The officials were awful, but we won, so I can't complain. I think the ball was initially caught by Silsbee and taken away by WO-S, but the "blown call" wasn't what made the refs look stupid. It was the 10-minute discussion (in two parts) that they had about it, which pretty much showed that none of them was too clear on the rule. They waved off four flags. [i]Four[/i]. The ref even let the WO-S crowd goad him into one intentional grounding call against Silsbee, which he rightfully waved off. Still. You're a professional.

The Orange Leader has Lindsey with 308 yards on 36 carries. Total offense was 383. Jasper had 131 total yards of offense, and we had 111 yards in penalties.

I figured Vidor would win this one. But I'm not sure Texas High is still a major power. I think they were a .500 team last year.

And along those lines, Gas, we should tell him that it's WO-S, not W-OS. The first year we ran the spread, 2001, we struggled. You probably weren't aware, being that it was six years before 2007. We were 5-5 (our first .500 or below season since 1982), and that was coming off of a 15-1 state runner-up team in 2000. It's a new offense. There's a period of adjustment. As someone who has followed WO-S more than "on and off" for FAR longer than four years, I believe we made the right hire.

Maybe it's just me, but it [i]just might[/i] be too early to evaluate a coach's potential effect on a team's legacy after, oh,[b] one game[/b].

Other than the three big plays at the end, I didn't think either team "dominated" the fourth. In fact, we on the WO-S side felt like we had the edge b/c the Nederland players looked so winded.

That and the phantom out-of-bounds catch were disappointing after WO-S shut down most of Ned's offense except for a few big plays - tons and tons of tackles behind the line of scrimmage - but we shouldn't have let the 'Dogs back into the game. Good game, Ned.
