  1. Of course. People in Galveston who are "hunkering down" will be lucky to survive. I think that's a good, strong message and an efficient way of identifying bodies.
  2. We left yesterday evening. I don't trust our emergency officials in a case like this - not with two little ones at home. I listened to Coop! We might not get hit at home, but we're also not there now, where my dad is, who called and said, "The city is falling apart. People are panicking, the lines at Wal Mart are all open and 10 people deep, and the wait for gas is 20 minutes." The emergency folks dropped the ball on this one bigtime.
  3. I can promise this game will be closer than it ever been before. As for the outcoached, that's been the problem the past couple of years. There is no such thing as outmatched, you are being a little to arrogant son!!! I would love to see Kirbyville hang at 40+ on y'all defense just because of your mouth. If WOS was that much better than Kirbyville you wouldn't have a early exit of the playoffs every year. The teams y'all played so far are weak this year, Kirbyville has alot of speed and you will see next Friday. Go Cats!!!! 3rd or 4th round isn't early! Waco LaVega defeated WOS last year, a team that just defeated 4A power Brownwood Friday Night. WOS by 21+. yea yea yea look at last year who Waco Lavega lost to the next week.... that was china springs who lost in the state game and kville played a very good game against and should of one but couldn't put it together,,,,but that was last year so it don't matter kville is a better team then in the past hopefully ull get to see Friday,,,, and brownwood ain't that good But we beat Kville by 24. It wasn't even close. How can you talk smack? You beat Jasper and Diboll. How can you say that 4A teams like Nederland (predicted by some to win the district) and LC-M are weak? Last year, your guys seemed like scared kids in the second half. Let's save the talk.
  4. In my opinion, the best coaches, like Hooks, are those who know about more than just Xs and Os. They know how to inspire and win kids over. Kids at WO-S know that it's Hooks' way or the highway, and if parents throw a fit, they learn that playing football is a privilege, not a right. Don't like it? Bye. At LC, does the board back Moody up when complaints arise (though some sound legit)? I'm so thankful that the Stangs have such a great coach to mold them. You can whine and moan and boo all you want when you see him on the field screaming at the refs, but the kids sure as hell know that he is in there fighting for them. Moody trying to cancel the game - and then running out the clock from the get-go - reflected poorly on him as a coach and leader of young men. I'm not saying he's a bad coach or person. I'm saying those two actions made him look bad.
  5. Prayers to Ethan for a quick recovery. Moody was running out the clock from the get-go. It was a "try not to lose by too much" approach.
  6. Believe it or not, the score was waaaaaaaay closer than the game. LC had one pass for about 25 and an 11 yard run. Other than that, they were falling and losing yardage trying to not lose by too much. I'm eager to see the stats, because I'm willing to bet we had more penalty yardage (RIDICULOUS) than they had offense. The score should have been 62-0, but I'll certainly take 48-7 against anyone anyday. It's gonna be a long year for the Bears, as their defense only stopped us once (fumbled at the goal line) and their offense could do literally nothing without the help of some incredibly flag-happy refs. At one point, the bears had driven about 60 yards on pass interference calls almost exclusively. Their crowd was going nuts despite their ineptitude on offense, and the refs seemed to be doing everything they could to give pity points. Then we picked off a third down pass and took it about 70 for a TD. Beautiful. Way to go, Stangs.
  7. In any case, the third-place team from 21-3A can contend with the top team from 22-3A. You can't say that vice-versa. There is no team in 22 that can (on paper) hang with WO-S OR Silsbee. 22 might take out our third-place team, but it will be tough, since that team will have been more battle-tested (in theory) than 22's team.
  8. LCM is at WO-S, not vice-versa... not that that changes any predictions...
  9. Thank God all is well at LC-M after they were hit by the narrowest sub-hurricane in history! It missed West Orange, Bridge City, Orangefield, Lumberton, Nederland, Port Neches, Beaumont, Vidor, Sour Lake, and every other school district. While all other schools were prepping to play, one school in SETX was decimated by a ruthless and devastating storm. One brave coach finally decided to ignore the tragic horrors that faced him and play the game... Hurricane Moody! P.S.: Moody has cancelled the game against Bridge City due to a rumor that the Miami Hurricanes MIGHT be on national TV that night.
  10. The problem I see is this: in his mind, Moody is already a step past LC-M. It's a stepping stone that is no longer worth seeing his personal record shredded. If he chooses to off this game and, at the end of the year, move on to another school, it's very important that both WO-S, LC-M, and fans of TX HS football in general let the administration know that Moody is a chicken who will never take a risk to improve his team. If this is really the decision he makes, he is a loser. Right?
  11. Sad and pathetic. Sad for the kids and community, pathetic for the coach. For a guy who told his fellow coaches recently he planned to coach in college and "eventually the NFL," it's not a good sign. WO-S had Nederland to prepare for last week when LC-M was off (and ALL of the coaches were scouting). The Stangs have had no more prep time than the bears. Pitiful, Moody. Either man up for the game on Saturday or throw in your coach's hat. This is not just a terrible football decision, but also a terrible example for the young men on the team for whom you provide a model each and every day.
  12. My understanding is that players must be nominated first by the coach, then voted for by an AP poll-participating sportswriter. Being a former Enterprise employee, it's quite possible that they don't have anyone with a vote. They used to have Kenton Brooks, but he moved on. The only one I can imagine might have one is Rush Wood, but I'm not so sure. I'm thinking the only local AP voter is at the PA News. I could be totally wrong, but that's my recollection.
  13. It will be a sad day, but not nearly as sad if Coach T takes the reigns. He's as respected by Stang fans as even our top man.
  14. Jasper. Hands down. They lost by two in the waning moments. I believe PN-G lost by 10, and WO-S lost by 14.
  15. WO-S should have beaten LaVega. They really lost by one, then allowed a free TD in the end to get the ball back. Kirbyville lost by three TDs, which is a borderline blowout. Just a thought.
  16. Without sounding like someone on a witch hunt, we need to give someone else a shot at playcalling. If we're wrong, we're wrong. Let's at least find out. Too many people from too many other schools (local and state-wide) have questioned our offensive calls in clutch situations. Let's give Toby a shot.
  17. Either second to WO-S or second to Newton! Woo!
  18. BOJO SHO GON GO ON FO SHO! Bojo is the lamest thing ever. Thanks for it, Coach Moody. We WO-S fun-pokers owe you a HUGE debt.
  19. LC-M will likely be winless next year. You take a very poorly performing team and tell them that their coach tried to bail out and get a job elsewhere, plus losing your best players, and you've got a potential winless team. I hope not, but I can see it. Who am I kidding? If there's a team I hope is winless, it's the bumblin bears.
  20. Regardless, they'll probably do one of those things where they arbitrarily change the number of the districts, so who knows? I hope we keep them on the schedule. It's been fun!
  21. Actually, I disagree with both predictions. I think it's pretty much signed, sealed and delivered this year (in no particular order: WO-S, Jasper, Silsbee.
  22. GO BRONCOS! (There's nothing like saying you beat a state champ ) You've made our area proud! I hope we (WO-S) keep you on our schedule for the next two years!
