually, even though we ran into a LaMarque buzzsaw a few times during their consecutive championship streak in the 90s before beating them last time we played, I hold LaMarque in very high regard. I've never disliked them. Still, it was a game Lumberton should have (and did) won. The Raiders should win again this week.
  21. If an old coot like you could just yank them up like a toddler, no wonder Lumberton won!
